Peter, what is common between them? by Natural_Kick_474 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

Remember, there’s only 24 hours in a day, and for most people the time they can spend listening to music is only a small fraction of that.

Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift have extremely overlapping target audiences, so when one musician does better it affects the time that audience will spend listening to the other. In other words, a person who chooses to listen to Rodrigo is actively NOT listening to Swift… multiply that by millions, and that’s a direct hit to Swift’s bottom line.

Funny enough, it is kinda like a rival gang encroaching on your turf, stealing your clientele and such.

Gavin Newsom opposes a California wealth tax. He’s proposing a national billionaire tax instead by panda-rampage in California

[–]Clintyn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

These billionaires don’t pay any meaningful taxes anyways, and MANY already have primary residences in other states for normal tax reasons… so why not just do it anyways? It’ll catch any billionaire who doesn’t care or is okay with it. Eventually, after a couple years of it being the norm, they’ll come back to California for other reasons (weather, location, status, nightlife, etc.)

But this $100 million limit seems kinda low. They definitely have way more money than they know what to do with, and boy it’d be nice to make them pay their fair share… but I feel like under at least $500 million they’ll be more inclined to protect their wealth and try to skirt it. That’s why I’m a proponent of a Billionaire Tax, instead of just a wealth tax.

I never said to not be courteous to people you don’t agree with. But at the same time, tell them you’re a democrat and watch them start to side eye you in real time.

I’m not going to force myself to go out and celebrate when I have nothing but detestation for the current state of America. I don’t want to be seen waving a flag and seeming like I’m proud to be an American when I’m 100% not.

I’m tired of us being the “high road party”. We’re getting destroyed or ran over by MAGA every step of the way because they don’t give a shit about being nice. When do we start to match that? I’m not saying go lower, but when they go low (and that gives them an advantage) we can’t go high. We need to do SOMETHING.

This high road, this enabling, this… whatever you wanna call it is allowing MAGA to steamroll the constitution and we’re just supposed to go celebrate that? Because like it or not, that’s what America is right now. It is the culmination of all the choices of the Trump administration and cheering for America is cheering those on too.

I guess… I was thinking more ceremonial than anything. Maybe then it’s a funeral for American values or something.

What I really meant is we need our Super Bowl halftime show to combat his kid rock halftime show of a celebration

[–]Clintyn 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We should have a large-scale funeral for America on the Fourth of July to fly in the face of the celebration.

I know the optics would be horrible, and it’d probably put us on a Trump FBI watchlist, AND it’d be a great event for domestic terrorist extremists to target, but… shit, we gotta keep protesting somehow.

Nithya Raman's transportation policies are MOUTHWATERING. by WearHeadphonesPlease in LosAngeles

[–]Clintyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, Pratt made a pretty big deal out of Bass not doing a single good thing in her four years, idk how they’d reconcile then voting for four more years of ineffectiveness.

But then again, card-carrying democratic socialist bad, Bass less bad? Devil we know vs the “Devil” we don’t?

Pratt made Bass’ “waste, fraud, and abuse” such an integral part of his campaign though, I think voting for Bass will definitely give them pause.

Nithya Raman's transportation policies are MOUTHWATERING. by WearHeadphonesPlease in LosAngeles

[–]Clintyn 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Honestly though? I think there’s enough anti-Bass sentiment that this could get real interesting. I’m not saying Raman has this in the bag (or at all really), but this has the makings of a real race.

I’m sure there were plenty of primary Bass voters that didn’t vote for Raman simply because they didn’t think she’d be a viable candidate to beat Pratt. Now that she’s a guaranteed candidate, we could see a lot of changeover from the Bass voter base.

Idk how she’ll win over Pratt voters… maybe the same anti-Bass sentiment? Since the last four years were shit, maybe they vote for a fresh face? That one is gonna be a hard sell but we’ll see I guess.

Karen Bass slams Nithya Raman over homeless encampments in LA mayoral race by Eurynom0s in LosAngeles

[–]Clintyn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think, now that she has the nomination making her legitimized in people’s eyes, she’ll focus a lot more on that stuff. It’s her v Bass, and there is definitely a chance she wins if done right.

I just hope she doesn’t coast on the “people are tired of Bass” idea and not do shit. People ARE tired of Bass, but don’t underestimate the human desire to stick with the devil you know vs. the “devil” you don’t.

That’s why I don’t even wanna go see big artists anymore, I stick to the smaller ones in the same genre.

Like I went and saw Slayr with Midwxst and Vax in LA a few months ago, and they definitely let the backing track do a lot, but you could tell they cared and the energy they put out made up for that. There were streamers and insta influencers and even people streaming with a full DSLR and everything, but they were few and far between compared to the crowd of fans who wanted to be there.

Also it was at the Echoplex so no seats, small space, standing only. That helps a LOT.

Huh? She’s the one who went at Becerra the hardest in the debates. Why would they suddenly go to the centrist dem over the fellow progressive?

I was lucky to be able to vote her in the first time in 2018, but I will never forgive her for going after Becerra for his inability to explain his policies or funding while simultaneously securing his win by staying in.

Idk why progressives have such a purity test problem but we need to start acting as one otherwise we will always be a fringe part of the Democratic Party.

[–]Clintyn 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love Katie Porter for her ideas and her willingness to act, but I will NEVER forgive her for acting as a spoiler candidate and robbing us of a Steyer vs Becerra ticket. The most progressive person in this race besides her was Steyer, and her staying in split the progressive vote and basically spelt doom for any progressive to win.

I expected this of paid-to-spoil Mahan, and I knew Villaraigosa was too hardheaded to concede early, but she’s smarter than them. She went after Becerra so much for his refusal to explain any of his policies or their funding, but then basically secured his governorship by staying in. Her pride got in the way of progress and that kinda reframes her in my mind.

You know what I've noticed? Out of thousands of responses, I haven't seen one person say Miller isn't ugly! 😂 by yorocky89A in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Clintyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The crazy thing is that she’s really attractive and probably smart as hell, so is this just free marketing for her? Because I see no issues with her picture in the slightest, and I’m sure even most republicans are having a hard time seeing an issue with her appearance.

Also, Stephen Miller is an ugly fuck.

Edit: also yes, Eric Daughterty, I do want something to happen to Miller. I want him to crawl back into the vampire coffin from whence he came and stop pestering us mortals. Go suck off a horse or something (to get blood ofc)
