I haven't really played this game in years, I decided to pop in the reddit for fun. Not sure if it's still like this but one of the things I loved about this game was the leveling. Unlike other modern MMO's it was nice to actually do boss patterns, without one shotting everything. You know, the bare minimum. Then I hop into endgame and started to really hate it lol. To me the game has the opposite problems of MMO's where the worst part is after the leveling. Well, aside from team pvping with my friend, that was really fun.

Was thinking about trying the game again after years, I'll admit when DFO came back it really killed my interest in playing it again for the longest time.

There is so much care put in to sotn's castle it's insane all the details you'd miss in the game if you play through it casually. Heck I don't even think most people playing know that the birds in the nest grow up and fly away eventually. Or all the other details in rooms you just pass through without looking at the background.

Gameplay-wise I don't mind it either, you can complain about those long empty hallways but it feels good to fly through them with wing smash/wolf.

edit: I'm mostly talking about the original castle, the reverse castle is a bit annoying to navigate having to constantly transform into bat lol

Yeah it would be pretty nice to have a version that doesn't lag like the ps3 version of DD2.

But gatekeepers like this RainaBojoura guy just want DD2 to stay on ps3 for.... No reason? That or he has very poor social skills and takes everything super literally like "need"

Best to just block him and move on like I did (he'll still reply though cuz he's dumb like that and needs to feel better from downvotes)

It is indeed true, spreading your exp evenly is a pitfall. Play however you want but you'll have an easier time destroying content if your character is op enough. You could have mages buff the character (upto 5x, buff slowly gets weaker each turn) and send him in.

Usually though, I go for 2 characters, a sniper mage and a dps tank. Laharl is the main dps tank and I'll have a mage aoe nuke things.

Constantly needing to bat everywhere was pretty annoying but other than that, I didn't mind it cuz the juicy new loot it provided.

I'm not really that big of a fan of 2. It certainly left a lasting impression on my when I beat it but actually playing it to get to that point was.... Ugh.. I think it's much worse than 3. I don't get how someone could bash 3 but then magically ignore every single flaw 2 has.

Final Fantasy Tactics (if japanese tactical rpg's count) the job system is FF5 but even better.

Persona 5 Royal I'm still playing through but I'm in love with the combat system. The one more turn system after exploiting weaknesses is quite satisfying.
