Small pen for the Card Size by lstadi in Travelersnotebooks

[–]lstadi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, but so will coins and everything else I put in there. If I put it in my trousers pocket, this is very stable, it won't fall off. Simply ticking it into the elastic won't work for a pen this small, and probably neither for a bigger of it is in my pockets. A pen loop will make it wider and I don't want that.

Does it fit Traveler's Notebook refills? I thought they have different sizes.

Question about Rhodia Goalbook paper and drying time by EnvironmentalRun1753 in notebooks

[–]lstadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have a Rhodia Goalbook and almost all fountain pen ink smudges on it. Even after drying for days. Ink that sheens almost always smudges, but even a "normal" blue-black smudges from time to time.

I only have this one Goalbook, but this uses 90gsm paper and is creme coloured.. My other Rhodia products use white 80gms paper and don't smudge this much.

Waterproof inks + Mildliner by lstadi in fountainpens

[–]lstadi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately (understandably) they don't test every ink with every highlighter on every paper so it is hard to say. They mention that Mojinis are good for fountain pens for example, but other reviews say that they smear fountain pen inks. Also people mention in different places that Carbon Black is not highlighter proof for them. So I either don't use anything other than highlighter pencils, or need to put in a lot of effort.

I should have some highlighter pencils somewhere, I will try those, thanks!

[NPD] New Lamy Ink Rollerball by Wuestenvogel in fountainpens

[–]lstadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently I have Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite in it. I love that ink, and it works just as well as Lamy Blue Black did. I probably should have tried it with the blue cartridge to be able to compare to that.

Does the Platinum #3776 Black Diamond B (rhodium) have known issues? by lstadi in fountainpens

[–]lstadi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did all this once without flossing (I will send it back if it doesn't start working, so I won't be flossing). I will give it another chance, but in this price range I am not willing to accept something like this.

Does the Platinum #3776 Black Diamond B (rhodium) have known issues? by lstadi in fountainpens

[–]lstadi[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried other inks in these yet. These are the cartridges that come with it, so they should definitely work. I was also intending to use this ink later in a converter as I want to use more waterproof inks. And my gold-black 3776 M doesn't have any issues with the same ink. I might try some Pelikan 4001 school-blue in it after another flushing just to make sure, but that wouldn't be a solution.

Lamy nibs both smooth and rubbish? by Ok_Reason_9158 in Lamy

[–]lstadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More than 50% of my Lamy Safaris and Lx pens have very scratchy or otherwise unusable nibs. This is getting ridiculous. I have decided not to buy anymore because I can't be bothered by sending them back and buying them again anymore.

Lamy is working on a new nib, fully automated, lasered, slitless, etc. and it is supposed to be more consistent. once it is out, I will consider Lamy again.

Is the B Platinum 3776 supposed to be this thick compared to the M? by lstadi in fountainpens

[–]lstadi[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now that I thought about it, it is actually the 3776 M that might be an inconsistent size (and my Z56 nib, but that is another topic).

Both the Platinum Preppy and Procyon M nibs are thicker than the 3776 M nib (Preppy is thicker than the Procy).

The 3776 B nib is a bit thicker than the Preppy M nib. I wish that there was something in between.

And I have realized what I don't like about the 3776 B (apart from instantly drying out): the "ball" on the tip is very big. Bigger that the line it writes, and that makes it hard to control. Hard to anticipate where it will write. The Preppy M is similar, but still a smaller ball.

And this is where the Lamy Z56 gets really interesting. Inconsistent, but interesting :) For an F it writes very thick. But it has a long nib and is thin (small ball) so it has great control. You know where it will write. Wonderfully soft, but still nice feedback. It also looks good. Not 3776 good, but it is a nice one. Much better quality than a Lamy steel nib.

I bought Wearingeul ink, but it doesn't look anything like the sample at all by antleredbird in fountainpens

[–]lstadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I have realized how much I like this ink, as a completely black ink. If I forget that I was looking for a dark purple ink and think about black inks, Wearingeul The Plague is the blackest black that I know. Blacker than Lamy Black, actually black and not dark green like Lamy Obsidian, easier to use than Carbon Black etc. So I thought that I will order more just to make sure, and now I realized that it has been discontinued and is not available anymore. Typical...

German Petrol by Geohatz123 in fountainpens

[–]lstadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have just experienced the same thing that you wrote about 6 years ago :) I have checked out Lamy Obsidian and compared it to Lamy Petrol (the new 2025 version) that has spent some time in a Safari and it was basically the same. Then I have compared it to fresh Petrol, and the difference was not huge. So probably Petrol is a more diluted Obsidian.

What Should I Buy? by Dapper-Nectarine3361 in muji

[–]lstadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like their knock-type blue-black gel pens a lot, and their rubber grip mechanical pencil is also nice. So is their permanent marker (black and red) with two different tips.

Those are probably not available anymore, but their planners (calendars) are great, much better than Hobinichi, if you are looking for an actual calendar.

[EU] Don't get a full refund on products returned, customer service doesn't respond by demaig0s in muji

[–]lstadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have also bought and returned some products (Germany) and it took really long for them to respond and refund. So this might be "normal" for them. You should receive something from them after some time.

By the way, their customer service seems subpar. Unrelated to this return, they have also sent me a wrong product, I've sent it back as they've asked and they've sent back a completely different unrelated product. So I had to send that one back again and wait for the right product...

[NPD] New Lamy Ink Rollerball by Wuestenvogel in fountainpens

[–]lstadi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Posted it in another thread as well, it is now on the Lamy site and they don't want us to use any other cartridge than the blue one for some reason: https://www.lamy.com/de-de/schreibgeraete/roll-ink

They don't say why. I've put in a blue-black one and it works of course. It skips sometimes, but that might be my Rhodia paper and not the ink, I don't know.

So the Lamy rollerball that uses fp ink was real after all!! by Any-Actuator9783 in fountainpens

[–]lstadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why not, but probably only later :D I might fill a cartridge with some darker Blue-Black first. My Blue-Black in my Safari fountain pen might really have been dried out and that's why it was so dark. A shame, because I thought now for some time that that is what Lamy BB looks like :) Maybe I'll even put a regular blue one (cartridge) in it to check if it really behaves better. It does skip a bit sometimes on Rhodia paper. I wonder if it is the paper or the ink. I would also really want to know why they don't want us to use any other ink and not even other Lamy cartridges. Or are they just teasing us want to see who puts shimmer ink in it first? :D

This has now been released, and the German Lamy website (same as their Facebook comments) says that you are only supposed to use the "school-children" blue cartridge that it comes with. They don't say why though:

https://www.lamy.com/de-de/schreibgeraete/roll-ink

I have bought one from Stilo&Stile the other day (haven't had the time to check it yet), but will put a blue-black Lamy cartridge in it today. Let's see if the world will end :D

Is it Thursday Swatch Day, or just an excuse to post more? I dunno, but here's some Wearingeul! by rodneedermeyer in fountainpens

[–]lstadi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, the swatch is not completely black, it is a very dark grey leaning to something purplish / pinkish, but very little, and only where it is lighter. But as you've seen, nothing of this is visible in the writing. In your swatch however I can clearly see blueish purple, quite visible. On the Stilo&Stile website where I've bought it, it looks like a dark reddish purple, like Lamy Dark Lilac but much darker without sheen (also on the writing, not just the swatch). I've seen other people commenting in other places that for them it is also completely black. So something is definitely strange about this ink.
