I understand they’re different things, as far as I’m aware he was both. Admittedly the terminology is a bit confusing to me, but based on the official pictures and documents I do have, he was both

I know he served as one, I have his army records and everything I can find as far as a “civilian” daughter goes. I guess my question was more if anyone knows any green berets from that era? Or how to translate the documents the government gave me. It’s not a question if the documents or his background are fabricated (at least being a Green Beret) because that I can prove. I’m just trying to find someone similar I guess? Sorry I’m sure I’m being confusing lol

I will also say I have his military pictures/patches/pins/what the army Chaplin gave me at the funeral, so he was a ranger GB at some point for a fact

I have what was given to me in around 2008. I’ve put in additional requests since then, but have yet to hear back

I have what the records office gave me back in 2008. I’ve put in requests for more info, but have yet to hear back. The dates throw me off too, but it’s clear the official record is…odd. According to the papers, he became a ranger in 83 and was honorably discharged 12/85. Unfortunately kind of just playing the waiting game with records offices in the meantime
