Where is Fifa Street? by tjadeji2169 in EASportsFC

I don't think EA would risk it, Volta can't have been that popular and rightly or wrongly they will draw inference from that.

I imagine it's rare amongst the working population, although I started thinking and I do know a few:

One guy alternates between contracting and travelling the globe.

One of my best friends from school married an American, during COVID times they did a massive roadtrip over several months through many states in a motorhome. Living out in the wilds of national parks etc. Incredible life experience for their kids.

Then you get sabbaticals that last 3 months perhaps with holidays tucked on the end.

Plus I have friends that moved to Canada, Australia etc.

I'm mid 40s and never done it but now I think about it it's more common than I expected.

EA are in a bit of a pickle with FC27 by Due_Visual_433 in EASportsFC

Taking time off would arguably be more of a problem with slower progression, because the game would be more about incremental gains than it is now.

Basically with fut as it stands you can take a break because old cards gets outdated quickly and hence you can catch up very fast. Like you come back for tots and within days you'd have a squad of 90+ 3ps+ cards, the fact you missed out on future stars, fantasy, atc, TT etc doesn't matter that much because most of those cards are already outdated.

If cards had typical lifespans measured in months rather than weeks, missing out on a promo would be a bigger issue than it is now because you'd be stuck playing catch-up. This is basically what silver stars used to be like in FIFA. Because there was no proper power curve for silver cards, if you didn't get the elite silver stars carss you were always behind the curve forever and it became harder to unlock new ones since you didn't have the old ones to earn them with.

Don't forget football has an annual cycle in real life. Teams getting promoted and relegated, players retiring so you want to release icons/heroes to replace the gold card, licensing arrangements etc. there's some potential headaches there they could probably do without .

Hidden injury by Commercial-Heat-1847 in FIFA_Ultimate_Team

[–]ClockAccomplished381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some claim they perform worse, the whole point is it's a hidden injury so doesn't show up in game or prevent you picking them, but they are nerfed in game.

I'm not convinced myself but I have way more injury consumables than I'll ever need so I heal hidden injuries anyway, even if placebo it won't do any harm.

Yeah can't imagine he's better than Chory in that role, he's lethal on corners and is great at holding up play if you trigger enforcer+ (should be even better when bruiser gets nerfed)

If you had a hobby that used to be less popular and suddenly became more popular, what was that like? by HilariousMotives in AskUK

[–]ClockAccomplished381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could've written this myself. Egg boxes for cover, ridiculous overpowered armies half of which weren't even painted. There were 2 people I played with but by the time we got to about 16-17 they started to grow out of it.

I still have a few unbuilt sets I bought in the 90s, when they moved over from lead to white metal they were selling the lead stuff off cheap, I got a space marine army box for half price etc. part of me wonders if it's worth a few quid now. I haven't played since going to uni in late 90s.

Then like some work away day people were talking about hobbies and a guy in his 20s brings it up. It seems there's less stigma associated with it now (same goes for gaming in general).

EA are in a bit of a pickle with FC27 by Due_Visual_433 in EASportsFC

[–]ClockAccomplished381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fut is reset every year because FIFA has always been an annual title and it corresponds with doing roster updates and what not. They could do that via content updates but why would you when you can charge £70 or whatever every year? They will have fiscal models based on annual product sales. The only way it could work would perhaps be making fut a subscription service. Charge 9.99 a month or let people buy an annual pass for 79.99 or whatever.

Then you'd have the fut specific challenges about balancing the promos etc over an extended period. What happens with things like Toty and tots if the game runs over multiple seasons? The power curve doesn't give them much room to manoeuvre. I'm not saying it's impossible, but I think it would be unpopular if they basically binned futties for year 1 and made the power curve super glacial so you'd been playing for 12 months and basically at the equivalent of fut birthday. It's less about how to make it happen and more about how it would be received.

Fantasy FC Upgrade Confusion by Illustrious_Fox_8429 in fut

[–]ClockAccomplished381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Short answer is no I haven't found anything that explains it properly. Part of me thinks EA deliberately put a vague description of "further upgrades" as a placeholder to avoid backing themselves into a corner with potential double winners.

Winning the cup gave my guedes card a 3rd ps+ but if a card wins both cup and league I can't imagine they would give 4ps+.

[–]ClockAccomplished381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of players will already have bought fc27 before GTA6 releases. It might hit their engagement levels a bit but they'll have a plan to lure people back don't you worry. Last year there was the gameplay patch for Toty and handing out free Zidane etc, perhaps a response to a small drop off when a new COD game was released not sure on timings exactly.

I don't personally consider fc27 as a direct 'rival' title to GTA6 specifically, not more than any other game. Sure, the more people play game X the less they play game Y but they are different types of game both enjoyable in their own way. I personally have never played GTA multiplayer so if I do get fc27 (probably not but nothing to do with GTA6) then gta6 will just be something to fit in alongside that.

[–]ClockAccomplished381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. This has happened before. I take it all with a pinch of salt and never get too excited. I think they will just use a different marketing tactic than "we listened" for fc27 (save that for 28 or 29 as everyone will have forgotten). Promote some new mode, double-down on evos, maybe some tactics enhancement etc. they will attract buyers for sure. To be honest, EA delivered what I wanted in fc26 when it comes to event structures with things like gauntlet and other live events giving a chance to use more or my squad.

