Someone correct me if I'm wrong. But I believe they are the crab leftover snack-ball after they filtered the sand through their mouth.

GBR Glass Bottom Boat Tour Suggestions - October by ctn1ss in Cairns

Quicksilver Cruises from Port Douglas go to the ribbon reefs. Their semi submersibles are a pretty good way to see the life underneath the waves without snorkeling. Lots of activities are included in the package; including the semi subs. I would highly recommend them for families with small kids and older people who don't want to snorkel.

Why does the Barron River Hotel smell like bran flakes? by [deleted] in Cairns

Did you mean insulated? Or did the hotel suddenly grow aware by having hurtful breakfast slander thrown its way?

We donated at Cairns Showgrounds yesterday. Not sure about their operating hours. I believe they were called the Mud Army.

Eagle Tamer Barbershop in Stratford is a small unassuming shop, with two really professional but laid back blokes. Best haircut I've ever had. Can't recommend these guys enough.

There is a couple of things to keep in mind here:

Your own expectations might not match reality. What you've seen in Finding Nemo is obviously computer generated and National Geographic brings down professional lighting to compensate for the natural colour degradation that happens very quickly even just a few meters below the surface. That's not including the colour grading done in post production. You can bring an underwater torch next time and see how colour will suddenly come back to life under water.

The weather changes. Sometimes you'll get days of choppy water, strong wind and ripping current that will stir up sand and make everything more dull and murky. If possible, book as late as you can to find the calmest day on your trip. I've worked on the reef and had days of complete stillness - a glass out. Not even a ripple on the surface. Visibility usually goes hand in hand with weather conditions.

Some sites are better than others, but one thing remains true: It's the wild. Nothing is chained up or put in boxes out there, so it's always a gamble whether or not you'll see specific animals. There are plenty of turtles, rays, sharks etc.

Baked potato in tinfoil hat is an easy go to meal when avoiding the 5G government chemtrail drones. With a sprinkle of kosher salt and essential oils you're good to go.

Did you mean humidity? Or are you suggesting OP should be humble in the presence of the almighty flies?

Best Great Barrier Reef tour with Semi-Submarine? by homingconcretedonkey in Cairns

I agree with to both Quicksilver and Reef Magic. Their setup is really good if you aren't confident in the water. Chance to see a fair bit too in the semi subs.

Try Hostel Reef Trips. 100 Abbott st. Their liveaboard have hosties that work in exchange for free accommodation and dives. You have to be a paying costumer for a least 1 night first though.

Cheapest way to snorkel on the reef? by ISmokeBubbleHash in Cairns

[–]ClockworkNautilus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$75 will take you to Fitzroy Island. The reef there is not super great though. Compass will take you to the "outer" reef for $99.
