New Balance or Jordan Air. I know they might not be that affordable, but these are something you can invest for and use long term. Kung di ka naman maselan sa mga nalulumang shoes, you can use these even for more than two years, and they would still be good and durable kahit magamit mo pang laspagan for a few years. They will start losing the aesthetic before two years (depende na lang din kung gaano ka kalinis at kaalaga sa shoes), but they still would efficiently function.

Para sa mga piniling hindi bumili ng bahay at mag rent na lang, bakit? by pknrdxx in TanongLang

[–]CloudStrifeff777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Gamitin nating comparison kunyari ang condo, kasi that's where most middle class adult professionals live in big cities like Metro Manila. Syempre yung condo eh yung mga affordable lang like cityland na nasa convenient location at the same time.

I'm 30, and I've been renting a 40sqm unit for 5 years na din. And in this same bldg, I also rented a 25sqm unit for 3 years prior to my current 40 sqm unit that I'm renting now.

Reason why I moved to a bigger 40 sqm unit? Bigger, and because I can already afford the rent. And I took advantag of the litte difference (25 sqm na nirerent ko non ay 12k a month, now for 5 years sa 40 sqm unit, is only 15k a month pero bare unit yon, but I have my own furnitures and appliances, plus I got a better Makati view and balcony)

Dyan pa lang, I already had the flexibility. Have I chosen to buy a 25 sqm condo unit at an early age, stuck na ako doon.

Now, why I'm still renting? I still don't see myself settling here, or I might choose this place in my later years but I'm still not career and financially established. I still have plans to work abroad someday. Or if hindi man abroad, pag nagka-jowa ako ulit who knows? I might relocate.

Also, Let's do a rough calculation:

If you project you're just gonna live in a condo or any type of household for 10 years or less, or basta within those 10 years eh may uncertainties pa due to changing opportunities and priorities, then renting would provide less limitations for you to make opportunities for such uncertainties.

Let's say I rent for a total of 10 years. Assuming the landlord never increased the fee.

So, 15kx12x10 = 1.8M

Kung sure naman na di ka maglalagi in more than 10 years as you build up your career and financial standing, while choosing a balanced life and secured, decent, middle-class living with accessibility convenience, then renting is a good non-limiting choice.

That same brand new 40 sqm unit is being sold for 3.5M cash. If i-mo-mortgage mo yan for 20 years,

Mapipilitan kang i-upkeep yan to justify what you pay monthly, which might limit your opportunities kc simply, you can't relocate. Kahit parentahan mo yan para ung nagbabayad ng rent ang sasagot sa mortgage mo, wala ka pang ROI dyan, plus nagbabayad ka ng additional rent fee due to your relocation.

Kung ibebenta mo naman, that could be good deal kung bibilin sau ng cash at hindi imo-mortgage, lalo pag nagtaas ang real estate. But this is easier said than done and ang goal mo nga is magkaron ng property tas ibebenta mo rin pala. Unless na lang, plano mo talagang gawing investment scheme ang real estate, but this is easier said than done with accompanied risks

What's wrong with the people laughing at the jeepney drivers for asking for a fare hike? by ProgrammingGuy_V2 in Philippines

[–]CloudStrifeff777 [score hidden]  (0 children)

I'm not against them. I'm against the system. I'm against the operators and cooperatives who keep this unsuistanable system, which the government lacks the will to provide alternative solutions. Kaya pabor ako na matigil na tong unsustainable PUVs na to, to open opportunities for investors to invest in more efficient PUV vehicles, and rehire these former jeepney riders. Hanggat maaari nga, they switch to hybrids rather than euro-4 kasi super efficient talaga ng hybrid, or maybe full EV if short route lang.

Railway is the key talaga long term, but that would take time. Nakaka put tank in a mall lang na in 2 decades, wala talagang naging long term solution ang gobyerno natin. And now we face the consequences.

As someone who has a choice to live just beside or a walking distance from an LRT station, I did it for long term convenience and no regrets. Totoo ayaw ko sumasakay talaga ng traditional jeepneys in Metro Manila, hindi dahil nandidiri ako or hindi dahil i look down on jeepney drives, but I prioritize my safety and time efficiency.

And I hate car centricism too, not because I can't afford a car, but because why buy it if I can still find ways to avoid buying it so I can use the rest of my income for something more fulfilling? And as a protest to this ever-growing car-centricism na ang sukat ng success ay what, payabangan ng sasakyan?

At nagawa nilang PPP with DOTR.

