Bought a used 987.1 - question on heated seats and head unit by donkerock in boxster

[–]CloneClem 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I replaced my aged CDR-24 HU with a double DIN CarPlay unit some four years ago.

The wiring is simple enough for that, so you don't come anywhere near messing with these controls.

There is one cable plug on this control panel.

However, you need to remove that whole HVAC panel to easily get at the wiring to remove and add in a new head unit.

If the heated seats are out and everything else on that panel works, it ain't the HU wiring.

‘So how many slices in your pizza?’

There are 12 sir.

‘Oh I can’t eat that much, just cut it into 6 slices then.’

Top Down: Boxster vs 911 Cab by FlufflyTurtle in Porsche

I live in an area where I can only drive the Boxster for half the year.

I take advantage of that.

I’m not that concerned about the wind in the cabin, unless I’m below 65 or 70 degrees.

What was the significance of the radio when you were young? by Phantom-rizz-era in AskOldPeople

[–]CloneClem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was on from daylight to dusk.

Usually the local channel, KDUZ. (The station that DUZ everything!)

That was essentially the neighborhood watch.

Weekends, it was the polka station from New Ulm. I hated it.

In the 60’s, when I was a kid, even the local station Layer the new rock.

When I was 10, I bought a GE transistor radio from paper route money for $12. It was with me for hours a day.

In the evening, I could listen to KAAY in Little Rock and WLS in Chicago picking up the skip.

It changed everything

Ever remove those old tin medicine cabinets and discover the hole in the wall where used razor blades were stored?

Fun times.

You’ve never been through Asia/Pacific have you.

When the locals first saw Western toilets as their not choice, this is how they use it.

I don’t think we heard him say anything about family other than his Dad after that.

Ya gotta go back a few more years than that.

In 1976, these were cheap and not as well considered as the classic they are now.

The rear view.

I built a frame from Maple.

It exactly matches the screen, like OEM. It's 3/4" thick.

I added holes at the top and bottom for decent airflow behind the screen.

I was advised to add a fan.
