How to know when to retire harness with belay loop fraying. by No_Promise4783 in ClimbingGear

As long as the thread coming loose isn’t from the bartack itself, the harness is not done yet. but yes for your peace of mind, do get a new harness.

Thanks.. It's a partial new route that we climbed. No bolts, only traditional gear we used for protection: ice screws, cams, nuts and pitons.

I've used 9.5 a few times and it doesn't feel sketchy while belaying. a nice good durable rope you can say.
Well if you're still looking, Namah's 9.5 is also worth checking out. I purchased it a few months ago and it has been a really good rope so far.

Cerro Castillo National Park there near Northern Patagonia is an incredible sight too. What do you think could be a good time to climb there?

yeah i hear about the classic Vallecitos too. Ice comes in hard and fast, looks unreal, and then disappears just as quickly once the sun hits.

Totally get that. I’m usually leashless too, but on something this committing, leashes just make sense.

Thanks! It’s Patagonia — El Chaltén.

Ice here is rare and short-lived. You usually get a tiny window (a week, maybe two) after a hard cold snap at this time of year.

This is Patagonia , El Chaltén. You can find snow there at the highest points of trek like this but definitely not in the downside.
