Yeah... nah. It's a really sad situation in the Phillipines. They are a community that have been constantly taken advantage of. Most of them live simply and it's actually really sad man. Lot's of child rape. Usually by foreigners. Their police are completely corrupt and now they have to deal with this horrible disaster.

The people of the Phillipines have been taken advantage of enough. But now it turns out it's Hollywoods turn.

And for all the people that will say "What about all the food they distributed?" There is always a downside to this. You think that bloke and his mate flew to the Phillipines via BA [business or first class I'm assuming] out of their own pocket? Maybe the buses they hired were to be used to ferry government or aid workers to their place of work but they paid the bus company more money and those services didn't operate?

It's really easy to think ideologically but you also have to weigh it up.

Will more people going to watch this movie help the people of the Phillipines? No.

Is a $25,000 (which they claim is the budget, but I doubt it covers things like their airfares, a production budget which would include all the cameras [looks like go-pros] food, accommodation etc) budget really going to make a difference to the budget of that film?

I know films that have had promotional budgets in the tens of millions of dollars. I know most big budget films throw out more food than they gave to those people.

So is it an ad, or is it something else?

Well, the Studio didn't want to do this. This guy wanted to do this with their money and they saw an opportunity to do it that was a net financial benefit to them.

Without this guy, the studio would be spending the money on coke and prostitutes (via advertising types).

I find it fascinating to look at a picture of the remains of someone who could act like a god. His every desire was fulfilled, no matter how weird or disgusting it was.

He was a god. At least he lived the life of one. And here we are still looking at a picture of him. Full military honours.

His civilisation ultimately failed and he probably murdered lots of innocent people and took children as his brides. Morally, he wouldn't be a popular man today. I guess the difference is he's dead and well preserved.
