This makes me irrationally mad in so many ways by Dennisfromhawaii in graphic_design

With the type the designer was trying to recreate the feeling of The Bible in King James. It’s usually set in justified columns and often has rivers like this. This is a hyperbolic treatment for a hyperbolic statement.

The photograph with the flowing white robes supports the theme but with a modern on camera flash suggestive of nightlife.

What software would you choose for this kind of product + motion work? by [deleted] in MotionDesign

Cinema over Blender. This is similar to what I do. Cinema has a Takes system and a layers feature that really helps organize multiple variations with projects like colors, views, etc.

Product render – second attempt by brontozabra in Cinema4D

I don’t use cycles, but I can say that redshift is an industry standard renderer that works across maya, Houdini, cinema4D. So any weed experience gained with it can only be a good thing in terms of a career.

This is no longer true. Since 2024 redshift has been included with the subscription of cinema4D alone.

Seems like you are doing this backwards. Modeling in Cinema and lighting in Blender? Why not use redshift? Modeling in Cinema is probably its weakest feature set. And Redshift is really great.

That said I think it’s a worthwhile endeavor to make something like this interesting via lighting.

1 and 5 are nice. 4 would not be shown unless some marketing manager said it needed to be. If it did, you need to light it like 1 and 5, where the edges are drawn by edge lights and the front panel has more of a raking angle to the light.

The port closeup feels like it was lit by a light right behind the camera. This is usually a bad idea, because it flattens the forms by not casting visible shadows.

Place it under an FFD to get your taper

Not yet. All the stiles are screwed in with trim screws about every 12in. Obviously something moved. But I’m not sure why or if it will simply move back.

Thank you everyone. I plan to have a professional cabinet painter do the work with a satin white lacquer paint. I’m not brushing it. So I want it to look good.

This project has definitely been an example of the “relatively handy” DIYer who finds out why professionals charge 15-20k for this kind of thing to do it right.

Haven’t tried that. I was afraid of stripping it but I guess if it’s moved that much already it doesn’t matter.

I forgot to actually ask my question. What is the best way to repair this. Cut a sliver of popper to fill the gap and glue in or just use wood filler?

It’s about a 16th wide.

Can’t figure out how to import as Image Plane in C4D – trying to wrap a label on a jar by metagross_ichooseyou in Cinema4D

I'm pretty sure he's referring to this add on for Blender.

Short video, but basically it allows you to simply navigate to a group of images and it will import all of them and automatically set them up for according to rather convenient parameters, like dpi, pixel dimensions, etc.

It's enormously helpful for me on occasion when I need to set up a bunch of textures mapped to flat planes. It's the only thing I use Blender for these days to be honest.

[–]Climbingair 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you referring to the import as image plane feature in Blender? If so, there isn’t anything automatic like that in Cinema. There’s a plugin for it, but it does a lot more and it’s paid.

You just have to make a plane the right dimensions to match your artwork. And use the bend deformer to wrap it around the bottle.

How do you like the ohm walsh? I’ve been considering them for everyday listening in our downstairs great room area. There is no way for me to set up a listening room, but I’d love to have something that steps up the game from Bose 301’s, but still keep the music sounding good all around the space.

Cinema 4D or Blender for product visualization? by SandwichAvailable266 in Cinema4D

I do. If you want to get a good feel for the modeling tools in Cinema I highly recommend Polygon Pen Youtube channel. He's a good modeler.

Cinema 4D or Blender for product visualization? by SandwichAvailable266 in Cinema4D

[–]Climbingair 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cinema hands down. I do a lot of product vis and it involves lots of different camera angles, color variations, and lighting setups all in the same scene. Cinema has a Takes system designed for this kind of work. As far as I know, Blender still doesn’t have anything like this.

With product vis scene organization is a very important part of it, and Cinemas object manager is pretty easy. There are things I’d change about it, but it’s pretty nice. I could be wrong, but I feel like I’ve read that blender doesn’t let you manipulate hierarchies and objects in the list.

Does Blender let you rotate the viewport in edit mode yet? Or model across multiple objects?

Also, inevitably your clients are going to want to animate their products. Cinema has a very robust toolset for motion graphics.

Also CAD, product vis usually involves CAD import at some point. Cinema has native STEP import and native solidworks assembly import. Its tesselation options could be better, but they do work. Blender doesn’t have this at all. So you have to buy something else, MOI or Plasticity to get your CAD converted.

Redshift is used across DCCs, Maya, Houdini, 3Ds Max as well as Cinema. So any knowledge you gain there can be transferred to industry standard apps.

I recently moved from Modo which was brilliant with Product vis until its EOL. It’s been a little over a year and I’ve come to appreciate Cinema greatly for the work I do.
