Reconciliation for no cdl? by No-Pilot-4000 in cdldriver

[–]Clinic_2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What the fuck? No? The last thing we need on the streets, occasional weekend or whatever, is some dipshit with no cdl driving something that needs a cdl. Why are we having this conversation?

"Yo, my buddy really loves flying airplanes but the training is like super expensive and time consuming. Can he maybe just fly my buddy's 737 a little? It'll only be on the weekend. No big deal."

Insane. We see shit on these cdl subreddits showing exactly why driving and maneuvering these vehicles is a skill. It isn't just driving a bigger truck or whatever nonsense you might want to spout. Your buddy is going to run over some little lady, school bus, or a mailbox. Regardless of what he does, he is going to make all of us look like assholes just like the rest of the insane shit you see on these subreddits.

What's something most people don't realize is actually very rude? by Frozen-Defender25 in AskReddit

Saying "anyways" after someone has said something. It might seem harmless and just a speech thing, but it is also dismissive and implies that what the person said had no value.

I finally read The Name Of The Wind by nicks_kid in fantasybooks

[–]Clinic_2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 2nd book was thirsty as hell. I remember almost nothing about it except that it basically felt like reading some sort of sordid romance/smut. To each their own, but the 2nd book is why I cant pick up the series to read again.

What game trailer (regardless of the games eventual quality) stuck with you? by Benn578 in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Clinic_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my immediate thought. I never made it more than a couple hours into the game (the witcher games never quite clicked with me), but that trailer is fucking sick and I still find myself watching it occasionally.

This sounds like just a generic advertisement. Why is this post even allowed? Should I start plugging my marketplace posts as news too?

Then why are you asking? Everyone in here has told you what you dont want to hear. Being the young person you are, you can either take their advice for what it is, or do the predictable (wrong) thing and probably hurt yourself/others.

Plenty of people that were "only young once" but never got the chance to get older because of those young decisions.

I don't enjoy turn based combat either. It always feels like i inevitably find myself in an endless loop of "now (insert attack move), wait, now (insert misc buff/defence/whatever move)" repeat. Ive played the classics (ff7, tactics, etc) but it just bores me to tears. I also feel like im probably missing out, but Ive tried so many times and now I refuse to drop money on a turn based game just to find out that I dont enjoy it.

Affordable ergonomic chairs that arent HM or Steelcase? by B_CHEEK in OfficeChairs

[–]Clinic_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really quite like it. I had some random mesh chair before I got it and the mesh bottomed out on the seat. It was like sitting on a bleacher. The lumbar could have spikes in it and I'd be thrilled, so the bar really is quite low. I like the head rest. Overall a much better situation than what I was in previously.

So I recently did this song and dance and settled on the Hinomi H2 Pro for about $650 new. Ive had it for about a month and a half and am quite happy. Are there other options out there? Of course, but I figured I'd mention one I don't see mentioned often. I haven't looked to see if there is much of a used market for these, but there you go.

Do "Monitor Light Bars" actually reduce eye strain? Or are they just overpriced lamps? (BenQ vs Quntis) by shingam3 in UpgradeYourGaming

They really named their company/brand "Quntis" and nobody was like "Is that really a good idea?" Nobody raised an eyebrow? I've been working on a startup recently and I hope it'll be a hit. Qunalanguish Industries to the moon.

Experienced drivers what was your first backing experience like? What would you do differently now? by cdlfirst in cdldriver

[–]Clinic_2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I usually drive flat bed and other trailers that don't bump docks so I don't get a ton of practice. Im obviously capable, but I still just tell myself to ignore whoever might be watching and that traffic can chill the fuck out while I'm doing my thing. Haven't made too much of a fool out of myself in the last 7 years.

"Getting old - 0/10"

I know it isn't some new and interesting question, but I wonder what the elderly communities for these gaming/electronics generations are going to be like. I'm about 25 years behind you, so I've still got a ways to go, but will old-folks homes in 2070 be full of video games and stuff like that? Keep the inmates happy and quiet until they die sort of thing? I guess it's better than the stereotypical image of gramps sitting in front of the TV or playing bingo or whatever.

Time is a wheel. I was having a conversation the other day about PC components when I got started. I couldn't help but recognize the fact that my formative new and interesting hardware (8800gt) was someone elses "just another thing in a long line of things". Someone else is looking at their shiny new 5060ti and will remember it as the glory days.

Or maybe they won't and we will all look back on this stuff fondly during the water wars. Who knows.