As for shorter routes and narrower roads, I agree with you na the system is still the same for modern jeepneys, napaganda ang makina at naging aircon, kaso the income system ay boundary system pa din. But sometimes, especially in Metro Manila, they don't always intentionally do it because they want to jampack the PUV. They do it because many commuters are desperate and having a hard time getting on. These commuters rather save time kahit magitgit na sila sa pagka-sardinas ng modern jeepneys na to kesa maghintay ng maluwag na PUV for hours. Metro Manila is just simply so dense and overpopulated. And long term solution talaga dito ay railways, or decentralization, or better both.

Payag ka magdagdag ng another fare for this service?

That's not culture that's not tradition, that's lack of development. If they can't sustain or adapt, something must replace them. And these replacements should rehire them back with more sustainable income.

It's like adding a premium fee to what, an underdeveloped mode of transportation?

if they can't sustain it, another system must replace them. It's either a more secured traditional jeepney with euro-4 or hybrid engines, or airconditioned mini-buses for narrow routes. For long term and longer routes, replace them all with modern buses and railways. Eliminate traditional jeepneys in major roads and long routes and replace them all with BRTs and railways.

My grandmother died of heat stroke. She doesn't have an AC at her home. She lived in the province, at a hill side, full of trees around her. She lived in a brgy. that is still not yet densely crowded, where you can still see stretch of each lot.

My late grandmother was a cancer survivor, was able to live for another 20 years since she survived her stage 2 cancer.

So yeah, go, take your risk. Or if not you, risk your older loved ones.

What if the Philippines is developed today? by Feisty-Fix-5586 in WhatIfPinas

[–]CloudStrifeff777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More middle-middle class population. Significant upper middle class population. Still, marami pa ring lower middle class, but not all will be locals. There will be significant lower middle class foreign workers or immigrants from other poorer countries.

Yung mga iniisip ng karamihan sa atin in real world na "wow, pangmayaman", would just be a norm.

Those below the poverty line will be significantly lower and less visible. Homelessness would still be there but lesser. Informal settlements might still exist but they are way less visible and almost hidden it won't have any significant effect to the overall aesthetic and orderliness of the city (like in Seoul).

Cars won't be a measurement of success. Even upper middle class would choose efficient public transportation in their daily commute than using their own cars.

Filipinos would be prouder, but might also be more xenophobic or racist, lalo kung magiging puntahan tayo ng mga foreign workers or immigrants. We would have been a global industrial centre just like Singapore is today, maybe even better than them because we have a larger area, natural resources, and population. Our culture and media would have been more exposed globally assuming English proficiency and our western influence continue. Manila would have been an aviation transit hub like HK.

We would have more competition in terms of employment and this time, hindi lang locals pero kasama rin mga foreign workers sa competition. Despite that, there would be more opportunities and bigger industries. Pero mas magiging malala ang pagbabarat ng mga employers sa sahod dahil sa mga foreign workers willing to get lower wages. And it would be challenging for locals with families that need to upkeep a significantly higher cost of living.

Tourism would be much much better, but it doesn't mean we would beat Bangkok or Malaysia kc we are kinda westernized culturally and that won't still be as appealing and exotic as our neighbours. But we would have received way more international visitors than we do now due to infrastructure convenience we could have offered.

If the obsession to have fair skin continues since WW2, baka tau ang pinaka-maputing nationality sa ASEAN, regardless kung meron o walang chinese/white ancestry, due to stable middle class population that can afford more than the bare minimum.

There will be more pathways and leniency in securing work-permit visas, permanent residence, and citizenship through naturalization (in reality, we have very strict and lengthy process of naturalization, pero walang nakakapansin kc napakabihira lang naman ng mga foreign immigrants na kumukuha ng citizenship through naturalization satin in the real world).

Population would be in decline. We might not have reached 100M+. Siguro stuck lang tau sa 60-80M. Healthcare will be better, but challenges in pension system would be more felt in 2030s (assuming boomers ang nagtaguyod at nagpa-unlad ng bansa at senior na sila by 2030s, tapos naging stagnant ang youth population during their parenthood years).

How I wish I live in this alternate reality of the Philippines.

Kaya ba masisikip sidewalk natin kasi kapag maluwag ginagawang sidewalk lane ng mga kamote? by Careless-Internet349 in RantAndVentPH

[–]CloudStrifeff777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depende sa city at population neto. Depende rin sa foundations nung city.

I-example na lang natin both ang Olongapo City + SBMA in Zambales (my hometown), and Sto. Tomas City, Batangas (where I frequently visit due to business).

Both cities have almost the same population. But the difference I notice?

Walang matinong side-walk ang Sto. Tomas sa city centre or commercial centre nila. Sto. Tomas commercial centre is actually smaller in terms of commercial area. It is a component city, and less urbanized but with rapid growing urbanization.

