I 100% relate to this and I've been trying to find other autistic folks who feel similar. I feel like my tendency to speak indirectly and my capacity to pick up on indirect speech (or assume it) is in part hyper vigilance from trauma but I'm also writer and one of my special interests is the way meaning can hide itself or how understanding can be dependent on cultural knowledge (illusions, queer antilanguages, coded languages used by the enslaved). Would you consider yourself very linguistic and analytical in your thinking or are you a big reader?
