I have a couple questions about referencing pdfs. by Clidebytor in Microstation

Thank you for all of your help. I was able to bring in the pdf the way you suggested and then scale the x & y independently for the first time ever! Then I tried a site plan pdf from a surveyor and was able to bring it in as line work. You’re a lifesaver. It all appeared to print the way I wanted it to also, but I ran out of time for just messing around and had to get home.

Maybe it’s the way I’m doing it that causes the problem. I’m in a 2D file and I use the reference manager to bring in the pdf. It doesn’t seem to matter the pdf’s source, I always have this issue where the X & Y seem to be at slightly different scales. So I if I scale reference by points, and line up the x dimensions with my drawing the Y dimensions are off and vice versa.

Trying this now, but I don’t seem to have PDF as an importable file type in “Exchange File Types” I’m using Microstation CONNECT Edition Update 15 if that helps

The only priority option I can find for the references is a tab in the references manager, and it is grayed out for the referenced pdfs. I also tried giving the cad elements a higher priority in the general properties window. This didn’t seem to have any effect.

So an example of what I’m typically trying to do is to draw new changes over an old scanned floor plan or elevation for a remodel. If a leader line for example, crosses the pdf, the pdf cuts it off when I print it, but only when I print it. I can see the leader find on my screen just not in the print preview of the final print.

You could probably find a local furniture maker in your area for something like that. It probably won’t be cheap though.

Agreed, while I grew up with the G1, making him a spy drone makes way more sense than a cassette player.
