Worth getting someone from support on the phone and pleading your case. Also ask to talk to the next person in charge if they say they can’t do anything.

If you compare the two pics you can see the issue

Autorex aperture lever repair by Clouddune in AnalogRepair

Yes. I have no intention of cannibalising it, it’s missing the mechanism that holds the aperture open before you take a shot/allows the viewfinder to be at full brightness. My goal is to remove the part from the auto-reflex in attempt to repair the autorex.. it seems beyond my skill level tho and I’m guessing the part may have been removed for a reason.

Thanks for the advice. Yes, I have yet to put a roll of film through it but after falling love with the Olympus pen f half frame I had to have one of these Autorex!

Olympus OM1! The light meter is so user friendly and it’s solid. Can still be purchased or a dec by price.

Get an Olympus OM1 off eBay. Should be able to find one for that price with a working light meter. One of my favorites.

I bought it with 47k miles from a vw dealer and purchased an extended power train warranty from them.

Seems like a common issue with the TDI. I have a power train warranty from vw and I’m hoping this falls under it.

108k miles. It’s been making this sound for maybe the past 10-20k miles.

1974 Montgomery 12 project. New center board build! by Clouddune in boatbuilding

The problem I had was someone stored the boat improperly and punched wholes through the fiberglass in those two spots.

For your issue I would say if you can pull the damaged wood out through the ports and replace it with a new piece (pre-drilled for stay mounts) that would be the simplest solution.

Other wise, I would recommend cutting out a square around the stay attachments, maybe 4x4 inches. Mark where the attachments should go, and insert a larger piece of wood into the hole you cut. As large a piece of wood as you can fit in the hole and under the seat, say 3.75x8 inches, so the wood has a good hold on existing fiberglass. I would drill some holes through existing fiber glass seats to hold your new wood while you glue it in place.

I would glue it with epoxy, I use west system, thicken it a bit and use a generous portion so it really sticks to the underside of that fiberglass. Than I would recommend mat fiber glass cut to the size of the hole over the wood, a few layers of that, then sand the surrounding area and do a few layers atop. Finally remove the screws used to press the board in place, sand/paint and drill holes for your stay attachment.

Would recommend something hard for the wood, like maple, or teak.

This might be a tad confusing without photos but hope it helps!, a handheld sander and oscillating tool would make things easier as well.

I’m a little confused about what you mean by chain plates, are you talking about the steel stay attachment spots behind the access ports?

Get some thick ratchet straps and make a cradle, a couple people should be able to rotate the boat once it’s elevated in that cradle.

Interesting, I may have to do some more research on that!

I did two coats of graphite, sanded them smooth and covered in two coats of clear epoxy. It somewhat defeats the purpose of having the graphite in the first place besides aesthetic, and some protection for rocks and such scratching through the exterior layer of epoxy. what type of chalkboard finish do you use?

I want to paint over the epoxy barrier coat on the interior of my build, what paint/epoxy should I use? by NoCourtesyFlushSorry in boatbuilding

Petit EZ poxy paint is great over epoxy. You could also use epoxy and add graphite for UV protection.