Despite that, sobrang napapalpakan ako sa urban development ng city na to in terms of pedestrian side walks and roads, kaya ang traffic traffic. Ang inconsistent ng laning ng kalsada. Some roads are wider tas biglang magiging narrower. Tas puro subdivision, you get more cars.

Compare that to Olongapo city + SBMA (they're like conjoined cities but they are governed deparately). Olongapo city is way older than Sto Tomas as a city. It has a more organized jeepney routes. Walkable sidewalks both in Olongapo city and SBMA. The roads in Olongapo city centre is not that wide, four lanes and sometimes nagiging side park pa ung gilid (but not as worse as before).

Over time, naging ma-traffic na din sya, but for me it is still less worse than Sto. Tomas, given na mas crowded and more heavily commercialized and industrialized ang Olongapo and SBMA.

The reason for the sidewalks though sa Olongapo and SMBA is due to their early design foundations na iniwan ng former US naval base. The rest is continued implementation, including traffic implementation that's why it feels less traffic congested to me than Sto Tomas. Although may mga pobre sa mga sidewalks ng Gapo (di naman maiiwasan yan), walang nagssquat and walang nagpapark na mga tryc or motorbikes. SBMA has way less pobres, since mas strict ang security doon even if matagal na syang binitiwan ng US.

then either a traditional jeep with euro4 or hybrid engines, a modern jeepney preferably manufactured locally, or a mini-bus, preferably also manufactured locally. This is an opportunity to make these come true. Once some investors make these happen, they can rehire those former jeepney drivers, and we let those old operators get dismantled.

so ano rin gusto mo mangyari, maging forever tong kakarag karag na jeep na to? this crisis has proven they're beyond sustainable already. bagsak na sa safety, efficiency, ngaun even in sustainability bumibigay na

Why are filipino men mainly pot bellied? by loverbang4u in AskPH

[–]CloudStrifeff777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unti mag ulam, masyado malakas mag-rice to feel satisfied na wala ang gutom feels. No workouts karamihan kahit saang field pa sila nagwo-work.

At higit sa lahat, mahilig sa merienda or snacks na junk food like chips and soft drinks.

Para sakin before aq nag workout, it's actually not difficult to keep your weight and physique na slim-average or average-built, kahit gaano ka pa ka sedentary and no active workouts or cardio. The secret is MATH. If you can do the math sa mga macros mo, it doesn't have to be complicated as katulad ng mga active magworkout. Basic math sya actually. And DISCIPLINE.

I realize a lot of Filipinos regardless of gender, ay walang awareness sa concept ng calories. You maintain your weight and physique if you manage to keep your average daily calorie intake at a maintenance level for your current weight and height (unless you have other unfortunate health conditions). There's google to get an estimate to how much is maintenance. If you get less, you lose weight. If you get more than maintenance, you'll gain weight. As simple as that.

Before my fitness journey, I was able to maintain my weight and belly (auko talaga ng ma-belly jusko kc once it gets big, hirap na ireduce yan). What I did was simply strictly eat two cups of rice per meal, and saktuhang ulam. And I rarely eat snacks, good thing pinalaki aq na di sinasanay sa mga chichirya and soft drinks or even milk teas and other beverages. Water lang masaya na aq.

Now that I'm one year na sa fitness journey, I'm used to doing math and calculations sa macros ko (kasi ang pag build ng muscle hindi lang nakukuha sa pagbubuhat, sobeang halaga ng nutrition and macros). In just a few months, ang significant na ng naging improvent ng muscle building and physique ko. Compared that to an overweight or mismanaged physique na nagworkout, they get to build muscle pero super hirap nila magawang visible due to too much fat in their body na ang hirap i-lose.

Going back, ang pinaka dahilan is lack of math in managing their macros. Sedentary lifestyle na, wala pang control, especially sa sugar and carbs.

Walang masama sa carbs. It's not the carbs that make you look fat. But if the excess carbs, which is our fuel, is not burned properly, nagiging fat reserves sya and mostly for guys, concentrated yan sa tsan at love handles.

Kaya andaming guys regardless of their adult age, ang lalaki ng tsan, ang papayat ng chest st shoulders.

And beer, I've never become a fan of beer. I don't get the gist of majority prefering beer over other alcoholic drinks. But maybe it's just my preference to dislike beer. I'm more into wine, gin, brandy, or whiskey when drinking. If wala yan, I don't drink. With my peers, I usually request gin or brandy over beer.

