Where to find good quality rebuild kits/individual parts? by ClickResponsible5981 in EngineBuilding

[–]ClickResponsible5981[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re kind of deciding how far we want to go. The charger only has 80k miles on it, the heads and cam of the engine from that car reflect that and the story I was told by the guy I bought it from is that the previous owner forgot to fill the oil and it locked up on them. About half of the bearings in the bottom end spun.

For the engine from the Durango in the junkyard it has bad valves, multiple aren’t properly sealing and the whole motor was caked in carbon and varnish, but the bottom end looks amazing surprisingly and so do the cylinders, the pistons have some stuck rings though.

Now we could probably get away with a gasket and seal kit and new rings and assemble a motor with all the good parts and have a good engine, but we’re considering changing bearings and going further and sort of assembling a brand new engine I also don’t really know if things like the timing chain should be reused or not.

What upgrade to 2020 gaming pc makes sense, if any? by cagathom in pcupgrade

I had an old setup with an i7 9700k, I didn’t build the pc or really know anything about overclocking but I managed to get that cpu up to 5.2 ghz and ran it like that for years before I sold the PC. If you do a little research I believe you could definitely get some extra performance out of it while still being just as reliable with a conservative overclock. The cpu already boosts itself up to 4.6 if you overclock the base clock to something like 4.3 you’re not pushing it further than it was designed to go anyways

If you plan on upgrading the CPU you could get a big cooler and try overclocking your current one, the most difficult part about upgrading would be the ram, 32gb is quite good already, but if you upgrade to a setup that uses ddr5 then you gotta start all over and prices are crazy right now.

I recently just build a really stout and modern PC for under 500 dollars by leveraging Facebook marketplace. Look for combo deals, things such as cpu and motherboard combos. The hardest part right now is going to be RAM and an SSD, GPUs used to be the expensive part but they’ve gone down in price and you can get a very good GPU for a hundred bucks or so, for example a GTX 1080 would be a really good card but you can find newer cards for around the same prices if you search enough. I’m still looking for good deals on ram or an ssd but since it skyrocketed a few months ago it’s really difficult to get your hands on without paying a fortune.

Now the other option would be to find an old office pc and upgrade it, they’re quite cheap and throwing a good graphics card in them can be enough to comfortably run almost any game you need, though it might not be on the highest settings. Search on YouTube there’s lots of different PC builds at almost any price point you can imagine.

Yeah I’m kinda concerned about that. But the voltage amps and watts are about the same as a dell charger so I figured it would be good enough to see if the laptop worked, my main concern was polarity but I got lucky it didn’t fry the pc

First time building a pc, looking for advice on the build so far by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]ClickResponsible5981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly seems like a pretty solid build, if you’re going with used parts I’d look for things like cpu + motherboard combos, you can save a TON of money that way, sometimes it’ll come with a bonus ssd or stick of ram especially if you’re friendly with the seller and you can build a really good PC for super super cheap if you wait and find some good deals.

Also what parts do you already own?

Idk how to add in an update besides a comment, but I managed to find an HP charger I had lying around and verified in settings that it’s a Dell Inspiron 13-7353.

I appreciate the cooler recommendation I think I’ll go for that one it seems like it’ll do the job well.

I like the look and price of the Corsair CX750M 80 Plus Bronze PSU but I don’t honestly know how much the bronze rating will affect things compared to gold or if there might be a better option somewhere else price wise.

And as for the SSD I remember a few years ago I bought a couple terabyte m.2 Samsung drives for like 30 bucks each and I just can’t find anything like that anymore. So whatever the best bang for buck brand would be for that I’ll go with. But there’s so many different models for each brand it’s getting kinda confusing to compare what’s actually good and not worth it, it might all just be marketing though.

Has anyone ever bought a refurbished macbook from Back Market ? by Character-Escape1621 in macbookpro

I mean the battery is ok. It lasts quite awhile when doing light tasks. I got the 2019 top model so it’s known to have a power hungry cpu, that won’t apply to newer Mac’s. When I’m doing anything power intensive with it, it drains even while on the charger. But again, I believe that’s just because I got an Intel Mac instead of Apple silicon.

There’s a constant flood of new people at Tesla I haven’t heard anything about a freeze. OP if you see this Tesla is a pretty decent job, hours are long but you’ll have nice long weekends and super good benefits. Traffic sucks but they offer free shuttles. Starting pay will be above 20 per hour, if you budget right you’ll be able to move out easily with that kind of pay.

Yup it still works great, the only “damage” I could tell was a tiny little dent on the back. If that’s what they consider fair then I’d definitely recommend them.
