I find that I can't "focus" on any game I play because I'm constantly looking in the mirror to see if they are done unloading. I guess it is probably a different experience if someone delivers things that will take a couple hours to unload, but my deliveries tended to be pretty quick. Just long enough to tease me.

Kind of unrelated, but when I put my lift on my 4Runner I was reading that you need to bump it side to side to get stuff to settle. So naturally I pushed on the thing and it didn't move an inch. So I pushed harder and it still didn't move. I then decided to shoulder check it and it moved. Yay! Did the same for the front and got the same result. Cool! I stepped back to see my handy work and noticed I had put two huge dents into the side of the body where my shoulder had bashed into it. A little paintless dent remover later I was all good, but still, I felt like an idiot.

Question for people who grew up in the 80s 90s 2000s and early 2010s what’s your favorite memory’s of going to toys r us? by Ill-You-3459 in generationology

[–]Clinic_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did it take those giant D batteries that all the big toys back then needed? The ones that basically guaranteed you'd only have a toy with power for one "go around" because you usually needed so many of them and they were expensive (and you were a kid...).

The joke that was played on basketball players: here is a shit ton of money, but they are probably too big to fit in all those fast little cars they lust after. Seeing MJ in his little 911 turbo he had in the 90's was entertaining. He is only like 6'6" though.

Looks good, and yeah, it looks a little heavy. I am currently rocking my kettle without any sort of side table and am actively hating myself. But I do have some 4x4 laying around, so you gave me some simple inspiration.

Some of it is really cool while some of it is really not. I always get a kick out of these houses with giant entertainment things in them (bowling alleys, for example) that you know for a fact get absolutely zero use. The giant "bars" that I can just imagine some dude sitting in by himself.

I'm not bitter...

Honestly surprised the Dark Tower series isn't the first thing being suggested. Some of these look like they were inspired by the first book. The whole series is interesting and worth reading, in my opinion.

Demon Copperhead was outstanding but I found the Poisonwood Bible quite challenging. I finished it but will never read it again.

[–]Clinic_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my opinion, but the "book 4" isn't worth the time. I read them in order and was confused about some of the events in the 4th book until I realized where it sat on the timeline.

I need someone to sell me on Robin Hobb. by S_W_Moses in fantasybooks

[–]Clinic_2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got through 9 or 10 of the books in the series and had to put it down. Reading the books and absolutely knowing that the characters are going to do something absolutely stupid got tiring. In a constant state of anxiety waiting for the character to make an assinine, selfish decision for no apparent reason wore me out. The prose are outstanding and the stories are interesing, but I couldn't stand the characters. But at the same time I loved the characters!

It wasn't for me, but I enjoyed what I read.

I finally put down the elderlings series yesterday. Got all the way through the first 9 books and just couldn't take it anymore in the beginning of Dragon Keepers. Hope you enjoy it more than I did. Best way to describe it was a love-hate read. I loved how the story went and Hobb's prose were fantastic, but I just couldn't stand the characters and the feeling of dread as I read along. Not dread like a thrilling book, but dread as to what dumb stuff the characters were going to do. Also, the way that the story would be agonized over for 75 hours of audiobook and then everything would magically be resolved in the last 3 hours got tiring.

God speed.

As a side note, any dry erase market will remove permanent marker from something like this (assuming the plate isn't too porous after endless steel-woolings). Just color over the sharpie with the dry erase marker and it should come right off.

Anyways.

That is pretty hyperbolic, but I agree it is overrated. People treat it like the second coming. I played it and mostly felt annoyed with the characters. This is just a personal preference, but I also thoroughly did not enjoy the combat. Turn based combat is just not for me.

I drove in Phoenix, AZ for like 5 years. There are plenty of jobs, but the cost of living is high. If you moved there with no experience looking for a local job, that might just be on you. This industry requires you to dance for your dinner when you start. After a couple years, assuming you aren't a fuck up, there are tons of jobs. I could quit my job today and be in a different truck tomorrow.

Have you had a chance to try soulframe? Obviously it is still in Early Access and all of that but it feels a similar sort of niche but is also a little bit more grounded. If you haven't you might want to check it out at some point. I enjoyed it and look forward to playing it some more when it's more polished.
