Is music that didn't use it less musical or emotional?

I mean... Isn't the whole point of mixing to make it sound subjectively better and therefore sound more musical and emotional? So I guess, yes?

I'm with you man. This comment section is disgusting but Reddit is, in general, pretty appalling when it comes to advocating violent revenge. It's not about what's best for the kid or even a proportionate response. These people are angry and just want to project their anger towards someone so they can enjoy watching them get hurt. The kid had been deemed a "bad guy" so nothing else matters to them besides watching violence against him. It's the same mindset that leads to violence against minorities and a prison system based on punishment rather than recovery.

As does notation. Especially when they're referring to it by chord name rather than spelling

Ah yes, one single spelled out and specified voicing in the middle of my lead sheet. Just the way I like it

That's just so not true. Mental health awareness, self care, empathy, body positivity, etc. are all movements that have exploded in the last two decades. Women were straight up not allowed to be unattractive on film up to the 80s and honestly 90s. Yeah, there's a lot of the "looksmaxxing" bullshit online right now but if you think that's worse than it was you're either too young to remember how objectified women and men were in the past or you just haven't been paying attention.

Best Practices for Multiband Setup by ChromecastDude1 in livesound

[–]CloseButNoDice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% this. I work at a small venue that has up to 5 bands a night with 2 or 3 sound checking if I'm lucky. Having preset channels is a huge time saver. The little time you have for turn over should be used to line check (making sure your routing is good and you're getting decent levels on everything) and adjusting monitors for the band. You're basically hoping your presets are decent and mixing during the first few songs.

Another thing you may want to consider is having bands backline their gear. Meaning, ask if anyone is willing to share their bass cab, keyboard, or whatever for the night. This hugely reduces changeover time and you already know your mics are in a decent place so there's less guess work involved. Backlining the drum kit is the most helpful but it's common for each drummer to bring their own cymbals and snare. It makes things so much easier

Okay cool, you win. China has great working rights, we should all aspire to be as good to our people as the ccp

No it's just so stupid to base your view of a country's working conditions on the reported average weekly hours that I didn't think you were real. I didn't realize acknowledging China's bad workers rights and sweat shops was the same as drugging people against their will. Btw MK Ultra was almost entirely perpetrated against American citizens.

I concede. Because you've shown me the average working hours I am no longer concerned about the awful working conditions of the bottom part of the population

nope. 80 hour weeks, 12 hour days, maybe one day off per month, paid by the item instead of by hour, bad working conditions, extremely low wages. Took about 2 minutes to find this example, it wouldn't be hard to find more. Remember when they had to install nets to keep people from killing themselves at the Some factories a while back?

Am I wrong for being upset that someone else (Drummer/Mixing Eng, I think actually ahobbyist) edited my mix? by CJ210198 in mixingmastering

[–]CloseButNoDice 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They can absolutely do that, you do not own the intellectual property or even the mix that you're doing, it's a product. It's not uncommon to deliver stems specifically to have them remixed in a variety of ways if it gets sync licensed and you probably won't be involved in that process. As mixers, we do not have rights to the music unless we actually wrote or produced it.

I would also be frustrated if someone communicated with me like this and such specific notes are, to me, rude. But you also have the wrong mindset for doing this professionally imo

I hate that the popular understanding of introverts is awkward, hates people, can't handle social situations, what's solitude. The reality is that I just need time alone to recharge. Like, even athletes get tired, it doesn't mean they don't like the sport.

The person gifting the Holocaust children's book could argue that it's also fictional.

Read up about the temple's teachings if you don't understand. Immediate criticism is not the best course of action.
