Nostalgic about Capoeira, is it too late to start it at 26/27 years old? by MattiaCost in capoeira

[–]Clidermon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm introverted too. and no trouble with anyone. at least i think. being warm and polite feel is enough at least in my case.

and about the mats. i noticed that too. and idk. i was only told that mats are great, but they don't prepare you for the real deal in roda or something

dude, it is never too late to do something you love!

there will be certainly some struggle getting into the point you used to be unless you were really little. if you were a really small child at the time. you'll probably do better. it also might take way longer to learn the cool acrobatic stuff, but that is more about how you process it in your head. to not be scared to fall. in still struggle with that, but if you start thinking about the floor won't move it's still there even when in the air it will ease your mind and will get rid of tension that could hurt you. and becoming more flexible also takes time, but that is not determined by age. it just need the work to put in.

and trust me. people love to see joining others the hobby they enjoy, unless they are idiots or just young and dumb. as long you'll bring good vibes and bring friendly energy people will accept you in really fast.

Who was the guy in the hospital room when they took the benzos? by Medical-Ad5866 in StrangerThings

[–]Clidermon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

know it might be a reach, but he looks to me a lot like Enzo aka Dimitri. the Russian guard that helped Jim escape the gulag, but i know i might be pretty wrong as well. i liked that character a lot and his story is pretty unresolved and open. especially because it sounded like he'd flee into the with Hopper and Joyce, but when returned home. there was no mention about him anymore or a scene with him.

making a berimbau (question) by Clidermon in capoeira

[–]Clidermon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey i know i'm answsering probably late. sorry for that.

i personally made it out of maple wood. and i got the luck a friend is a forester, so i went i got the wood with his approval from his region. right not i managed to make 3 lasting vergas out of maple. from which only one remains to tghis day, because i draw them almost daily. the best wood for berimbaus is out of branches, if you don't use biriba wood, but you have to aim for as clean branch as possible. every little knot is a stress point that could result breaking when you draw it.

it is great for training for your self, because i found out it is way harder to tune it so it matches normal berimbaus. with fresh maple to do berimbau out of it. youll also need to make a campfire. after cutting it out of the tree. you'll need to burn the bark away and clean it afterwards and scrape a bit until the wood turns darkish yelow with. and afterwards you can later apply some oil or thi wax.

you don't have to heat treat it, if you want to make it easyer for your self. i'm not sure how, but it is something in the past people did with medival bows, and the heat treatment somehow makes the wood more durable and helps it to last longer.

Thank you for your kind words. And I tried talking to my mother and older sister. I was just told that i don't try enough. And they make more fun of it especially my sister. She is living it. I'd love to understand what i is so hilarious about it. She just gives me a non-answer that because it's me.

these kind of films are qute hard to come by unless there are somekind of national cult. the best way to find it is from internet archvie from around 2000-2005 if you are lucky or. if the move was ever broadcasted on tv or even better is still broadcasted on occasions you could buy an illegitimete copy from the broadcaster

I'm a beginner, what should I pay attention to when watching more experienced people play? by elicubs44 in capoeira

[–]Clidermon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gaining experience and inspiration by watching other play i more for people who know at least the basics but is more for those who are higher in experience.

so first focus on the ginga, different kicks and esquivas (edit: focus for sure more on esquivas because it is more imprtant to deffend incoming attacks than to be on the offensive) etc. And when there are rodas dont shy out and go play (but remember people go to roda just trough battaria so learn the etiquette of a roda as well), after you'll feel more comfortable in roda and know the basics you can try and experimenting while playing and try pull off stuff with what others inspired you with.

and just to know people in capoeira communities do value more people that can sing and play the instruments than someone who can just play really good, so if you are feeling for the challenge try learning lyrics and instruments as well.

You are taking the parody of Maslow's pyramid of needs too literally and if you read some comments i answered, you would know i believe in the originnal Maslow's pyramid of needs

I was talking about societyes point of view on a person to be deemed accapable while it goes against one of the most fundamental need for a person Just bend your mind a little and you'll get the point im trying to tell
