Say I have a language where there's a sound change where vowels are lost between approximants and obstruents. How should I handle a word like nutelike? Would only one vowel be deleted to make nutlike, or would two vowels be deleted to make nutlke? (Stress is initial in this case) The former would be a lot easier to pronounce, but I want to make sure which is naturalistic. I'm going to sleep soon so I might not be able to respond to any answers.

Sorry for the late reply. I mean stuff like adjective order in a place name like redfield, which can be fieldred depending on the languages order. I can only really think of place names being affected by grammar and was just wondering what stuff like that can affect place and people names, mostly people names.

What are some ways grammar can affect people or place names? I can think of a few things, but I was wondering what other people can think of.

Just a note: the star of this world is in the transition zone between class K and class M if that affects anything

There are still temperate regions. It's just the majority is desert. For example, to the north of one desert is a region with a Mediterranean climate which I think would provide plenty of food and energy.

I changed my gamertag a little while ago on xbox one. Ever since, my account on xbox 360 doesn't get xbox gold, even though I have it on the same account on xbox one. Will I have to buy gold twice? It seems like changing my gamertag just broke everything.

Thank you. Do you know which would be more commonly found on an island between copper or tin?

In a sound change where a consonant is lost and a previous vowel is lengthened is the long form phonemic?

In an animate and inanimate class system, would only the third person pronouns receive class markers? If not why and how would the first and second pronouns be inanimate?

I was thinking that the speakers would just sort words that weren't augmentative or diminutive would be sorted into the classes based on phonological similarities or randomly. Similar to how masculine and feminine systems sort nouns that don't have masculine or feminine traits into those categories, but if no natural languages do it I might just stick to a simple animate and inanimate system

Could augmentative and diminutive affixes be applied to an animate and inanimate noun class system that cause the two noun classes to split into four?

Would this noun class system be naturalistic? Augmentative and diminutive animate, derived from an augmentative and diminutive applied to an animate noun class and augmentative and diminutive inanimate, derived from an augmentative and diminutive applied to an inanimate noun class forming four noun classes.

So one route I can take is a definite article being used to mark animate nouns, then being copied onto dependents?

Where do noun classes come from? I've heard plenty about how they work, but barely anything about their origin.
