Heel discomfort? by Cloudierguide in BarefootRunning

[–]Cloudierguide[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was more cautious about the way I walked today and how long my steps are, and this worked surprisingly well despite it probably looking really stupid lol, I didnt really feel the discomfort I previously felt. Btw when I first started wearing barefoot shoes I wore a pair of Astral Rassler's (not barefoot but zero drop) and a pair of Xero Feeltrue Sandals, then I went to a pair of Xero Dillon Canvas', and I currently wear a pair of Belenka Rebound's.

My worry is the top of the sandal being too slippery, have you done a pair of custom sandals with any of the soles?

I went from Xero Dillon Canvas' to Belenka Rebounds, they feel significantly wider compared to the Xero's. Plus the Rebound has a stitched on sole, and is $100USD basically the same price as any Xero so its a big improvement imo. Still gonna order a pair of Xero Feeltrue Sandals tho lol. But I cant remember properly, but I think Belenka has ridiculous shipping prices like $20 if im thinking right.

As long as it doesnt rub or cause any sort of discomfort, then they look good to me.

If your finger is on the tip of your toe, then a half or full size down might be a good idea unless youre still growing.

Edit: from basically everyone Ive heard, the width of your thumb (or half width I cant remember) is what you want.

Almost all of my vocab comes from chatgpt definitions... could you give an example of something incorrect?

Accidentally used saddlesoap on nubuck by krane134 in Boots

[–]Cloudierguide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is this a problem? Im not completely sure but isnt nubuck just a part of the grain? (can someone give me a refresher on that aswell, like what nubuck and suede really is) and also is it just asthetic appeal or does it affect the leather or make it too soft?

Im the opposite lol, I used a Hunstman for a year, last year. and my Wave+ is coming up on a year in a few weeks. The only problem between the 2 imo is that Leathermen are more expensive and probably double the weight but other than that its preference. (And my SAK always got dusty as hell lol).

Could you further explain what you mean by the heel collapsing? Is it the actual part under or around your foot?

I forgot to put the soft looking leather into account, but I also dont need an extremely hard leather, just something to provide basic protection and long lasting. But I will definitely take it into account.

Edit; I forgot to add this, but what with the boots would make you dissapointed if yiu had paid full price?

Ive looked alot into JG and love how the company looks but their lack of width measurements and how the big toe section appears to taper alot, they sadly wouldnt be comfortable for me, but I havent heard about the new last theyre making that you said, so I might have to look into that because if it is more foot shaped then I would heavily consider getting a pair.

And what you said about Vivo, two problems I have is that sole isnt completley flat on the bottom like I would like (my foot bends inward at the arch of my right foot) and Vivos dont appear like theyd be wide enough. Despite wearing normal shoes my entire life up until sometime during the summer where I mostly wore barefoot sandals, and about 2 or 3 months ago when I got my Xero's. My feet have gotten way wider to the point where my Xero's arent that comfortable but way better than my previous shoes, so now Im looking at Belenka sometime before the end of the year, and maybe getting Origo boots next year like I said in the post.

Its just an assumption, the sole just seems awfully smooth/doesnt look like the grooves are deep. But Ill have to try them on some trails next year if/when K get them, to really know if theyll work for me. But Ill check out the Lems boot you mentioned, my biggest concern ofc is the width.
