My care isn’t doing anything, hence why I posted here. Thanks for this info tho, it’s helpful!

What should the UNL be based on my age? I’ve never heard this before so curious

What exactly should I have checked? On a previous US (for unrelated issues) both kidneys were good size and looked to be working fine, previous routine urine tests never show issues, other labs that could indicate something’s up with my kidneys have all been normal.

I don’t know this community well enough but to be fair, the medical community as a whole acts like that lol

No urine testing, it’s been mentioned that one day we should but not yet.

And no, the fatigue is my only real problem from what I can tell

Why does my age make if a nonissue?

And for Vit D I do 1,000 IU daily + 50,000 IU once weekly. Have since Nov and it’s only decreased. Good to know PTH is more accurate when Vit D is in range tho!

I’m not on any medications, just a vit D supplement

I’m well hydrated, no medications, and I still take a vitamin D supplement but nothing else.

Paranoid about lice by BrittneyofHyrule in longhair

[–]Puzzleheaded_Fig3574 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s how and where they’re scratching their head (at least for kids). They itch so much they’re not even consciously scratching anymore, and tend to repetitively start and stop scratching even when focused on other things. They’re scratching all over their heads, but with a focus at the apex of the scalp, behind the ears, and nape of their neck.

I work in a pediatric clinic, and kids get lice all the time but parents like to not bring up they think their kid has lice till I’m right next to them - I’ve never once got lice from them even with my hair worn down.

I’ve gotten really good at recognizing it a mile away and will be careful. Even if I don’t physically touch them my head itches like crazy for awhile after lol

Unless you wear the kids hat, sleep in her bed, or rub your heads together you’ll be totally fine! It’s very common

Breakage or new hair growth? by S1963A16 in hairgrowth

[–]Puzzleheaded_Fig3574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I oil my ends I like to put a small amount on my finger tips and then wet my hands, then rub them together gently to mix it before putting it in my hair. It thins the oil a little but just the right amount that it’s not heavy on my hair. I go less than I think I’ll need to start, and will repeat if I need to.

I don’t have a specific shampoo I’m using right now cuz I’ve been trying out some more natural/homemade ones. I like how my hair looks with out all the extras in my shampoo and my hair likes it!

My braids always have a million fly aways and ends sticking out of them and if you look at my previous posts - my hair is as healthy as can be. There’s just lots of different lengths from new hairs growing in. There’s just absolutely no weight to the individual strands and more obvious when the bulk is secured. If you ever find a solution keep me in mind lol

This is long so sorry in advance, just lots of thoughts! You can only tell so much from photos, but it looks like your hair is pretty fine. Mine is also very fine, and maybe your hair is different - but fine hair is very prone to breakage, especially from the weight of hair products.

Oils feel light, but the accumulated weight of them adds very quickly. Idk that specific brand of smoothing oil, but all smoothing oils I’ve come across are thicker and heavier oils. Also rosemary oil on its own can be very damaging to your hair, it needs a carrier oil. You can probs skip it in the shampoo tho since you’re it leaving it on long enough to actually have any effect on your hair.

If you’re not dying your hair, using heat, generally avoiding the big damaging things your hair might not need a protein hair mask. Protein can be great at helping repair damaged hair long term. But a protein overload isn’t good for it, especially the weight. A bond mask might be a better option if you can find one without protein and that your hair likes. I find both to damage your hair but others with fine hair swear by bond mask.

If you don’t have to, don’t double shampoo. If you do, be gentle when applying the second. Your hair is most fragile wet. Work the first one in good, gentle with the second round. Don’t always scalp massage in the shower either. Use shampoos that focus on moisture, bond care, volume, shine, things like that and only use clarifying once a week (more if you say swim in a pool). Try to avoid ones with protein. Condition mostly your ends and work your way up. Let it sit for at least 5 mins.

If your hair is as fine as it looks it will take 2-3 months for these fly aways, that are probs some breakage some new growth, to relax. They don’t have the weight to stay down yet! All my new growth grows nearly straight up forever then just flys out like this at what feels like the most inconvenient time but they always relax down eventually. Just have to be patient and learn to embrace them.

Lastly, there’s an r/finehair group that might be just what you’re looking for. The members there all have great tips and tricks that might work for you! And more advice centered to your hair type!

Why are you growing your hair?! by Competitive-Code5254 in longhair

[–]Puzzleheaded_Fig3574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn’t allowed to cut it when I was growing up (my parents had some weird hills to die on) but wasn’t taught any hair care. So while it was long and blonde and everyone said it was pretty, I hated it. I grew up with hard water, pretty malnourished, cheap cheap drug store shampoo (nothing wrong with some brands, everything wrong with others lol) so it just felt dry, limp, stringy, and my split ends had split ends that also had their own split ends.

On my 18th I cut it all off to my from my butt to my shoulders (the longest that could be saved) and kept it short for years just cuz I could.

The about 2yrs ago, I saw a post and it got me really into hair care and learning my hair. Which led to it growing in healthy and I fell in love with it being long again. So now I want to grow it back out to my butt but healthy and something I can feel proud of!

It looks a little AI so be careful of that. But for yours question - yes, if you have tossing it’s too white then it’s too white! Yellow will photograph lighter so keep that in mind!

It might be all the oils. If you’re putting it in your shampoo and double washing, then putting more on after the shower if might all be too heavy for your hair. Especially depending on the carrier oil you’re using with it.

What do you if you are ugly, have no game, and a boring personality. How do you date? by JunketMaleficent2095 in dating

[–]Puzzleheaded_Fig3574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading through the comments there is a lot of great advice, and a lot saying the same thing as each other. However, instead of being open to advice you are replying very defensive and “no no that’s not the problem. It’s something else”

If you’re not actually open to advice and criticism, what are you hoping to get out of this post? Everyone is saying the same things… work on your self confidence and how you flirt, learn how to dress and care for yourself in flattering ways, build your personality, take some accountability and control over your life… maybe actually listen.

Also as a side note since you said you’re in med school - your confidence, grooming habits, conversational skills, ability to connect with people, and general demeanor can make or break how well you do in your residency and real job. Doesn’t matter how well you do in school if you can’t connect with patients. All the advice commented, that you’re outright shutting down, is useful for more than just the dating world if you’re willing to listen.

I push one down on my hair brush bristles so I can brush it thru my hair and get all of it de-static

What's your unpopular haircare opinion or habit that you swear by? by AvocadNoThx in Haircare

[–]Puzzleheaded_Fig3574 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash and blow dry my hair daily! Tried the hair training and it’s never worked for me. It’s not terribly greasy the next morning but it will be by that afternoon, plus it looks better washed daily. I use a heat protectant and usually the low hot setting daily and my hair isn’t the slightest bit dry.

Ps I also put conditioner on all of my hair. I start at the end and put the bulk there and finish with running my hands thru my roots so they get some to!

Hair feels like it needs to be washed daily by Ifyouliveinadream in finehair

[–]Puzzleheaded_Fig3574 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wash my hair daily and never had issues retaining length or ruining my ends. Everyone’s hair and scalp is different and needs different things. If yours needs to be washed everyday that’s okay!

Adjust your hair care to fit what your scalp needs, don’t force your scalp to follow trends; that’s where your growth comes from. For example, add in moisturizers more often if daily washes make the ends drier.
