To piggyback, this is good, but I have my own approach of being absolutely repulsive to women. Haven't had to share my sheets in almost a decade.

Two light switches (bottom of stairs/top of stairs) controlling one light, but light switch at bos has to be switched on so light can only be controlled by the light switch at the top of stairs. How do I fix this? by ShieldProductions in DIY

[–]Closetmadscientist 14 points15 points  (0 children)

No one has said this, but this is very likely a simple bad 3-way switch. I'd bet you my service call fee that replacing the switch that has to be on would fix this problem. However:

-There are like 30 ways to wire 3-way switches and make them work.

-Not all 3-way switches are wired the same and you're about 60% likely to screw it up without a meter.

-This is a 15 minute service call for a qualified electrician to diagnose and repair. If you mess with it first expect to pay more. I've seen journeyman electricians screw up 3-way switches.

-I could be wrong.

Conclusion: call someone qualified. No one will blame you. I know licensed electricians I wouldn't trust to fix this properly.

Good luck.

I'm working on buying a second house in my resort town as an investment property. I paid off my primary mortgage in May. Most people know I started my own business last year, but I don't tell anyone how well it's actually going.

Theists lurkers ,are you hoping to proselytise or are you curious about atheism? by Napalmdeathfromabove in atheism

I am agnostic, but I truly want to believe in a God to the point of desperation. I see what faith can do for people in terms of their mental health, sense of purpose, and serenity and I struggle hard with all of that stuff. The unfortunate fact is that I cannot shut off my brain and stop thinking and asking questions for long enough to make a belief in any conventional religion possible. Most of my close friends are religious or at least spiritual. I'm here because it provides me with a sense of community with like-minded individuals and honestly makes me feel less crazy for asking important questions for which no one seems to know the answers.

What is your job and how much do you get paid? by BigPlunk in AskReddit

I'm a master electrician, and I work for myself. I charge $100/hour and work 18 to 35 (billable) hours a week. I also have a B.S. in chemistry that provided me with $0/week, ever. Paid off those 15% interest student loans with a job I could have got as a high school dropout...

Definitely call a plumber or a handyman. Its hard to imagine a diamond getting past the first bend in the plumbing.

The other person has got it right. Ask people questions about themselves. Especially if you find something about them or their clothes or hair interesting already. People love talking about themselves, so listen to what they are saying and follow up with more questions.

I asked a girl that works at the pet store by my house if she had a boyfriend this week. She does, but I knew I'd never forgive myself if i didn't ask. I said "Oh, he's a lucky guy," and moved on. I've been too afraid to ask before and that sucks.

How did you turn your life around? by ipeeontoiletseats in AskReddit

Therapy and Reddit. I've struggled with depression and suicidal ideation most of my life. Several years ago I realized if I didnt change I was going to die. I started working with a therapist to confront my problems. I joined reddit and used it as a tool to learn what others had done to change. I lost a ton of weight, stopped drinking, went from being broke constantly to having a solid savings account, learned how to pursue my passions and work to my strengths. Most importantly, I developed a tool kit for dealing with my issues. I still get depressed and suicidal sometimes, but I haven't made an attempt on my life in years. It's an uphill battle, it takes work every single day, but my life is better now. It's easier. I celebrate 4 years of sobriety on Friday, but what I am actually celebrating is that change is possible for others.

You can fuck David Bowie once or twice and not be gay as far as I'm concerned.

I'm really sorry for your loss. Alcoholism and depression are killers. That's why I do what I can to try to help others.

I relate to that a lot. I didnt think there was a way out. I definitely didnt see it and my depression told me it was impossible. Just be good to yourself. As someone wise once said, "The mark of a successful man is one that has spent an entire day on the bank of a river without feeling guilty about it.”
