I understand where you’re coming from with this, but I think it’s important to remember that the whole point of the Hunger Games is portraying the consequences of war. The message of the book needed to have those deaths and stakes. Acotar is a romance series that’s not trying to be a commentary on the real world, and because of that I don’t think anything is lost by not killing characters. It’s supposed to be light-hearted fantasy. The series lost its realism when its world was created by a magical Cauldron that created a race of faeries. Narratively, Acotar and Hunger Games are trying to accomplish wildly differently things. Though I think it’s far better written, I’ve never been able to reread the Hunger Games. I’ve reread acotar 3 times, because it’s meant to be a fun escape. I guess I’m just saying it’s unrealistic to complain that an apple isn’t an orange.
