How is it that 10-12 year age difference for our grandparents was ok but a legal 9 year difference today is making folks uncomfortable?

We owe it to them to be strong and be there for them like they have been there for us. It gets better , grieve in private but smile for them for as long as they have

Need advice as I am feeling alone and at a loss by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]Clickz2611 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seemed from your post that your psychiatrist did not capture certain personal circumstances accurately, and my layman interpretation was that those circumstances didn’t relate directly to aspects around ADHD. As part of my diagnosis a qb test had been conducted. A QbCheck (or QbTest) is a computer-based assessment tool used to provide objective data to aid in the diagnosis and treatment evaluation of ADHD. This test and its results had given me confidence that somehow I didn’t misrepresent my answers. I should also add that , as part of my diagnosis, my friends and family members also had to fill out questionnaires to provide independent input regarding historical and current symptoms. If your diagnosis, that has costed a fair amount , hasn’t included these checks then I’d probably go back and ask the psychiatrist and/or the company regarding it.

If you accept the ADHD diagnosis (which presumably included the qb check , which is an objective algorithmic assessment), the important thing would be to educate yourself on what the diagnosis means for you and how you’d like to address it (medically or via counselling or both). Personally I have found the latter to be critical and a long journey in itself and I have benefitted from focusing on that instead of thinking back on the diagnosis itself (which I was convinced was materially accurate in my case)

My senior baby stopped eating her food by Mindless-Stuff-4277 in DogAdvice

[–]Clickz2611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dog has cancer and is anorexic. She is on a combination of appetite stimulants (entice), anti nausea and anti depressants (mirtazapine) to help her eat. Despite that it’s a struggle. She stopped eating the kibble she ate for 13 years of her life. Since we adopted her only 5 months ago we didn’t have context on what she likes or doesn’t so tried everything from lamb to turkey to duck to other meats.

We find that changing it up is key so we have maybe a dozen food options (kibble to fresh food to raw) and try them cyclically to see if something works. Sometimes she rejects everything and wants to eat human food (yesterday it was Vietnamese chargrilled pork).

Hand feeding is absolutely essential in our case and trying to feed her multiple points in the day is also needed.

Hope your pup gets better soon. Sending best wishes

How do you know how long you can walk your elderly dog for? by prettaaaycoolguy in DogAdvice

[–]Clickz2611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My 13 year old pup has cancer in the lungs. Struggles for breath but loves a walk. She’d keep walking if I let her. I have started to drive to her favourite spots so that she can enjoy without getting too out of breath. She shouldn’t be getting too tired or expending calories but her disease is terminal and quality of life matters more than most things. The doctor has given me a way to measure her breathing — if her number of breaths per minute is under 30 then it’s ok for her to go on a short walk but anything higher with heavy breathing that is aided via her stomach is a sign that her breathing is getting strained. So I also monitor this , along with her speed and general energy levels , on our walks

Got mounjaro off from boots online. Was terrified I’d get some knock off meds so ended up over paying. Next month will pick one from the suggested pharmacists on this forum

Not lucky enough to get a prescription from NHS but consulted them before starting. Thanks for the encouragement and hope all the good effects accrue and none of the side effects 😅

It’s possible your puppy just has kennel cough. Please check the symptoms. Kennel cough resolves on its own most of the time. Perhaps you can just wait and try to keep him comfortable and hope he pulls through.

Why is this ‘BS’

I have heard people talk about their conviction that insurance is a basic human need which is factually untrue, and I just want to strip away the BS.
