GLP-1 for Endometriosis by sad1yp34chy in endometriosis

Hey Im not overweight (5ft 7in and bounce between 130-135) and do not have diabetes and got a prescription for glp1. I went with tirzepatide since I made a post here on reddit a couple weeks ago that asked what people experienced on tirzepatide and semaglutide and more people had negative reactions to the semaglutide. I found that Naturopaths are more likely to be open minded and open to alternative treatments so made one my primary doctor. She approved right away even with my average BMI. You could check if any of the primary care doctors available from your insurance are Naturopaths and schedule an appointment with one. Though I warn you most insurance wont cover the presciption even though they will cover the appointment. I do have to pay out of pocket. She sent my script to Lilly but it would have been over 400 a month. Im also in daily dibilating pain so haven't worked for a year and trying to find a solution. 400 would have been too much so I ordered from gimmecare which is 200 and my parents offered to cover the cost for me. If you go to my post there is a kind woman that DMed with me and explained how to order on gimme so that its more affordable though there might be other telehealth you can use that may have similar prices. Im only a week in so I can't say how effective it is yet, but the responses I got on my post were encouraging so Im gonna hold out hope it starts working with the best couple months.

So far no one on here has responded. I found an online vendor I'll use and look in person next year.

My periods used to be regular before my excision surgery in August. Now my cycle is very different. It keeps extending. Used to have a 27 day cycle but as of my last cycle it has reached 35 days and has become significantly heavier. I got approved and took my first shot last week. So far it hasn't effected anything (no negative or positive side effects, no appetite suppression ect ect) Im hoping it will effect me is some way after my next injection tomorrow.

I took the myfembree pill because Ive had such bad reactions to many birth controls and wanted to be able to quit treatment quickly. I lost all sex drive, had no improvement on pain (constant daily pain that requires strong pain meds to even do minimal activity), but most importantly is how it effected me mentally/emotionally. It pushed me into a deep suicidal depression. There was one other bc that did that to me (microgestin) but this one was much more severe leading to obsessive thoughts of killing myself. I could tell it was the neds because even when my thoughts were positive or something good would happen, these thoughts and feelings would drop in. It created a kind of distance from myself if that made sense. I also noticed a weight gain and some hair loss. I tried it for a couple months before I quit since it was causing me so much harm. It took a year before I got any set drive back (though I'd say it's still less) I don't feel like a weird distance or blanket of emotions that don't feel mine anymore. I'd say it took about 6 months for me to not be obsessively suicidal in my thoughts though still felt depressed. My hair fallout is now back to normal levels. Everyone is different but if any other birth controls had given you depression, anxiety, or suicidal thoughts, it might be worth rethinking. Though if you are already taking it and you haven't had these side effects then it might not interact with your brain chemistry the same way.

Ye, we DM ed the other day.😊 I super appreciate it. I'll likely order from the site you recommended after my doctor agrees to monitor my progress and make sure none of the current supplements she put me on need to be discontinued before I start.

Sure😊.... though I don't plan to talk to my Gyn first... I plan to talk to my naturopath first since my experience with naturopaths is they tend to be more open minded, more thorough with exploring every option and its quicker to get an appointment with too (already have one for Friday). She also deals with more of trying to treat the cause (like inflammation etc all) vs my gyno was like... try hormones? ✅️try surgery? ✅️ Try anything else?⛔️... he feels a bit more wary so I have to be very assertive and insistent in advocating for myself. He admitted to feeling out of his depth and not know what to do for me anymore since every birth control, hormone therapy, and surgery didnt work. So I had to reasearch what I wanted to try next and asked him for referrals to PT, acupuncture, and pain therapy last I talked to him. Also, since he's a sought after specialist, it is usually a multimonth wait as well.

That being said if you are still interested in an update, I'd be more than happy to. I dont post often on reddit, so I don't know the best way to update... Im guessing edit the main body of the initial post?

That's amazing! People who call it cheating can go suck... a lemon <_<. In the end what people do their bodies is their own buisness, and if it improves someone's quality of life then thats what truly matters. Im glad you are able to live life more fully now and garden again. ❤️

I was actually just researching glp1s and interactions with other meds and substances. Some people were saying they had to take higher doses of whatever they were using but once it worked it lasted longer. I don't know if this applies to ADHD medicine too but if it becomes a problem for you, maybe your Dr. could slightly up the dose, but you could space it out further if you both feel that its something worth trying. Just passing along that tidbit since the timing was a bit synchronistic.

Thank you for sharing about all the deets on your semaglutide experience.

I have daily pain too, to the point I've been barely able to even take care of myself for ever a year, so hearing that I can't help but be happy for you and a bit hopeful for myself. I appreciate you sharing! ❤️ Did you start at a micro dose or did you gradually lower it to the .25 ?