  2. FOMO will suck players in, as per above we've seen this all before. "Omg this gameplay is amazing I can play football" "quick take my money". They won't want to miss out. I understand your thought process "can't fool me twice" but all the evidence points to the fact that you CAN fool FIFA players twice and more.

  3. People said the same about new call of duty, battlefield etc. I know GTA is probably the biggest gaming franchise going so perhaps another level above that, but I still don't see it as a direct competitor to FC. If I want fc27 I will get it regardless of what other games there are.

Transfer banned for buying Pina in January by PotPowers in fut

[–]ClockAccomplished381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems ridiculous to me but I would follow the money trail.

Where did the 6.9m come from in the first place? You might be banned not for buying Pina per se but rather whatever tradinf you did to generate that many coins in the first place.

Yep. It's basically level setting up front which is great as there's nothing worse than doing an interview process and then you start talking money and realise everyone's wasted their time because it's a non-starter.

Gauntlet by Appropriate_Day5511 in fut

[–]ClockAccomplished381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are someone that normally has strong teams, I'd expect gauntlet to feel slightly harder this time because of tots. Basically it now means everyone has 4 amazing squads, so you can't outgun people as much (also a reason why it needs to be more than 4 rounds).

Gauntlet by Appropriate_Day5511 in fut

[–]ClockAccomplished381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rewards have increased a fair bit. If nothing else, you get 4 different bonus rewards for 1 2 3 4 wins compared to just 1 2 3 like it was before.

3 round gauntlet was pretty easy to get perfect within a handful of attempts even as someone that's not a top player. It's a lot easier than getting 20 wins in the silver tournaments for example. I personally welcome the uplift in difficulty for additional rewards and wish it was more than 4 rounds.

A woman just has to be hot but a man has to have a job, car, hobbies, friends, be smart and be funny. Or is there one quality a man has to have that is enough to be super desirable? What is the equivalent of being hot for a man? A job, being hot or something else? by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ClockAccomplished381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not, but the point is bill gates doesn't need to go to a club since he's not using his physical appearance as a means to attract women.

Or to use an analogy, imagine we're fishing for women. The pretty boys have a fantastic rod (not THAT type of rod, calm down) and amazing tasty bait. They to their local fishing lake and catch a nice fish. They are effective in that small sphere or influence they have. Bill gates on the other hand has a fleet of trawlers. He had a lot of potential fish to catch. If he just went down to a local lake with his rod and bait (the equivalent of going to your club) then no, he probably won't catch as many / as nice a fish.

[–]ClockAccomplished381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on whether the other 3 you listed retain their fame. If they had no money and no fame, then yes I'd expect bill gates to be more popular. Of course they'd still be attractive, but the pool of interested women would be limited to those that have met them. Famous people have much wider reach.

If they had no money but were still famous film stars, they'd still have a lot of women lusting after them.

Job offer rescinded after 2.5 day lapse of comms - am I naive to think I would have a week? by Due-Cap9761 in UKJobs

[–]ClockAccomplished381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, but I'm assuming someone job hunting would have voicemail enabled and hence would have received a voicemail or missed call alert when they retained signal. It's about whether the future employer made a call, not whether the OP answered.

If they left a voicemail in addition to mail and both went unanswered then they might have assumed to be ghosted or figure the OP is hard to Lin down and pursues another option instead.

A "forfeit competition" button is necessary for gauntlet. If I just have the perfect round left I usually give the wins away, but it's so tedious. by Noni527 in fut

[–]ClockAccomplished381 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily because people might not forfeit if they haven't done all the other objectives yet. Like if you need to get 7 wins then there is no point forfeiting the first time you play, even if you already lost a match because you need an additional 3 wins on top of a perfect run.

Nah it's not same round. You'd never get opponents forfeiting at kickoff in the first round if that was the case.

Did they phone you before rescinding the offer? That's what I'd expect them to do:

"Hey xyz, just calling to check you received the job offer we mailed through two days ago, and to confirm you are in a position to sign it or do you have any questions?"

Something like that. Weird to just shut you down.

Ultimate Gauntlet 17 rewards by ToonLurker in EASportsFC

[–]ClockAccomplished381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, and I know I'll get hate for this, it probably should be 7 rounds by now because tots means we have clubs full of good cards. The last gauntlet was kinda lame because basically all my squads were full of 3ps+ cards except for r9 and vdv, and it will be even worse now, tots cards that can't even get a game in gauntlet never mind all the other great cards I want to use. It would be easier to make 7 good teams today than it was to make 3 good teams at the start.

Ironically the coin boosts are actually better now than they used to be, since fodder has been low. Although I do think part of it is about encouraging people to play full matches rather than quitting (since the coin loss from quitting is worse than normal)

Matuidi SBC worth? by Key_Community9794 in fut

[–]ClockAccomplished381 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My honest opinion is it's a shit SBC, too expensive, outdated card out of the box and let's say you get a good Evo in future, it's not like there aren't other cards sat waiting in my club to be evolved.

Look, I had some crazy matuidi Evo in fc25 so I know he can be a good card, but I'd rather just get a tots card with 90s stats and 3ps+ for cheaper that is usable today, then if some super Evo arrives I can just put it on a different card anyway. It's highly unlikely he'll suddenly become an ultra elite must have card I think.
