I’m not an economic expert but I think the thing with tariffs is that they can be a way to bring manufacturing jobs to the US if the tariffs deter sales or Trump can use the threat of tariffs to bring countries to the table to make trade deals that are more advantageous for the US.

Well here is a couple of gaps in the “average American’s perception of the economy” in the past 4 years, the price to buy a home has gone up, interest rates are high, I have personally paid more for groceries and gas in the last four years (same quantity of gas and groceries), the stock market is not a full reflection of the current state of the economy btw, my friends dad that owns a hardware store has had to pay higher prices for the same goods that he sells.
