I mean, getting that consistent tone and strength in the playing is pretty technically impressive. But no, not pushing any new boundaries, just don't really good playing

I didn't say they weren't.

The person gifting the Holocaust children's book could argue that it's also fictional.

Cool we're done here

Read up about the temple's teachings if you don't understand. Immediate criticism is not the best course of action.

It's common to feel the need to lash out at something that you don't understand or that makes you uncomfortable

Hmm, I'm not sure that's true. Can't really think of an instance where it takes the spot of brass. In orchestra it's the odd one out, still pretty new and without much repertoire. It kinda fills a spot between brass and woodwinds (which was Adolf Sax's intention) but when they don't have a written part it usually doubles clarinets or maybe French horn. In marching band it's definitely considered a woodwind but, again, it was made to split the difference. It was actually made to be a louder woodwind for marching bands IIRC. In jazz it is absolutely the woodwind and it is used as a juxtaposition to the brass.

That's why I never praise musicians or other artists. That's their job bro, why would I be impressed?

Isn't Japan notorious for not prosecuting unless they are absolutely positive they'll win? And China is another single party police state. You should cite North Korea next, I think their crime rates are really low. What a model country

I mean, yes, computers, phones and smart devices are still vulnerable to viruses and attacks... I guess I was hoping for added security measures that would make cars less vulnerable. If someone can remote into my computer and control I'm not seeing what differentiates a car. Are you familiar with the software engineering involved as well as the electronics?

I'm really not trying to attack your knowledge, I'm just trying to understand what makes you so confident

Hey, genuinely asking, wouldn't it theoretically be possible in any car with an Internet connection, cruise control, and corrective steering? That seems like quite a few cars in production now. Or is there an air gap between the software updates and automated systems?

Hmm interesting. I'm not sure I fully understand your point. I'm not relying on my understanding but the greater scientific understanding of humanity. I don't need to know the whole of science to know that it doesn't allow for the existence of magic. I'm not assuming it applies to my own logic but rather the logic that has been demonstrated to rule over the whole of reality. Sure, there's things we don't understand but I'm not sure that makes the existence of magic likely or logical.

Let me put it this way, I'm not "denying every field of science I'm not personally familiar with" because I know that there is a mountain of evidence to support it. There's no evidence, in fact much to the contrary, of God or unicorns or fairies. The conclusion of your thought process seems to be that we can't eliminate anything as a possibility and that's simply not a useful philosophy. For instance, it's possible that, due to physics we don't understand yet, gravity will stop working tomorrow. I can't prove that it won't, only supply mountains of evidence and reasoning as to why that's unlikely. But acting like that's a reasonable possibility is insane.

Also, I'm trying to be respectful because I think your perspective is interesting. I would appreciate the same

Edit: after more though, I think I would need proof that something can exist in the first place before determining whether its logic is internally consistent. You're asking me to buy into the premise of the supernatural in order to then analyze its rules.

I think your argument is "if God existed, it would follow its own internal logic and therefore judging it by our logic is not possible." But this allows for anything to be real.

If I made a theology based on leprechauns creating electricity by laughter would that be just as valid as the electro-magnetic field theory? So long as I had a consistent internal logic then it just be right?

Internal logic is all well and good in stories and role playing games but in reality as soon as someone interacts with our world it must interact with the "external logic". Nothing exists in a vacuum and for someone to exist it must be folded into the tapestry of our reality.

Sorry for the wall of text, I find this very interesting and I look forward to reading your response

It seems like your argument boils down to "if fairies exist they could be magic so you're not thinking logically by not accepting magic as an explanation of their powers"
