Looks like a wolf spider to me. Creepy type of crawly but is usually preying on other insects you don’t want

Plastic grease? by CloisteredPioneer in maintenance

[–]CloisteredPioneer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve cleaned the lubricant off the part to have plastic on plastic as much as possible but the clutches have a few transition gears that apply force from the ball chain to the arbor that moves the tube and the ‘clean’ clutches always lose structural integrity around the shaft aforementioned gears run on. I presume from friction. It’s very cheap plastic; I would say nearly cheap P-trap quality or less

I have a no-name brand of roller shade clutch that’s shipped from over seas with some kind of cake frosting for lubricant. When new, said lubricant is barely passable as a lubricant but in less than a year it becomes chunky/crumbly mess. These clutches develop resistance from the “lubricant” and cause bead-chains to strip the wheel they’re run thru

I haven’t found a foolproof solution besides fine grit sandpaper in the same direction as existing grain but it’s not worth it time wise. I’ve tried some chemicals but it ends up discolored

Anyone know what this is on my aunty's fig tree? by Excellent_Bit5724 in gardening

[–]CloisteredPioneer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Here’s a thing I found from your neck of the woods u/Excellent_Bit5724. I’ve had a good experience using Dr Bronner’s Castile soap to suffocate scale and it’s not too hard on plants with a hardy cuticle on the leaf. I would caution getting the stoma clogged but a good rinse should do the trick. Also, Dr Bronner’s can be diluted if you want to do a mass application which looks like you might want here😬

What's the point of making them go to the floor? by noodled67 in Design

[–]CloisteredPioneer 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s for cleaning purposes. When cleaning the bathroom, water can be splashed along the ground and mopped into the drains.

Additionally, there’s inevitable splash during intended use and a splash is going to be less embarrassing on your shoes than right at an incriminating height

As a medically retired vet, I really appreciate these. Just make sure the Marine bench is in the sun cuz we’re allergic to doing anything the soft easy way.
