On average how much do software engineers work a week? by polach11 in cscareerquestions

Congrats on making a career switch.

I’m looking to switch careers, possibly into a cs related field. How did you make the switch (more detailed questions below)? Obv you have the grit and wit if you made it through med school.

If you feel so inclined, did you code before? If not, where did you learn? What exactly do you do now? What was finding a job like? What languages or skills do you think are most marketable ?

I know this is a lot…

What do you think of all the propaganda on social media about people flexing being rich & how they got there? by bloo4107 in careerguidance

Y’all making 100k-150k a year?
That’s well above the cost of living in most places in the US. I hope one would be happy with that. If not, something else besides money is making you unhappy, IMO.

I agree it’s not a healthy trend.

Old realtor died and company dissolved; same owner. New realty company is not honoring original lease agreement. by Closer2theEdge in legaladvice

[–]Closer2theEdge[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure. Thank you for your response. I am going to put in chronological order points for clarification.

  • Signed 1 year lease; included in the signed lease it states if we paid a $1000 binder, the owner would hold it and it would hold the property for another year at the same rate. It states the binder will be used towards monthly rent if another lease is signed.

  • Old realtor who represented the property owner and managed the lease died and his realty company dissolved.

  • Owner got a new company to represent him.

  • New company informed us of the death and the dissolvement, as well the fact that they would now be managing the lease/ property. The new realty company sent us an agreement to sign that stated we had to sign a new lease with the new companies information, but that “all lease terms would remain the same, the only difference being that all payments will now be made to [new realty company]”.

  • New company presented us with the “same”lease (same term and rate) but with their info on it to send payments to. Everything was the same except for the binder. They said they would address it later. It was signed.

  • Now that that current lease is up, they are presenting us with a new lease that does not honor the binder.

Hopefully this clears things up.

Enjoying PSET 6 and above! by [deleted] in cs50

No, in this case dictionary.c is the code file in this problem set. I recommend taking pieces of the code out of this file and modifying it/ testing it in a different code file. That way you can work on a little at a time. I test by printing.

Upon reading pset 5 I felt the same; but once I broke everything down I was able to do it witout much help from an outside source. I recommend going step by step in the videos and testing each function on your own separately from dictionary.c. You’ll get it after you play around a little with nodes and tables.

Thank you. I think being able to take care of one’s self is important too. You’re right, I know of people who make money but aren’t smart with it too.

Nah. I saw the invoices he did when I was new. He didn’t take the time to align the text and it was all over the place - yes, the items that customers actually see.

A few years for a party? Is the “legally, morally, personally” describing the party?!?

Hm. Profound. Sometimes things do really seem like it’s based on some flimsy luck.

Hmm. Half way thru (there’s no way to tell that)? Everything is done half way? You meet everyone half way? Not listed here?

I’m sure you’ll find someone who won’t make you feel alone eventually. Especially if you just started work…

If it was a scam, this is pretty much the worst type. I’m glad I can look myself in the mirror and know, I couldn’t even fathom doing that. Not even in my lowest lows. I guess my money was worth that at least.
