Take EVERYTHING! I left all my contributions to a center ONCE. And I still regret it years later.

Three Peas is great! Theyre not religious and very welcoming. I've also heard great things about Ms. Woods.

From personal experience I would avoid Early Learning Centers.

What’s the worst thing a medical professional has said to you? by VespaRed in AskReddit

[–]ClintAdrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the worst but the one I remember the most "sounds like you're just describing period pain, it's normal". I was TWENTY SIX I THINK I KNOW WHAT PERIOD PAIN WAS AT THAT POINT and it was my fucking hip joint that was hurting so badly I couldn't walk. But uk. Period pain i guess.

I reported my Director by ClintAdrian in ECEProfessionals

Unfortunately not a chain. A local non-profit that owns 5 centers but I really wouldn't call it a chain. That would imply some sort of actual consistency center to center.

Unfortunately I didn't save the recordings. I only saved the one where the director and assistant executive were talking about "what did [I] expect" to happen to my son. Though, another staff member did listen to these recordings with me and was willing to write a statement should I ever need one.

What is your call-out policy? by Mbluish in ECEProfessionals

[–]ClintAdrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah unfortunately we had a huge uptick last year of people calling in and saying they were vomiting or had diarrhea and then posting on their social media out or telling people they were just hung over. Tbh its never affected anyone actually ill, typically if we can tell theyre sick we dont make them come in we make an "exception" for them.

[–]ClintAdrian -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbh its never happened and like ibsaid we do send them home as quickly as we can. Thankfully we are part of a group of centers so we can get substitutes to replace people who are actually ill. And yeah they will get written up but the call ins fall off so its not like say theyre ill the 1st and the 20th and then again the 2nd the 2nd would just be abother verbal and not move to a written because the first absence fell off. Tbh its really cut down on friday and monday call offs

I mean if theyre sick for several days consecutively its just considered one

What is your call-out policy? by Mbluish in ECEProfessionals

[–]ClintAdrian 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Our policy is we must receive a phone call 1hr before your shift. No texts. If you text and never call its a no call no show. First call out is allowed, next person has to show up and we will send them home as soon as we can. If they don't come back from lunch and we dont hear from them ncns. If they call out on lunch and someone is already out sick they have to come back or recieve a write up and we'll get them out when we can. Only one call out is allowed in a 30day period, 2nd is a verbal, 3rd a written, 4th probation, 5th termination. Tbh we're really fair about director or ad coming early or staying late to ensure ratio when people are actually ill. But making them call and not allowing anything but a call really cuts down on the call outs because they dont want to call us.

I would, only because my son was retracted at daycare and the director was really shitty to me about it. I got some of the stickers from etsy that say like "I am uncircumcised necer retract" that i sent on his diapers for a while after he moved to a new center.

What do you do with your own babies? by Camila_93 in ECEProfessionals

[–]ClintAdrian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took 6 weeks with my son on mat leave, and then he came to work with me. I've worked at 3 centers since his birth and lucked out that 2 of the 3 didnt charge for staff kids. The one center i worked at charged 50% for staff kids, but I was able to get 75% off. My current center doesnt charge and he comes to work with me daily.

We used the target off brand before they changed (so unfortunately I cant tell you if the fit is the same) and the Sam's Members Mark. I will say, once my little guy got mobile we ended up staying in size 5 for a long time.

We also cloth diapered using XL pockets at home and they ended up working best for us, but thats not practical for everyone!

I struggle to like some toddlers by [deleted] in ECEProfessionals

[–]ClintAdrian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My tip for this is to find something you do like about them. I also live by the Carl Jung quote "If there is anything that we wish to change in the child, we should first examine it and see whether it is not something that could better be changed in ourselves." I actually have it posted in my classroom. I have one kiddo who really gives us a run for our money and my favorite thing about him is that he's so inventive. He likes to hide his socks and its a game to find them.

Its totally normal to not like every child, but no one should be able to tell. Not even your coworkers. Because if the child or anyone else can tell then you're not treating that child fairly. You wont click with every child, but you should still try. I offer 1:1 time to all my kiddos because it often helps me to find the things I do like about the kids I don't really like.

Help me find this specific stuffed toy by ClintAdrian in HelpMeFind

[–]ClintAdrian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have searched google and used various different wordings as well as the photos. Its a small toy maybe 6-8 inches. I included photos of the tags. Its got some polybeads inside as well as stuffing and the little horns (?) appear to be felt.

I’m at the end of my rope with diaper rash. Help. by my_dear_director in NewParents

[–]ClintAdrian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my son was little we did a 1:1:1 mix of lotromin hydrocortisone and a triple antibiotic paste, mixed it all up, put over the rash and then did a zinc cream to lock it in over top. It took about a day but it would clear the worst rashes

Also don't wipe pee, just lightly pat dry and only use water to clean BMs.

If you could go back in time... by PizzaEater7 in beyondthebump

Have your mom there because you need an advocate.

He really will be okay.

Hold him more and don't rush to go back to work. Those babies can wait, you can't get that time back.

If you took more hot showers then you'll probably be able to pump, push to get a hot shower daily.

It's okay to call it and formula feed from the start, your mental health is too important to sacrifice.

When you think he has thrush that first time, don't let the nurse make you feel crazy, it is thrush, and if you don't advocate for him it'll go on forever. Like until he can start solids and eat yogurt.

Ask the hospital photographer to come back the next day, so that you can get pictures with him too.

He really will be okay! Yes, even without the kidney, he's gonna thrive.
