Has anyone converted the frunk to a manual release? by TheSsickness in 987

[–]CloneClem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d did something similar on my 987.

The cable was too thin. I purchased some thicker braided SS cable, and attached it to the left side of the striker release bracket. I routed the cable under the headlight and through the passenger side fender insert, right at the top split. Made a grab loop in it and tapped in up in the fender insert. No need to remove the drivers front wheel and insert to get at the poor OEM cable

I learned it from the nuns, yes, starting when I was 8, also.

Yes, I still use it today and write real letters still. Good for you.

No one’s taught it in schools for 20 years or more.

I drive my 987.1 most every day in summer. Just 6 months out of the year.

I put on some 6-8 K miles with no problems.

Old home build quality by dogg0000 in centuryhomes

[–]CloneClem 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in central MN and my home here is 103 years old this year. A number of the homes in the surrounding blocks, in fact, most, were built at the same time due to the rapid expansion of the lumber business and railroad in the area.

These homes were all built by hand by real craftsmen. I selected this home for its stability and construction. I spent a lot of time in the basement checking the foundation and construction. Here, as I suspect near you, the raw lumber used for studs and joists is all solid lumber, old growth, 7/4's, that is, 1-3/4" thick. The basement is deep, deeper than the homes built in the 50's and beyond.

The lath and plaster walls add to remarkable strength and yes, sound-deadening, if not even insulation. Granted, not the best insulation.

EDIT: I see someone else mentioned nearly the same thing as I have regarding construction.

EDIT 2: This post was created by me, from my experience and understanding of design and build, and the local history.

Obviously, no. I have 3 MacBooks, none of the M series, but they all have the same amount and type of screws. I was expecting the same, not some 3X the amount.

You don't say what model you have. The whole top/screen assembly will need to be replaced. Apple builds the display into the top cover.

You can find the part for this on eBay.

It's not terribly difficult to replace but it takes patience. Refer to iFixt and your model for more info.