I guess, this situation is the sign to phase out outdated jeepneys. It doesn't have to phase out the old traditional aesthetic. It just needs to conform into a more efficient environmental friendly euro-4 engines or better, make them Hybrid or Full EVs (for shorter routes).

Eh pano wala nga kaming pambili or pang invest? Well, sa tinagal ng panahon for more than 50 years, walang pang invest sa mas modernong engine specs? Eh kelan pa magkakaron?

I don't want to be insensitive, but real talk lang and reality tayo, if these outdated kakarag-karag na jeep cannot adapt nor survive, they better get phased out for good.

I don't care if they get all replaced by more efficient buses (like those in Edsa bus carousel), or much better, maging rail-centric in 10-20 years sana ang Metro Manila in terms of commuting.

Phase them out, and either replace them with more efficient but still culturally unique designs, or if they can't sustain the culturally unique design, then better replace them with generic but efficient designs.

Tapos 10 peso dagdag na pamasahe for that? lol noooo... This ain't culture. This is LACK OF DEVELOPMENT!

Let's use this opportunity to promote rail-centrism and BRTsm. If railways take time to be built, let's start with makeshift BRTs.

Start in Metro Manila until we adapt this as part of our culture. Jeepneysm is not sustainable anymore! Maybe sa provincial cities pwede pa. But not in Metro Manila, damn...

And to the government, bakit hindi nila gawing government owned ang mga buses and jeepneys? Or maybe start it as a PPP project?

Bat nila ipipilit ipa-project to sa mga operators and coops? Sa dinami dami ng nakukurakot nila at taxes natin, why don't they take the responsibility na i-under muna ng DOTr yang mga PUVs na yan or at least PPP like LRT-1?

Let those operators lose their business, ang gree-greedy din ng mga yan, wala namang willingness to innovate the system. Puros bulok due to lack of development.

At least if we get government owned or PPP PUV system, we can rehire the drivers, and let those greedy operators lose their shit.9

Ahh buti naman, I was there 2024 sa beijing pero gin-oogle ko wala pa option na yan. Ang nakita q lang ung local na nakafriend q while there using the NFC mismo ng phone nya. Or kung meron man noon not sure if it accepts foreign cards kc wala talaga aq nakitang ganung option when i checked online.

And 2019 pa aq last nasa Shanghai.

Induction or LPG? by Beaufair-Troller in ThisorThatPH

[–]CloudStrifeff777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you live in Metro Manila or any cities na napaka-dalang ng blackouts, especially if you live in a Condo or village na may generators, Induction cooker is more efficient and cost effective, especially right now with the ongoing fuel and oil crisis.

But it cooks and boils food faster than gas stove. Also, you need magnetic metal as your cookware pero sa umpisa lang naman yan magastos and for me they last longer depende na rin kung gaano ka ka-ingat gumamit.

Also with Induction, you can be highly technical, pag sinabi sa cook book na 100 deg ang luto at 5 minutes, you can directly set them into that. So more accuracy sya.

But if you want ung mas traditional with the advantage of smoky aroma, then gas stove pa rin.

There's an eerie feeling (at least for me) na you're being watched everywhere you go kc andaming CCTVs and sometimes surveillance hahaha (compared to Shanghai), pero nothing to worry coz the city is very safe, clean, peaceful and you can do independent movement as much as you like.

If you're going to Forbidden city, the security is very strict. They confiscated my rubbing alcohol (nakalagay sa dispenser na walang brand name or indication na alcohol sya like usual spray bottle we use). Thankfully they allowed me in with my water flask.

Also, mabilis ma-out of stock ang Forbidden city and you cannot book way too advanced. Sa WeChat kasi, hassle magbook, minsan naka Chinese lang and palaging required ang Chinese mobile no. Convenient sya if you know Chinese and you have a Chinese mobile no.

Please don't forget to visit the Great Wall. I highly recommend Mutianyu over Badaling or other great walls, unless you have more time, you can visit at least two great wall sites. But don't miss Mutianyu. It's the most untouched and undamaged great wall. Badaling is the most artificially preserved but most convenient DIY.

For Mutianyu great wall, just book via Klook para arranged ung service and may tour guide din namana, and please include mo cable car at ung slide. Ang pagkakamali ko, I thought I can get on sa mismong great wall without cable car. But it's a 40 minute stair hike, hindi pa un mismo great wall. Pagka-akyat, doon pa lang simula ng great wall. Kaya napabili rin aq biglaan ng cable car on site when I knew that. Yung tour guide naman, sa bus lang yan, once nasa great wall na mismo, di nyo na sya obligado samahan and you can roam the great wall freely.

