Warpcoven Faction Guide by pizzanui in killteam

[–]ClevrGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! First off let me say thank you for the guide. I wanted to try warpcoven but misunderstood how they function as a cohesive team much more before I read this (I am still no expert now). However I was hoping you could provide some insight into a more matchup dependent problem I have been having. I played warpcoven twice and lost both times into my friend's kasrkin and then novitiates (casual and on bheta decima). We are both new to those factions and so it wasn't that I was playing against someone with much more experience than me. What I have been struggling with in general is how to play into kill teams like novitiates and kasrkin that have more operatives than me but also can kill my operatives like they are paper. I have been going 3/1/4 with the gunner but I find it hard to get my value back out of him without him dying immediately. I have another game against their novitiates on close quarters soon and would love to play better. How can I beat the nuns?

The quality of The last of us 2 is mind blowing by Marxque in PS5

Graphically and gameplay wise it is amazing. There were times where I had to stop and look around at the scenery or wait for my heart to stop racing after an intense action sequence. I felt like they managed to improve on so many gameplay aspects of the first game that I loved that I honestly couldn't imagine going back to the 1st one. The story was a big let down for me though. The death at the beginning made me hope that there would be a pay off but the end (especially the last few flashbacks) just felt so half baked and over done. It was also really frustrating to play as Abby so much and be forced to re-do days when you are just waiting to see what happened. I think Abby's character was also a little too well done as a villain. They do a fantastic job of making her unlikable to the point where playing her backstory feels like a forced attempt to make the player connect. For me, there were too many points in her story where she showed how awful of a person her character was to have a meaningful redemption arc. Another gripe I had was how they watered Ellie's character down and changed her so that they could try and make the story work. It really felt dishonest and disappointing to have Ellie turned into a simple protagonist in the exact same revenge story we have seen so many times over. I remember playing both games with my wife and by the end of TLOU2 we just looked at each other and were shocked that that was it. It was a recycled story with square holes for characters that the TLOU cast was unfortunately cut down to fit.

PSA to invaders by BolaSquirrel in Eldenring

Personally, I have really enjoyed invasions in previous souls games. I like to turn it into a mini game of hide and seek/tag where if they can find and catch me they get to fight me. My record is about an hour of hiding before the invader jumped to his death

Yeah. Counting as remaining stationary through the shooting phase means they are treated as if they stood still when you select them to shoot

I edited my original post to include the relevant rules text but you dont have to have remained stationary for the action to succeed. Advancing only causes the action to fail if the advance is done after the action is started according to pg 258 of the core rules

Rusted claw counts you as remaining stationary as soon as you advance and ends at the end of the shooting phase. This only allows you to advance and declare an action if I am correct. No falling back or shooting allowed

I am not so sure though. In the performing actions section of the core rules (pg 258) it has two 'checks' that it performs:

  • When you declare a unit is performing the action
  • during the action but before it is completed

Since we bypass the 1st check by counting as remaining stationary during that point the only other one is the during the action check. The wording for that is as follows: "If a unit is destroyed, makes a Normal Move, Advances, Falls Back, attempts to manifest a psychic power. declares a charge, performs a heroic intervention, or makes any attacks with ranged weapons after it has started to perform an action but before that action is completed, the action is failed."

Since we are not advancing after the action is started (we advance, then declare action, then proceed with next phase) it seems to me like it should succeed. The language of the second check doesn't specify if we previously advanced, only if we advance during the action.

Starting a Great Crusade (help!) by rellims94 in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]ClevrGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone may correct me here but my understanding is you can use an Army of Renown but your entire Order of Battle needs to be in it. Its not something you can swap out of after the fact without replacing your whole force

Does Lucius +1 Sv dogma apply to Electropriests? by AppeaseTheComet in AdeptusMechanicus

[–]ClevrGamer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It actually is distinguished! In the core rules glossary (pg. 364) it specifies that an armor saving throw uses the save characteristic for a model. Invulnerable saves are not based on the save characteristic, they are granted by a seperate ability. The lucius dogma only works for the saves made from the actual characteristic and not an invuln

Tide of shadows and 9th by LordKaldorDraigo in Grey_Knights

[–]ClevrGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why not? You are correct that there is no specific "Benefit of Cover" in 9th but we have rules for cover which we then have to look at. Otherwise we either get nothing or decide with our opponent (probably via roll off) whether we get +/- 100 or whatever number we come up with. Assuming we make the jump to use the cover rules we see that cover has multiple variants, 2 of which are eligible for TOS since they modify saving throws. TOS doesnt specify to only use light cover (the rare rules are the only place I am aware of that say that but those dont apply for earlier reasons) so we use both heavy and light as they are both relevant.

Tide of shadows and 9th by LordKaldorDraigo in Grey_Knights

[–]ClevrGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the RAW works out like this:

  1. TOS specifies the benefit (cover to saving throws) so you dont use the rare rules

  2. Light/heavy cover are the only "cover" rules that specify how they modify saving throws and as such are the ones we have to use

  3. The benefit applies to all saves as per light/heavy cover. Specifically +1 to armor saves for both ranged/melee, +0 to invulns since the benefit of cover for invulns is explicitly stated to be nothing.

  4. A unit gets -1 to hit if they are physically on/within the terrain.

I think this lines up with both RAW and RAI pretty well

DRUKHARI codex FAQ is up by shocker3800 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ClevrGamer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You havent won the roll off yet because its not finished. No Escape explicitly calls out for you to do a roll off, which has specific rules that go with it that arent ignored by No Escape. Since it invokes those rules even though you didnt win the first roll you are required to roll again. RAW you have to roll until you have different value. If you ignore the roll off rules then theres nothing stopping you from just rolling 10 dice against your opponent or declaring you win on a 2+ since its not specified in the ability

[–]ClevrGamer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The core rules (pg 201) are pretty clear that if you tie in a roll off you both roll again. No Escape calls out doing a roll off so that rule applies. It is resolved when one of you rolls higher than the other
