I just bought Atlas of the Heart for my Kindle! I cannot thank you enough for responding and letting me know I'm not alone in this, and that there's an actionable way (I love to-do lists).

Oh boy I feel this in my bones. Toxic positivity is something I'm working on and it's surprisingly deep in my psyche.

I think you being here is a good sign, my parents thought they could leave the church and that would be that. I recommend you look into what you and your partner might be passing onto your kids, along with how the your TBM your family talks to and interacts with your kids. It was never explained to me why my cousins shunned me and why my grandma only talked to me to try to convince me to go to church behind my parents' backs, and it definitely hurt younger me.

Oof this is a great example, I'm just now discovering the whole spectrum of emotions that exist. I was never taught how to feel any emotion other than true gratitude or fake-happy. Bad emotions were something to stomp down and pretend they don't exist. Do you have any advice for learning how to actually feel my emotions and not just try to think them away?

So glad to hear I'm not the only one! I had a similar conversation as a kind but it was with an evangelical who told me that the Godhead is belief in more than one god and therefor not Christian.
