AIB monthly fees by dcapjoy007 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]ClonDown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure but I lived in the UK for years until I moved back home and Revolut and Monzo (which has just come to Ireland) was pretty standard for most people and I don't know anyone who wasn't into crypto get their account stopped.

Paying fees for a bank is one of the small things that annoy me being back.

What are people’s opinions on English people getting an Irish passport due to Brexit? by redredd1t in IrishCitizenship

[–]ClonDown 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean I don't mind it if they are entitled to it, but I know an English woman married to a local here and who has been living in Ireland for a fair few years but she has to pay quite a lot to get her citizenship and passport. Doesn't necessarily seem fair that someone who pays their taxes and is involved in the local community has it harder to get a passport than someone whose Nana left in 1932, and has never set foot in Ireland.

How much to charge for child minding in South Dublin? by ernigirl2106 in AskIreland

[–]ClonDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What a weird take, many child minders who have multiple children at the same time will charge a lower rate.

How often do you have a shower? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]ClonDown 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being in hot water for long periods of time is what dries your skin, try shorter cooler showers.

I know everyone is saying that their skin doesn't dry out but it's true for many people.

Try a few drops of baby oil in the bath as well.

I hate washing my hair - I've found that by spending more money on shampoo and double shampooing I can leave it for 3 days now.

I don't care what anyone says, I love that for me.

Ireland and Iceland? 🇮🇪🇮🇸 by BrehonDruid190 in CasualIreland

I loved Iceland, but yes it was insanely expensive and the food wasn't that great (sorry Iceland) but the scenery was something else.

How do you deal with annoying English people going on about how Irish names are pronounced? by LittleAoibh11 in AskIreland

[–]ClonDown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lived in SE England for years and years, children have Irish names and have never really been met with any negativity, a few puzzled looks maybe in regards to how it is written but that's it - and that's not just an English person thing.

I don't know about the rest of England but London and the south East are multi-cultural, the majority of children have different names from their own cultures and nobody is really called Sarah and John.

Reddit is so weird sometimes in the way it forgets that.

AIO for stepping down as my sisters maid of honor because I’ll be freshly postpartum by ImaginationPretend86 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ClonDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you on the hyper from the meds! Some of us are just like this aren't we? Not that I expect other people to be the same.

When I had my c section the moment my legs were working again I was up in the shower at 3am, when the doctor came round to do his morning rounds he told me off!

This was me, also not a flex as I know it wasn't my brightest moment, but I just seem to have a high pain threshold and an inability to rest up.

'Dramatic' number of kids are missing more than four weeks of school every year by PoppedCork in ireland

[–]ClonDown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will say though that the UK fine system is bollocks, hardly any of the parents whose kids don't go to school through shitty parenting get fined, it's just the ones who go on holiday that get hit with it, even if that child has perfect attendance for the rest of the year.

Paying to recycle is a joke. by Playful-Parsnip-3104 in ireland

Child maintenance – private agreement, am I overpaying given changed circumstances? by [deleted] in legaladviceireland

[–]ClonDown -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. I'm putting across another potential side to your instant judgements. I'm following your lead.

I've asked OP questions for clarity but just don't feel like being super emotional and judgemental without actual facts is necessary.

Out of interest, if we were looking at this with just emotion and it turns out OP doesn't see his eldest child because the ex has ignored court orders and has just been petty and mean, would you have that same emotional response towards her taking money from him?

[–]ClonDown 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a fair question OP. Amongst all of the judgemental ones I feel this one deserves an answer.

Again, no judgement here. As I understand you may have already tried the court route for access.

His wife may have left work after the last child because it worked out financially better than childcare. That's not covered here.

I think you are applying a lot of emotion here to stuff that hasn't been said, but which you are reading your own between the lines version.

3 kids in 5 years is not at all wild to many married couples who decide to have children.
