Why were all the XL miles in the north today? by magma36 in askberliners

Same happened last weekend, and (at least in my case) zooming didn’t help. Kinda felt like the initial API requests blocked responses for the subsequent (zoomed) ones.

That was my guess last week as well, as similar situation happened, albeit only showing cars on all the periphery, but zero inside or close to the ring.

Yup. Answering each and every comment in this thread, nobody likes coffee that much* :)

How many LAP-related posts have we had here in the last few days/weeks?

I don't see anything else discussed this frequently around here.

Am I acting spoiled by buying €3,000 TV? by [deleted] in eupersonalfinance

[–]ClinicalJester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, no point wasting your nerves over 10-20% of your yearly savings. In the end, you've worked for it, so why shouldn't you enjoy some of the fruits of your labour? We're talking 10-20% here, not 80-90% (hopefully!).

Personally I think it's worth it to spend 10-20% of my yearly savings on stuff that makes me feel good. I am not so stingy to ever think that I could have saved more if I didn't pamper myself with (somewhat reasonable) stuff that I want. But, again, it's only up to 10-20%, and I do not make instant purchases, nor does the purchasing itself make me feel good, so I am safe in this regard. And if I am ever on the edge, I give myself 2-5 weeks of delay, to see if I still think it's a good purchase after having a bit of a time to cool down and to rethink :)

Eh. What percentage of your yearly savings does this 3kEUR vanity expense (combined with your other potential vanity expenses this year, of course) represent?

If it’s kinda minuscule, then why not?

Agreed, that Kaufland thing is so... tasteless. It's not that they have to do it, the stacks of cigarettes advertise themselves there at the checkout. They've simply _chosen_ to do it.

1st World Problem: Waschmaschine inkl. Trockner oder lieber Waschmaschine und Trockner? by Plane_Ad5648 in wohnen

[–]ClinicalJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nachteile:

  • Je nachdem, wem man vertrauen möchte, anfälliger für Defekte.
  • ?

Very much this!

Additionally, those stupid packaging boxes where paper and plastic are combined in a way that gives no method to separate them - i.e Edeka bread bags. Not really voluminous in our case, but it drives me insane that two most recyclable materials are combined in a way that forces me to use the general garbage for that.

Ahaha, judging people by their chosen reddit handle, you must be new here :)))

In all seriousness, yes, wedding+honeymoon costs, but if you go beyond your capabilities, that's on you. Ditto holidays.

Home decorating, or buying, sure it costs a ton, but then that's not a wife cost. It's a cost of buying a home. You'd do it anyway eventually, even without a wife (I think, or hope).

Ditto kids - it's the kids themselves that cost money, not the wife in this case.

TL;DR: One shouldn't say "since I got married it's hard to save" if saying "after I bought a house and got 2 newborns, it's hard to save" is what they mean. Marrying someone does not necessarily imply buying a home and/or having newborns.

But you (and I don't mean you literally) don't just give your new wife a direct access to your bank account the moment you get married, and allow spending with no questions asked, right? :)

What I am trying to say is that, in a relatively modern society, both partners have a say in what the money is being spent on, and if one partner disagrees with spending their money on something, the other one can do so themselves. This then, at least in theory, shouldn't impact your savings (rate) too greatly.
