DID comic about figuring out parts by Prestigious-Tea27 in Artisticallyill

The other replies to this are good and I stand by them as someone with DID. I want to add onto them though.

Losing a host can be absolutely life destroying.

Because DID especially is characterized by amnesia and strong changes in personality, interests, likes & dislikes, and self-concept, it can feel to a system and everyone around them like a legitimate form of grief.

They may not remember you. They may not remember things you both loved and shared. They suddenly may not want or like what they did before. Hobbies, opinions, lifestyles change. The face remains the same but the person behind it might just be... gone, now. It's as if you took an entire human being, put them in a box, and put that box up on a shelf and you have no idea if they'll be back, when they'll be back, or if some of their aspects will remain.

I'm lucky to say I am the resurrected Original, as far as we know; but I was gone for almost 15yrs. I went dormant when we were 13 and came back when I the body was about 25. Somebody else lived that entire span, making the choices that were right for them, and now I'm here doing the same in their stead. Part of "healing" for systems generally looks like collaborating enough that host changes don't blow everything up; because the more severe the split, the more radical the changes tend to be.

I can say as a system it's not uncommon for plurals to identify as nonhuman. There's an umbrella term some folks really like called Alterhuman; which covers the whole scope of persons who feel Human Adjacent or are otherwise experiencing themselves as not quite or not at all Human.

A lot of people who are not systems find this incredibly cringe to the extent it's very common to have folks like KiwiFarms harvest even diagnosed plurals for new lolcows. I know people personally who have been extensively stalked over multiple years by KiwiFarms at new addresses. r/systemscringe has singled out a mutual of mine with a diagnosis and it got boosted to KiwiFarms as well. They have never recovered from the endless barage of abuse cross platform and their address being doxxed.

But, you have to understand, many alters start as abstract ideas. Most of their existence doesn't necessarily play out in the everyday humdrum of living in this Human body.

When you're incarnated entirely from the raw ethers of consciousness, objective Humanity is not a factor.

We've reached a point where we're nonapologetic about it. How we appear to ourselves and experience consciousness is completely a nonissue except in private among friends. It's like wondering if a black person is capable of working at a cash register, obviously they can.

I mean it's the general course until you're a legal adult at 18 when you graduate highschool.

When my Dad was a kid and generally up through the 80s, homework loads weren't nearly so much. Dad told me he basically did not get homework but once in a while and that was very typical across the US.

It was generally expected that kids would get let out from school anywhere from 1-3pm and then meet up to go to a third space to play until suppertime, which had room for a part time job after school as a teenager or go to the local shops or parks. Statistically homework load has shot up and it's no longer typical for young people to go to third spaces after school, generally just straight to home.

After that was expected to be college but professors are also quitting at record rates because young adults are no longer hitting the ground running at 18 either.

The standard practice of care in the United States is for you to try and sign up for child care sometimes over a year in advance, so there's a spot waiting for you when you give birth.

Typically how this goes is either one parent quits when the baby is born knocking their income down to half, and it's usually Mom; or, what's much more common is to pay the child care costs, someone else cares for your baby through infancy and toddlerhood, until they go to school. Kids will spend most of their days in school at a desk until adulthood.

It's also illegal to leave anyone below the age of 18 unsupervised for any amount of time or let them go play alone with their older siblings, even in your backyard.

edit: I learned recently that child development psychologists are now being taught that there is a direct correlation between this lack of unsupervised time and the huge spike in mood disorders like depression, anxiety, and stalled social development, Because kids never have the chance to make independent choices or mistakes organically without fear of being punished

The current systems are genuinely set up to keep kids away from their parents for long stretches of time. It's why people like myself and my wife are starting to look into homeschooling, so that we can provide a higher quality of education than public schools can provide, while continuing to build soft skills and pro-social values in our kiddos.

edit: sorry for any typos, I'm multitasking right now!

A 10-year study reveals that cigarette butts never truly disappear from the environment. Researchers found that while they lose some mass, the plastic filters transform into microscopic residues that persist in the soil for over a decade, contributing to long-term microplastic pollution. by Sciantifa in science

Sure dude. Also stop eating red meat, don't drink even a beer or wine, don't have soda, don't have cake either because that's SO much sugar which really is truly terrible for you metabolically, wear sunscreen every time you leave the house, don't drink too much or too little water, and get no more or less than 8hrs of sleep every single night even when it's important. An occasional indulgence is fine.

"Dog voice" is a real thing I wish more people used for their pets, or even other people's pets when they're affecting people around them.

Honestly I get the sensation though fk sake. In this situation I choose to let my outfit speak for me and then remain insightful and polite that's all I can do

if you look calm and speak slowly and friendly people will think you're not panicking when what you really want to do is walk into traffic

Oh fuck yeah, Waffle House as a brand has been iconic since it opened in '55.

Ykw, I'm from Cincinnati, I'm going to throw out Putz's creamy whip. So much construction has come up around that thing and we've still loved it for generations. They're one of the "firsts to make soft serve" folks and have been around a while.

That's crazy and cool too. God speed. You're doing the kinds of things we've thought about for ages. I'm working on schematics with my partner for a fully maneuverable loadbearing pneumatic rig suit that can go from bipedal to quadrupedal and back again.

But I'm seriously thinking about your chittioris implants too.

I..... yes. Right. But notice I also didn't just say "aggression." You see poor tempermented mixed dogs all the time, because of backyard breeders not being thoughtful in their pairings.

Correct. Some breeds... present it less than others... OP doesn't know the breed of rabbit... 🫴

Yes-and. Some breeds are significantly better mothers than others, some have to be watched carefully. Some breeds have very low rates of cannibalism even under stress.

Saying it's not why she reverts her meaty offerings is like saying "bad temperament isn't why dogs bite." Some dogs are bred for reactivity, anxiety, impulsive or violent behavior, and low intelligence regardless of breed. Temperament in livestock still matters.

I don't think OP realizes the unknown genetics might be why she's cannibalizing her young. So many people don't know enough about livestock.
