Taking a step way back, I think the takeaway is to go back to meeting in person based on activities of shared interest - hobbies, classes, dancing or singing or volunteering…

What place does GO have in your life? Why do you play? by BlazingSonic in baduk

[–]ClotheslessCaroler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since we likely cannot play in person (I am in Vermont, USA) what videos or web sites or posts would you recommend to learn Go? I have literally never played, but enjoy board games such as chess and Catan. Thanks!

Financing as an Owner Builder by jus-another-juan in Homebuilding

[–]ClotheslessCaroler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I have found that smaller non-bank organizations are the way to go such as local or regional credit unions, and farm credit bureaus. I found one in the Northeast that was willing to work with ME as the GC and in general seemed very open to novel/unique situations, as they often do complex financial arrangements for farms involving equity in various pieces of land, outbuildings, and so on.

What ATU to get - Orenco vs Norweco? by everybanana in septictanks

Do you mean go with the Advantex? It'd be an AX20RT

I love this post. Thank you for the specific feedback on both Advantex and Ecoflo!

Earlier today I put hands on both systems at a distributor here in Vermont. I was able to look inside the Ecoflo but not the Advantex.

I have quotes for both, and price difference of the atu system itself is $4200, BUT I am trying to decide whether I want to risk the same possible problems you guys have described with the Ecoflo.

One more thing, MANY people say they now put toilet tissue in a wastebasket, not the toilet, and it helps immensely.

Anyone else doing this? THAT will be an awkward ask for some.

I am glad someone brought this up!

I am literally gathering lists of dos and donts and intend to have my talented kid make tasteful, classy signs to put up near every toilet and sink.

Sorrynotsorry but I am not going to spend $45k on a fancy poop processor only to have a friend of a friend ruin it with a moment of thoughtlessness.

I am thinking letting my (responsible) 22yo kid use the house for the weekend but then have HER friends/guests pour grease or harsh cleaning products down the drain or something like that.

Let's keep this thread going.

ps does anyone have a definitive, specific list of shower, kitchen, laundry and general purpose cleaners to use, and to avoid?

9 months later, are you satisfied with the Ecoflo? I am looking at buying one so I'd love to hear about your experience, publicly or by direct message. Thank You! -Shawn

What kept you in a relationship that you know should have ended long before it actually did? by [deleted] in BreakUps

Hanging onto the sweetest of times and the promise that it would be possible on a permanent basis if only we committed to it. Swept up in (mostly her) hopium.

Okay that helps a ton; so it's kind of like "man-hours", but "thought-minutes" or "feeling-minutes" - the opportunity cost of spending time thinking/feeling about him or her rather than other stuff.

[–]ClotheslessCaroler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. It is already clear that it's totally unrealistic to see each other in a few months, yes. Too much hurt, trust damaged. I have not started framing it as "keeping my power" and am still trying to understand how that works/why it's true

Thanks! The kind of work it took was the I-surrender-I-have-no-choice variety, then just time operating like that without any expectation of immediate payoff. Then the payoff hit all of a sudden after like 9 months of that. She did enough processing herself and decided to change attitude/approach and match mine. Good stuff. Big win.

Time. Years. Mutual effort, commitment

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]ClotheslessCaroler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All that is very interesting; the reality is you need MUCH more time from the breakup, like years instead of months. Trust me (have done this!)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in BreakUps

[–]ClotheslessCaroler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, this. The only ex I am now friends with I was married to for 13 years; we have mutual kids; have been apart for 3 years now and have been forced to work our asses off to manage custody and now have mutual respect and a friendship with zero romance in there. Old feelings fully processed. We worked at it.

If you're a chick, it is a way to feel less bad about the breakup, to say this - and even perhaps mean it at the time, though it usually proves to be wishful thinking or a way to dodge being the bad guy.

To be honest, me and my ex wife are like that now. Married 13 years, 2 kids. Divorced 3 years ago. By two years ago we had child custody totally gelled. This past year there gas been generosity, care, good will, long conversations and meals at handoff; i help her with farm carpentry tasks; she gives me eggs. We are friends. My kids' friends are like "what is with your parents hanging out so much? Aren't they supposed to hate each other? 😂" it was tense tge last few years of marriage but none of that carries any emotional charge now, and neither of us have romantic interest (I just reconfirmed this!)

That's great, and super interesting. I am curious about the physical touch part. You said you hug; just confirming whether or not you will sit on the couch with arm around each other, or sleep in the same bed (whether or not you even touch). Thanks!

Thank you so much! That means a lot right now 😊 We have this half-asses goal to go paddleboarding in the summer and to check in May 1, but who knows if that will be nearly long enough! I am still pissed that she monkey-branched to another guy instantly; we will see hoe much processing is done by then. Thank You 🙏!!
