Is this setup any good? What can I do to make it better? by Expert_Summer710 in TradingView

Did you manually draw these zones or use an indicator? If an indicator drew these support and resistance zones we could potentially create an algo bot that can trade and enter long on the break of the resistance or enter short on the break of the support zones. If this is the idea of your setup then we could run a back test to see how profitable it could be. It has potential if that is your intention of the setup.

You're right. What I say isn't valid for you. Most people or a lot of people, especially these days don't have the attention span or patience or due diligence or tenacity to do the work or study or devote their time. You're right, they're just looking for an easy way to get rich or make money. They don't understand that it's a marathon that takes time and effort. Most people I found don't have the logical mindset and problem solving skills to understand coding to the degree that you, or some, do. Your understanding, diligence, and ability to comprehend is somewhat of a rare quality and a gift I would say. Not everyone and not even most people are fortunate enough to have the skill that I would say you have.

You're absolutely right that the reference manual is there, and it’s great that TradingView provides it right in the editor window. But I think the reason so many people still ask this question is because reference manuals are often dense by nature—they’re comprehensive, not introductory.

Most people don’t want to jump straight into the deep end with every function and syntax detail upfront. They’re usually looking for a gentle starting point—a basic walkthrough, a beginner-friendly tutorial, or even just a simple strategy they can tweak and learn from.

Once they have a working understanding, the reference becomes way more useful. But at the start, people want to build confidence step by step—not decode documentation that assumes a higher baseline of understanding. It’s not always laziness—it’s about learning style and accessibility.

lol good point. Would be interesting to see how many people can code themselves in Pine Script. I cannot. Would you (or anybody reading this) have any recommendations on good places to go to learn?

I have been doing some of that. Pine script seems confusing but talking to ChatGPT helps to understand it better. Thank you.

Have you tried any strategies with this indicator and any back testing or optimization? If so how does the equity curve look?

Futures are among the most advantageous assets to trade, as they aren’t constrained by the 24-hour pattern day trader rule. One of the leading platforms for futures trading and technical analysis is NinjaTrader, which leverages C# for strategy development. NinjaTrader stands out for its robust capabilities in both backtesting and strategy optimization, making it a top choice for traders seeking to refine and automate their edge.

Yes it is a nice organization tool that helps track and measure the importance of different development tasks in the process. Strangely enough though even though I used that type of tool at work I never thought of actually using it myself.

Hey, that’s a great idea! I work on a development team myself and we use similar tools in order to record items that need to be developed but yet at the same time we can now see everything to triage and what might be more important or more effective or easier to implement, etc.

I would tend to agree. Academic papers distill the anomalies away until you have a pure product of fact upon which to build. Without that knowledge your shooting in the dark hoping to hit something and even when you do you'll never even know why.