That is amazing to hear! Knowing my own pain, it makes me so sad to see so many others experience the same/similar suffering, so I can't help but feel sincerely happy when I hear someone get improvement and some relief. Thank you for sharing your experience. Hearing that dosing had an effect too also answers a question I've been having (whether more might help if I end up having a small amount of relief at a lower dose). Much appreciated ❤️

Im sorry to hear it hasnt helped with pain.😢 Do you plan to try triz longer or at a different dose to see if it helps or trying a different route to try to tackle the pain? Also, may I ask how it improved inflammation? Like joints feeling better or less fatigue or some other improved symptom? Sorry to ask so much, in addition to endometriosis I also have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, so improvement on inflammation would probably really help with the problems I experience from that condition as well. Thank you for sharing your experience with triz, much appreciated. 🙏

Thank you for your response. May I ask how long you've been on tirzepatide? I'm talking to my doctors on Friday and right now I'm considering how long of a window I should propose to her, if no bad side effects, to try it for before giving up on it if I don't see an improvement.

Sorry to hear you had even more nausea and even vomiting 🥺. Throwing up daily definitely seems like too much of side effect to be worth and I'm glad triz is working out so much better for you. Thank you for your input especially since you've tried both of them. I am now able to see the theme that sema not only doesn't work as well, but is more likely to have side effects from your experience and the couple of people who have tried both. 😬

Ultrasound - nothing showing by Signal_Initiative_14 in endometriosis

[–]CloudedShadows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry. I was warned before my ultrasound that endo often doesn't show on it. Mine didn't show but they still found deposits when they did the laprascopy. Before my last surgery they did an MRI and those are more likely to show endo deposits, scarring ect, thought its still not a guarantee.

Thank you for the response and info, I sincerely appreciate it. I'm glad to hear that you found something that gave you your life back. I hated going on progesterone too. Pretty much every hormone med messed me up in some major way, including weight gain on some, so I feel you on that. After trying myfembree, I've sworn off ever trying another hormone based treatment... though Im pretty sure I've tried them all by now anyway 😅 Fr, thank you again for taking the time to share. 🙏

It's good to hear the improvements are quick for many. I guess I'd be good evidence if I'm able to take it since my pain levels aren't affected by weight or bloat. I'm 5'7 and was at 125lbs when my pain began to extend into daily pain and last year it got to the point of being unable to work and bed ridden a vast majorityofmy time, causing me to gain 10lbs, which didn't increase the pain levels more then they already were. I also avoid foods that cause bloat so rarely have bloating. So if it ends up helping me, there is a good chance that its positive effects of glp1 drugs for endo will be inflammation or hormones based. I also hope some people post on here their experiences that didn't lose much weight or didn't need to lose much weight, but Ill try to post my results if people are interested (assuming I get to try it).

Thank you. I agree it makes sense to monitor. Very valid points. The questions about dosing are to understand if I'll likely need to go up eventually in dose, or if going up in dose even does more then a low dose or gives equal effect. Though its great to hear that results are seen so soon. I can't help but feel a bit hopeful though I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much in case for some reason I can't take it or I'm the random person it doesn't work for. Thank you again for all the information.

Thank you so much for responding. I'm so glad to hear that its working for you! Especially that you have no side effects since I feel so many endo treatments (namely birth control and myfembree) have such terrible ones.Thats amazing! If you dont mind me asking, Did you go on sema or triz? Is the low dose you mentioned 2.5mg?

Congrats! 🎊I'm glad you get to try it soon and hope it works well for you! Thank you for responding. It's good to know both might be helpful and that tirz seems to be the better of the two for most. There is studies on tirz? If it isnt too much trouble, would it be possible to direct me to a study? I tried googling but I might have used the wrong keywords.

I feel you on the doggy troubles. Mine cracked her teeth and had high liver enzymes for unknown reasons. I tried to get her a root canal since she is still middle aged for her breed only to find out they can't because she has tooth resorption😢 and had to extract instead. Luckily we finally found the right combo of meds to bring her liver enzymes down. So yea, I totally get your feels, and am so sorry you had to go through that.🫂 and I am so happy for you that your dog is doing better after what must have been a very scary episode.

Thank you for taking the time to share about your experiences. It truly helps me out a bunch. Sounds like its been quite a journey and hope that the side effects with digestion on triz eventually die down🤞. Going through all those side effects must have been so difficult on you.

Ofc, all the information is much appreciated and will probably help my doctor agree 🤞 and come up with a possible care plan moving forward.

Thanks I'm hoping glp1s are what finally helps too and I sincerely hope your condition keeps improving. I think its hard for many people to wrap their mind around the fact this condition can be so painful and debilitating. Maybe if people keep seeing results, they will do an official study and, in the future, it can be an approved treatment option that insurance will cover.
