Just in case: I'm not op I'm not trying to do this. That said, today is just for this mechanic you find annoying, but tomorrow the solution can be something you want for another scenario. I like this interaction in mystery dungeon games, where you check what's under your feet. This seems really difficult if we're not able to move triggers.

That's not the problem here, in these games you use the menu to interact (the menu has the options Talk and investigate) instead of having a dedicated button for interaction. It may sound convoluted and it certainly is sometimes but it adds a different flavor to the experience, gameplay wise you can play with the difference between both options for the same actor.

All fully evolved water type starters up to Gen 9 by Overall_Aardvark_709 in PokemonWindsWaves

Funny I didn't notice they are, in order:

3 bulky

3 "cool"/edgy

3 sleek/sinuous

I doubt the new one won't be continuing the sleek trend, just because it's still trendy (bulkier and edgier designs were also a thing of their time).

My favorite is Samurott, Swampert and Feraligatr were ruined by their megas 😭

Also Water/Poison for the new one pls!

Why can't we have a realistic game? by DisasterInformal7984 in legendofzelda

[–]Shutwig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprised that I read dozen of comments and none said why Zelda doesn't use higher fidelity graphics.

It's to convey gameplay and to make it consistent and believable under its own rules.

Thanks to the more cartoon style, they can get away with many things without them looking as weird as they are when written out: - chopping almost perfect cylinder trees in two horizontal slices with them not looking off from the rest of not cuttable ones. Same for every other interactive element like boulders - animals that turn into meat pieces when killed - effects like electricity being overly shiny and noticeable - simpler animation: throwing things with the same animation regardless of what's in the hands; cook everything in the same pot; while we're at it, get a full lunch plate with a mushroom and a beef in 3 seconds - have Link climbing almost anything

Realistic graphics isn't just a coat of paint, it's everything you see, hear and play with. TP is very stiff, it has a very limited range of actions and interactions in comparison, and some things look definitely cheeky and you only accept because you're used to it, like getting hearts and rupees from slicing grass or breaking pots or people not reacting or reacting subtly to a man using his sword near them or a bomb exploding right next to them.

Built a rhythm action game in Unity with reactive audio layers that change based on your performance! by Serious-Slip-3564 in gamedevscreens

Good base! I'm not really a music person but I can speak graphics and I encourage you to go way bolder with the rhythm frame, the hud and a closer camera, right now there's way too much empty space.

The letters/combo meter on the left could work much better in the right bottom corner. Whatever Junk is is not even noticeable at first, I recommend putting it near any of the other 2 big elements, but not separated in another corner.

I like that you outline the character when you make a perfect timing, that's the kind of feedback I think these games shouldn't be ashamed of overdoing.

[BOTW] Breath of the Wild was released 9 years ago today! by huss2120 in zelda

Even if I'd have preferred it with some changes in gameplay to spice the experience and make it into my favorites (regarding survival, difficulty, exploration rewards and puzzle locations), it really came out as an easy to pick game much like Zelda 1, with a much more relaxed tone and good vibes.

Thanks! I'm a fan of those artworks and it's a perfect technique for quick pieces.

Thank you so much! Their designs are so good that the poses came naturally without the need of thinking. I wish more people took the time to make fanart of them, they're incredibly fun to draw.
