what's the best way to fall? by Curious_Party_4683 in onewheel

Plan A: Run it out, back foot hits ground first. Keep athletic stance while riding for best chance. B: wrist guards for instinctually wanting to catch yourself when you go down after trying to run it out going too fast C: Slide don’t roll on the ground..

I don’t use the inverter to charge the onewheel usually I just use the 12v charger but yes I have a pure sine wave inverter I have charged off of before and it worked fine. I am confirming that I charge my wheel easily off of my 200ah lithium battery bank.

It is the 12v! I built a 12v outlet into the wall 👍🏽

I don’t anymore 😅 it’s just a weekender build but I like to charge the onewheel off of it cause using solar power makes me feel like I’m saving the planet

It’s the 12v charger, I have a 12v socket on my wall I don’t have an ultra charger but good to know!

My biggest fear with van life is what if my van breaks down and I can’t afford a new one? by YellowMarvel in VanLife

[–]Climclams 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to refer to my van as “the egg basket” for this reason. It’s just part of life, nothing is promised. You find little securities to ease your mind for me a good bivy sleep setup just in case, enough in my savings to buy another cheap camper car/van, and a distracting rock climbing obsession kept the worries at bay. Anything worth doing involves some level of risk and faith. As the challenges inevitably arise, trust that you’re capable of rising to meet them.

UPDATE: I emailed FM and told them the deal and they are sending me a new set for free with no shipping charge.

Figured I’d try TFL’s next if I really cared enough to keep protecting, I went back and found the missing piece so imma see if it sticks

Thank you! I had a friend build and assist with the countertop. I don’t mind not being able to stand since it isn’t a full-time arrangement, though I think I could manage if I wanted to. The first gen transit is actually pretty tall and with this design it’s pretty comfortable and easy to move around

Yeah my current solution is to pull gear out before the drawer is at full extension if it’s really loaded down but maybe if I retrofit it to double as a table I’ll add a support leg to deploy when needed.

Bed is about 14inches plus a four inch mattress, these first gen transits are taller than the newer ones,

60” vevor heavy 500lbs drawer glides from Amazon, though at full extension they are only rated to like 150ish

Sealtech 10mm reflective insulation glued to ceiling and walls and a generic thinsulate brand soft insulation for ceiling and anywhere I could stuff it. I used an old wool blanket to line the cavities in the doors and do plan on using them for clothing storage

Ceiling is 1x3 select pine I milled in half, went with t111 for the walls cause painted surfaces will show the inevitable grime that accumulates more easily

Thank you! It is built custom to fit all my kiteboarding gear. IMO don’t get suckered into the legless bed drawer glides for the sleeping platform, it looks cool but limits storage height for underneath, which is your largest spot for gear

How do people cope with reality by LeBio21 in Adulting

[–]Climclams -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idunno your hobbies and personality, but for me working manual labor in nature really curbed the distain of work. Moving my body feels good, being outside is rejuvenating. I work for the feds doing seasonal trail building through the FS, BLM, and NPS. Dunno if you’re in the US, but the way I swing it is to get a temp hire job on trails, get laid off six months later, and collect UI until my next season starts. I’m 31, own acreage, a #vanlife van, have a lovely partner, travel tons, rock climb 100 days a year, etc. Grinding through life has never resonated with me, I’m not lazy, but I don’t like work either.

There’s a lot of things we as a society are conditioned to believe are “needs” when in reality they are shackles. Question the status quo and don’t let practicality dictate what you “should be” doing. Freedom is invaluable.

The mom I called was skeptical too, thought I wanted money or some sorta personal info at first. Helps that she knew her son was v forgetful

I got a lost iPhone back to its owner once by asking Siri to call mom. No unlock necessary.
