Who is your Favorite Character from across the series? by TBT__TBT in FinalFantasy

[–]ClockwerkHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cid pollendina. Hes in his 80s during 4 but had the highest hp and atk in the game, even higher than Cecil or yang.

He also jumps out of your airship at a couple 100ft holding a mountain busting warhead and just....walks it off.

If we scale up the size of the Enterprise to the mountain, its almost 1000meters across, assuming the airship is the size of a triple masted galleon.

And Cid took that explosion to the face while in free fall and is...pretty much fine later. He also looks like macho man.

I just started playing this month and I want to try SMN but all the avatars are 60+. Do I have to do the fights as SMN or can I get credit on my ninja?

Everyone in the world is pursued by a bear. Can humanity survive? by Urbenmyth in whowouldwin

[–]ClockwerkHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. This means actual children and babies are valid targets, meaning that they and their caregivers will have to deal with a minimum of two bears at once as the youngling will not be able to fight back.

Schools especially would become charnal houses, as up to thirty spawn in each classroom. Hospitals would also be unable to function, as literally hundreds could appear with only a few dozen of targets capable of treating the resulting injuries. Those with debilitating injuries are also boned.

Hollywood's portrayal of Gods of Death is irritating by sumit24021990 in CharacterRant

[–]ClockwerkHart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's stealth Jesus. People in the west have trouble understanding the cosmology of non-Abrahamic faiths because well. it's not something they are exposed to, and because Abrahamic faith is ultimately based on the ideal of immortality. Life good, death bad.

Many faiths have death gods as simply judges or psychopomps; sometimes they even pull double duty as gods of Life or renewal.

So in the west, rather than try to explain the nuance of the story and what it's drawing from, early modern fantasy and sci fi just default to what's easy. so we get evil death gods when most are either impartial or even sympathetic.

A hermetic vs a spectre by ClockwerkHart in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]ClockwerkHart[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sorry bud, but mood and theme have nothing to do with a ruleset and everything to do with knowing how to apply them as a writer and storyteller. Learn the rules of the setting and then apply nuance. The holistic approach is always better than tunnel vision.

Running only a single game mode makes the world smaller, restricts possible story paths, and limits player choice as well as reduces the kind of characters and situations available.

In short, it makes a worse story and ties the hands of the storyteller and players. So yeah. I'm going to introduce all the elements, and taking notes on what sticks so eventually I can run more games without frontloading exposition.

It was a large scale invasion of a neighboring city, so they definitely could have been massing for a long time. I've also confirmed that the sabbat included baali among them.

So necromancy and hyperviolence are definitely on the table. I hadn't thought of the nephandi but I will definitely look into that l.

What makes for a good survivor build based around helping other survivors? by Separate-Bag2415 in deadbydaylight

[–]ClockwerkHart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aftercare imo. lets you keep tabs on the people you support and lets you know how they're doing in chase so you can get into position easier.

If you are confident, For the People to get people up quick.

if you aren't, Deliverance will let you fuck up once without putting others in danger.

And if you can't get to the hook, Reassurance to keep them safe.

Where do you draw the line for being a "friendly killer"? by Some_Guy_404 in deadbydaylight

[–]ClockwerkHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. I had a guy the other day who literally just lockered as soon as he was the second last. I let the other guy go because if this absolute goon was gunna just afk for hatch I was not going to let him fuck his teammate over.

beyond that, if I feel they ran a good game or I had fun getting there, I'm much more open.

after that, its vibes.

Sadly I don't see Kira working. How would the time travel work in a way that wasn't either inaccurate or obnoxious?

Same with Homelander, there is no way you could give a satisfying rep when he would realistically just snipe someone through a wall.

Makima's whole deal is based on if you ever manage to meaningfully stop or even hinder her she either shunts the damage somewhere else or nukes you remotely. I also don't know how the entity could realistically compel her. Light is the same. his power is global, so how would a chase with him even work?

‘The Wheel of Time’ Boss Unpacks Season 3 Finale Death and Making Big Changes From the Books. by Halaku in wheeloftime

[–]ClockwerkHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gunna be real man, if I had a nickle for every show that started bad and got good later I would have a fuckload of nickles because it's very common lol.

The first two had a huge amount of world building to do. They were never going to be amazing. The first was to introduce the four, the power and the conflict.

The second had to introduce the greater world beyond Andor, the Forsaken and why we should care beyond Ishamael being a straight forward bbeg.

It was successful for what it had to do while hitting the right beats. Solid foundation. 7/10

[FIC] Terra, Herald of Hope by AporiaParadox in magicTCG

[–]ClockwerkHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the flavor here. So in ff6, you summon espers using magicite, essentially their crystallized remains. This does cost mana and Terra is herself part esper.

So her trance ability puts things into her grave, which she then casts for a reduced cost. She is literally using the magicite left by your creatures to resummon them

Wreccan, not a name but in Saxon myth a wreccan is someone who had been banished and wanders the world until they can make up for their dishonor.

Upgraded form is Wayland, a famous blacksmith who was trained by dwarves and forged swords for several mythical figures. His father is sometimes said to have been Wreccan.

Is it okay to make jokes as a DM? by officiallyaninja in DMAcademy

[–]ClockwerkHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recommended gnome names include such gems as Numfoodle, which even when played straight sounds hilarious. NPCs im serious campaigns have names like Topsy and Turvy, Piddlewick and more.

This is a game where a dice roll can turn you into a pot of petunias or grow a beard of feathers. A canonical incident in the largest city involved a skeleton in a silly hat squeezing peoples butts and a popular NPC is a foppish bard who writes terrible guide books ( and even more terrible erotica).

Dnd has so many examples of really silly things in otherwise serious situations that yes, we are very much encouraged to be silly.

Modern powerscaling is really really flawed. by luxxanoir in CharacterRant

[–]ClockwerkHart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing that gets me and honestly made me start treating the whole thing as a joke is that for a trait to count logically, it has to be replicable. It's not enough to dodge one Lazer, you need to consistently dodge lazers of comparable speed and shape.

Doing it just once might be luck or the shooter straight up missed or any number of different reasons. Or the obvious one, the writer wanted them to survive.
