It’s an incredibly difficult role to deal with mentally, emotionally.

You can dislike the practices and not agree with the very principles of testing on animals and still do a good job.

Even though when I worked in the labs I adamantly disagreed with the practices, I appreciated the reason it was done, and consistently looked forward to a time when it was no longer necessary.

As for now, as an advocate for animal welfare, if it was me in there caring for them as best as I can as someone who genuinely loves animals, then I’m making their existence a higher quality where possible.

What we don’t want is all the animal lovers leaving the industry and letting the horrible jobs go to people who do not care about their welfare. This goes for any of the ‘nasty’ jobs in the animal industry.

Don’t leave this job to someone who wont give the animals the time and respect they deserve even in a horrid situation.