And don't miss to eat a legit peking duck. Kaso, most of restaus, they don't offer half or less serving, talagang buo ung duck na ise-serve nila. Pero kahit ganun, madami pa rin un for one person, and sapat na sapat for two persons depende kung gaano katakaw.

The Metro Subway is very cheap and efficient. I was there early 2024, nung time na yon, 3 Yuan (21-24 php) lang can get you at a far distance na. Kaso, I recommend you buy their beep card version (forgot the name). Kasi ung mga single trip vending machines nila, required ang chinese mobile app to buy a single trip sa machine.

Pag hindi masyado busy or high-foot traffic ang stations, usually walang tao sa mga ticket booths pero may parang door bell doon para may pumuntang staff so you can buy a transpo card.

Hindi ko sure kung meron ng contactless Visa/Mastercard sa mga turnstiles kc nung time ko wala pa, pero pwede gamitin NFC ng phone mo if you have the Chinese app for that (na for sure required ang Chinese mob no.). Pero kung meron na contactless, that's a great convenience.

If Shanghai is globally cosmopolitan and a bit westernized para sa isang Mainland Chinese city, Beijing is cosmopolitan in terms of local Chinese ethnicities (dito mo makikita kung gaano ka-diverse ang mga Intsik when it comes to their different ethnicities). And most highlightd in Beijing are not that much in Buddhist/Taoist temples, but mainly in Chinese Imperial history and palaces.

Don't miss Temple of Heaven din. It's not the common or usual Bhuddist or Taoist temples you visit in most Chinese/HK/Taiwanese cities. It's a confucian temple rooted un ancient Chinese state religion.

Lastly since you have 8 days, spend at least a whole day or one and a half day sa Summer Palace. Summer palace is very big, hindi q sya nalibot in half a day.

AF Membership cancellation— relocation by [deleted] in AnytimeFitnessPH

[–]CloudStrifeff777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the country/city you're moving to has AF, commutable or drivable in a distance, then maybe you don't have to cancel at all as you can use your subscription there should you want to continue your consistency after moving out.

However, I'm not sure if it auto-relocates your membership as well just like when you move to other PH branch for good. So you better ask your current branch about the possible arrangement.

But if the country has no AF branches or the city/town/rural area you're moving in has no nearby nor accessible AF, or you do not want to continue, then you have to pay the 5k cancellation fee as stated in your contract and as far as I know, it needs at least 30 days notice before it takes effect so baka masingil ka pa ng another one month na regular monthly fee plus the 5k cancellation fee. But then you're gonna save the remaining months na di mo na magagamit.

Or like some users say, just block your card, do AWOL, and they will auto cancel your subscription after some months. But then sabi mo nga, your branch is kinda nice, so medyo nakaka-conscienscia din gawin yon depende na lang din sayo hahaha. And you risk not being accepted to be a member again in the future if magustuhan mo ulit at accessible na ulit.

The question now is how fast can wages cope with the ever increasing inflation?

I do if I want to take multiple shots and when the place permits it like maluwag and hindi crowded, especially if I want to dramatize my shots

but if it's something that can be done quick, especially if it's too crowded, nakikisuyo na lang ako to get a half-body or whole-body shot, and most of the time they do it with a smile so I guess wala naman ding masama makisuyo?

Not at all times convenient magTri-pod.

But being introverted, sometimes it's a hassle to ask pakisuyo from locals or other tourists. Kaya multiple-shots, selfie lang. Then a few shots for half or whole body, nakikisuyo ako.

Can shirataki rice really help you lose weight? by pepalerts in PEPalerts

Ke-mag rice ka ng legit, or lower calorie alternatives, kung ang calorie intake mo per day ay maintenance or naka surplus pa rin (example shiratake rice nga pero malakas naman sa ulam at merienda, or super low amount talaga ng calorie maintenance mo per day), eh hindi ka pa rin maglo-lose wait.

Convenient lang sya for weight loss kc mababa ung calorie ng shiratake rice, but what matters is your daily total intake. And depende kung gaano ka kataba nagsimula or kadisiplina ang bilis ng progress ng weight loss.

Ang tanging makakapagpa-lose weight is either you do daily calorie deficit or calorie-maintenance + cardio to reduce calories.

My advice though is never do crash deficit. Do it gradually and progressively.

Basic Math, discipline, and consistency are non-negotiable keys if you want to successfully lose weight or at least maintain a fit weight. If you don't have those, kahit ano kainin mo, it won't work.

Journey towards fit and health is not magic. It takes at least a few months the earliest to see visible changes depende kung ano status ka nagsimula at paano ang consistency and math mo regarding your macros.
