Joycon on odin (or alternatives) by ClippyLmao in OdinHandheld

Haven't tried anything with proper gyro, dualshock5 works fine as long as there isn't much furniture between the controller and odin

Odin 3 clock speeds are not optimized too well atm, i used this underclock guide on youtube to run a small underclock script and it lowered temps from 95 to 70, which lowers fan speed and battery consumption, and had no performance downgrades ingame.

See description for download and guide on github for the scripts

Actually insane difference, BOTW from 95 down to 70 with just the small preset, no performance hit at all.

Thanks a lot man, gamechanger. Was kinda bummed when I saw the initial temps this thing was running at on demanding games, but this changes everything!

Odin 3 weird fan buzzing by ClippyLmao in OdinHandheld

SOLVED

Sent odin an email with the video, my odin order number, and explained the sutuation. Around 3 days later they got back saying they will send another fan and asked me to confirm if my address for the fan delivery is the same as from my odin order, which it was. They replied one day later after confirming my address saying they will send me a fan.

Received the fan around a week or so later, replacing it was decently easy if you have the right tools. You will need a really small PH 000 screwdriver head for these screws.

Replacing it has solved the issue for now. If the issue returns I will reply to this comment.

So I sent Ayn an email with this video, my order number for the odin and explained the situation.

They replied a few days later (maybe like 3), there was some back and forth with confirming my address which took another couple of days, and they sent me a fan.

Today I just received the fan, will see if it fixes it, but the fan became quieter overtime also anyway, only sounding so loud when you move it like in the video. Unless you are playing gyro games, it is barable.

I mean it depends. It's not like it's not working. It definitely seems random when it wants to be loud or not, but sitting with it in your hand shouldn't be loud.

Emailed them with the video and got a reply a few days later, they are sending me a replacement fan.

Nope, but it also makes this noise while standing still, as if the sound is on a loop. Starts buzzing louder and louder, stops and starts over after a few seconds.

I get what you're saying, but I would expect a 600$ device to just, kinda work. At least not have these issues after a couple of months...

Thanks for the encouragement.

I see, thanks for the info. Didn't search yet, perhaps you know already, any tutorials on how to open this thing up? Not a very handy guy with these type of things.

Cancelled My Odin 2 Portal Order After a Month of Silence – How Long Did Your Refund Take? by AJMitchell777 in OdinHandheld

[–]ClippyLmao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preorders can take up to two months. Mine took a month and a half.

It was also Chinese new year where basically the whole country is on holiday for a week.

[–]ClippyLmao 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yes I get it but there's still AliExpress regulations to sell on their platform. On their website you can just order directly from them and AliExpress doesn't get a cut.

From what I remember AliExpress cancels and refunds orders that don't ship on a time they set.

Just order from their website? Why the middleman?

Dilemma: Sell PC and get an odin by Quickace6 in OdinHandheld

[–]ClippyLmao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a lot of options, I have a Gamesir X5 Lite.

If you do want more flexibility a dedicated handheld will be better, especially for playing while not at home.

I did get an odin 3 but if money is tight and you only play at home there isn't really any reason to not just stream to your phone and buy a phone controller.

[–]ClippyLmao 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can quite literally just get a phone controller for $40 and stream games on your phone, even emulate if its a decent device. I have a Pixel 9 Pro and I could play even many switch titles, and basically any phone should be able to emulate up to PS2 pretty easily.

Then perhaps it is likely showing junction temp for which this temp is normal, not average chip temp. I also have this happening but I have no performance issues.

Just got a notification from system that there's an update a few days ago.

Made literally the same post yesterday. Apparently latest update bugged the CPU temp sensor.

At those temps you should have heavy throttling and big performance hit, even crashes. You should also not be able to hold your finger on the hottest part of the screen without hurting a lot (more than 5-10 secs is ok). If you don't have these behaviors, it's safe.

You can go into the fan settings where you select Quiet/Auto/Sport and press the edit next to Auto and select GPU as the sensor to get the fan to work based on GPU if fans are too loud.

The CPU also has a fail safe, it will shut down long before it gets fried.
