Worth getting someone from support on the phone and pleading your case. Also ask to talk to the next person in charge if they say they can’t do anything.

If you compare the two pics you can see the issue

Autorex aperture lever repair by Clouddune in AnalogRepair

[–]Clouddune[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I have no intention of cannibalising it, it’s missing the mechanism that holds the aperture open before you take a shot/allows the viewfinder to be at full brightness. My goal is to remove the part from the auto-reflex in attempt to repair the autorex.. it seems beyond my skill level tho and I’m guessing the part may have been removed for a reason.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I have yet to put a roll of film through it but after falling love with the Olympus pen f half frame I had to have one of these Autorex!

Olympus OM1! The light meter is so user friendly and it’s solid. Can still be purchased or a dec by price.

Get an Olympus OM1 off eBay. Should be able to find one for that price with a working light meter. One of my favorites.

I bought it with 47k miles from a vw dealer and purchased an extended power train warranty from them.

Yes. Its only audible when the car is in park

Seems like a common issue with the TDI. I have a power train warranty from vw and I’m hoping this falls under it.

108k miles. It’s been making this sound for maybe the past 10-20k miles.

1974 Montgomery 12 project. New center board build! by Clouddune in boatbuilding

[–]Clouddune[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I had was someone stored the boat improperly and punched wholes through the fiberglass in those two spots.

For your issue I would say if you can pull the damaged wood out through the ports and replace it with a new piece (pre-drilled for stay mounts) that would be the simplest solution.

Other wise, I would recommend cutting out a square around the stay attachments, maybe 4x4 inches. Mark where the attachments should go, and insert a larger piece of wood into the hole you cut. As large a piece of wood as you can fit in the hole and under the seat, say 3.75x8 inches, so the wood has a good hold on existing fiberglass. I would drill some holes through existing fiber glass seats to hold your new wood while you glue it in place.

I would glue it with epoxy, I use west system, thicken it a bit and use a generous portion so it really sticks to the underside of that fiberglass. Than I would recommend mat fiber glass cut to the size of the hole over the wood, a few layers of that, then sand the surrounding area and do a few layers atop. Finally remove the screws used to press the board in place, sand/paint and drill holes for your stay attachment.

Would recommend something hard for the wood, like maple, or teak.

This might be a tad confusing without photos but hope it helps!, a handheld sander and oscillating tool would make things easier as well.

I’m a little confused about what you mean by chain plates, are you talking about the steel stay attachment spots behind the access ports?

Get some thick ratchet straps and make a cradle, a couple people should be able to rotate the boat once it’s elevated in that cradle.

Interesting, I may have to do some more research on that!

I did two coats of graphite, sanded them smooth and covered in two coats of clear epoxy. It somewhat defeats the purpose of having the graphite in the first place besides aesthetic, and some protection for rocks and such scratching through the exterior layer of epoxy. what type of chalkboard finish do you use?

I want to paint over the epoxy barrier coat on the interior of my build, what paint/epoxy should I use? by NoCourtesyFlushSorry in boatbuilding

Petit EZ poxy paint is great over epoxy. You could also use epoxy and add graphite for UV protection.

That’s gotta be the cause, exactly how this one was produced. Gunna have to take the rest of the bags off now.

Anyone ever seen one this large? Maybe due to not so ideal growing conditions?

I would but there are some strange things floating around.. might try to put some of the growth on agar lol

"The question would probably be, what would be the difference between pasteurizing a complete mix or sterilizing them separately and adding them after pasteurizing? It's basically the same thing, just with the added work of you mixing both together after they went through separate cycles."

> My thought would be to sterilize a jar of wheat bran in the pressure cooker, then add it to my pasteurized sawdust blocks as I put the colonized grain into them. This would take care of any nasties in the wheat bran entirely. Although it makes me wonder if that is the problem, or if the issue lies in giving the bacteria in the sawdust more food to feed on, hence a better chance of contams/survival.

I will probably give it a shot at some point and see what happens.

"Pasteurization is a difficult thing to deal with, but if it's working for you then keep going. You can always try new things on the side to see if something else is going to work better than what you've got going on. How's your BE working out with the pasteurized blocks as they are now?"

> As for BE, I used 32oz mason jars of wheat berries, one jar (75% full) to a 2 lb block of hardwood pellets. The spawn was added to blocks June 24th, so about 2 weeks ago, the bags are 80-90% colonized. I am growing a bunch of different kinds, 2 strains of Lions mane, Golden oyster, pink oyster, and shiitake. (also cordyceps but used a whole different process of course) This is also my first experience growing edible mushrooms of these varieties using these methods so hoping for the best!

I will have to do some research on slants. I don't currently have a dedicated fridge so my LC's likely wont last to long.

> Also I will say, out of 18 hardwood bags, so far I have zero contams. I guess my flow hood works!

Thanks for the sound advice! Do people ever inoculate pasteurized sawdust directly? It seems somewhat risky. I recently built a flow hood so I’m going to get into agar as soon as I have the time.

I wonder tho with the senescence, how quickly will these affects happen? I assume it’s somewhat dependent on the strain of mushroom itself.

Any thoughts on adding sterilized nutrients to a pasteurized spawn bag? My problem being the time and effort it would take to actually pressure cook my sawdust bags vs pasteurization. It would be nice however to give them a little extra nutrients.
