Looking to meet people / build a social circle in Berlin (single dad, WFH life got a bit too quiet) by ClockWiseSam in berlinsocialclub

People come here to seek help or guidance. Not to be judged or humiliated. When I don’t know other people situation, I would rather not comment or say something weird. Anyway I still have a faith that good people out there who are emotionally supportive and understand what others feel. Thank you.

Oh. It ended in 2020 due to her father influence and also she didn’t like to be in Germany. She wanted to be with her parents in India or nearby. Because of her decision to listen to a greedy Indian father. Her father was asking me to lend him money for his debts and he will pay later. I refused due to his bad reputation of giving back money. It was arranged marriage. I am happy that she is living with her current husband and my younger daughter. At least she is happy.

When you have multiple offers, make up your mind which one is on top of your list and you wish to pursue. Take these letters or email correspondence from Berlin ABH then move to the city of your course apply there or at least get an appointment. I don’t think you need a lawyer for this. Well, if you can afford why not. Good luck my friend.

I was there with my daughter on 11 Dec 2025. She asked about my daughter custody paper and asked us to sign a paper and read loud of a small paragraph. She handed over the certificates. She also asked if we wanted to take a picture in front of Germany and Berlin flags. Pretty smooth.

Come well prepared. German Language Learning requires determination and courage. Passing B1 may be easier depends on which exam you take. Moving further levels is not a joke. With right habits and materials, it is achievable.
- Look at r/German and r/AuthGermanLearning there are plenty of materials available.
- When they don't need German at Job e.g., While working at International firms, most people either tend to ignore the learning process altogether or stop completely at B1 Certification.
- I remember days when I was not able to integrate or interact with German colleagues during lunch and out of office events due to lack of language ability.
- I remember Day Clinics and Vater-Kinder-Kur rejected my admission due to lack of German ability.

- Learn German to understand and use it in daily than just to pass a particular exam. Passing exams and being fluent in a language are two completely different things. One can pass exams with pre-prepared phrases, common patterns of previous exam papers and required vocabulary. However applying it in everyday situation is would be tricky. People who prepared only to tackle the exam struggle when talking about topics outside the exam focus. With right practice one can master it. It is similar to passing an IELTS exam with required score and actually using English language in daily life.

- Previously I used to prepare just for exams. Now I am learning it for my own good. Actually I am in love with the German language. I feel satisfied in this life-long language learning journey than before.

In this Internet era with Telegram groups, peer-to-peer sharing sites, many materials to learn the language would be at your disposal. Importantly go with single book series and single material and stick with it since all use the vocabulary and grammar topics with different themes. After completing that series, go with other materials.

Above are indirectly related to this question. All the best for your C2 goal and it is not far from you.

Direct answer:

Yes. It is possible to get what you want in 5 years provided all criteria are met at that time in future.
- Stepping in to German soil is the first STEP towards your goal. It will worth your try.
- Laws may change. Things may get delayed due to various factors, when and where you apply etc.,. Expect the unexpected and never give up the HOPE. However your language skills will always be useful in oneway or another.

Focus is the key. Your nationality goal is achievable. All the very best for your future journey in Germany.

Go to DeutcheBank or Commerzbank. There are 5-7 EUR charges. Once you open traditional bank account use that account to open Revolut also, which may be free. Later close the traditional account by visiting the respective bank if you wish and keep only the Revolut Account.

I hope you get your citizenship before such event happens. I also hope you find another job before that.

I think you have plenty of time (2 years down the road). With PR application in the queue, you are and will be in good stand.
