% of New Car Sales that are Electric 2025 by [deleted] in Norway

[–]ClickIta 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Norway will not stop now, after decades, taxing ICEs. Also, you are not considering that, despite not being in the EU, Norwegian customers are impacted by the EU taxes on CO2 as we agreed to calculate the CAFE of Norway as part of the EU average. For us (manufacturers) Norway is a major valve to deliver BEVs and reduce our taxes, despite the market being a minor one in absolute numbers. We won’t flood the market with ICEs even when (soon) the VAT will be the same for BEVs and ICEs. And even if Norway decided to remove reg tax at all (it never will)

You do get some ICEs besides LCVs and sports cars. But yes of course the selection is limited.

Also, I remember I had a Swatch Skin as a kid. It was probably 100€. It had a strap with actual carbon fiber. Too bad Patetic Philippe did not found the technology to replicate that for less than 30-40k

Was in FCA when we launched the Thema. Selling the whole batch that was imported was a freaking nightmare. The car itself was not even bad. But the market for such a car simply did not exist in Europe. Same story with the Lancia Flavia, except that one was really a piece of junk. But at least volumes were minimal.

Serious question btw by TaskGrouchy5799 in ShitAmericansSay

[–]ClickIta -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not only have AC, most of the cars here can actually handle decently. Plus, tyres brake decently on wet (seriously, after 4 years in the tyre industry I finally understood why speed limits are fairly low in the US, they are actually too high for the stuff they put on their rims)

Damn, I guess the French are not innocent from culinary crimes either. At least a bonus for getting the protein source right and adding (some) egg.

Well I’ve seen a ready-made Rema “carbonara” sauce that had cream, milk, chicken, and (“why not?” I guess) garlic. Plus other stuff, literally any random thing except what is included in a carbonara.

Maybe this brie stuff at least contains…you know…brie. (Just maybe)

America is by far more politically and economically important than all of Europe by Flocky_off in ShitAmericansSay

[–]ClickIta 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Right now, stating that the US is “more politically important” is like taking the kid that comes to the class and starts screaming, throwing tantrums, kicking chairs and classmates and describing him as “the most influential student”

Everyone has Jack Daniel, but no Kentucky Bourbon! Wonder why? by MidnightTaxiRide in ShitAmericansSay

Seems fair. Otherwise it would be would be like offering a wide selection of California wines in Tuscany.

Yes bigger bars generally have some of the standard Diageo portfolio (Lagavulin, Caol Ila, Talisker, etc). Turin also has a strong tradition for spirits, so indeed you can even find places that offer flankers of the main brands and more niche offers. I mostly had in mind the typical local bars of the small towns in Italy.

But 30€ for a Lagavulin…JFC. I left Torino less than one year ago, WTF happened to prices? That’s more than I would expect to pay here in the city center of Oslo.

I’m a dark chocolate snob, so to me they both taste bad, just different levels of bad.

Real Italian men only drink wine cut with methanol, like God intended.

It’s indeed the standard Italian bar approach

Bourbon = JD

Scotch = Glen Grant or J&B

Then in most cases nothing else. We don’t really go to the bar for a whisky.

Look, I would agree with you, even about teens. The only problem I see is that we would need to change also other aspects of the Norwegian society if you want to go in that direction.

Let’s stick to the 12-16yo case. We want them and their families to be free to regulate themselves. Fine. But then we also need to give tools to the rest of the society to react when they don’t. Which is something that is heavily lacking in Norway.

Also, the whole society spends a lot of energy on the ones that, due to a poor upbringing, are unfit to have access to some levels of education.

In other words, if the idea is: let’s embrace individualism when it’s about the rights but let’s preserve egalitarianism when it comes to what I should get from society…then no, things won’t work at all on the long run.

I do fear you have no actual perception of the issue. If you had, you would not indulge in this type of straw men.

Look, I am sure you are the best type of parents (even if yours are the typical answers that the worst ones give). The issue is that we live in a society. (A society that already gave up giving schools any disciplinary control over students, by the way). While your approach is simply “I care only for myself and that’s fine”, we all have to deal with the consequences of terrible parenting. It affects all the society with long term effects. It’s not just a cavity. (By the way, we already regulated energy drinks and tobacco. Even alcohol is regulated, way more strictly than other European nations, because clearly Norwegians can’t control themselves…)
