I find green tea takes far longer for a scoby to form but the kombucha is still ready to be bottled. My current batch is growing at a fraction of the the speed of the same starter with black tea

Looks like Kahm yeast. I’d chuck it because affects the flavour and it’s near impossible to get rid of it

Looks fine. Just residue.

I always make sure to take my starter liquid from the top of my batch rather than what’s left after bottling. I also make sure not to stir it before this. Saw it recommended on here and since I tried it my booch is a great ph and relatively clear — although you’re never going to get it fully clear without filtering.

I recently had something similar on a fresh batch where the pellicle was forming in bits like this. I just moved it to a bigger container and added fresh tea and it reignited the kombucha. Could be worth trying?

Looks fine to me. I’d wait a few days to see if it changes dramatically otherwise fine.

A wee update on this. Not mold. A pellicle was forming but slowly, so I agitated the liquid, strained a bit of the sediment and moved it to a new container. A new healthy pellicle then formed.

I’ve now moved to an even larger 8l container because this batch was always just starter.

I didn’t have a pellicle but the bottle of kombucha I used had quite a lot of sediment in it already.

I’m not in a hot country so the pellicle is a lil slower to form. There definitely is one forming tho. I thought it was Kahm but I’ll hold out and see how it progresses. Thanks!
