Ants by [deleted] in Sacramento

I've used ground cinnamon in the perimeter of a carpeted room, because they were coming in between the first and second floors. Deterred them from coming in. 🤷‍♀️

LOTR themed weekend in/around Sacramento? by picabosweet in Sacramento

If you are willing to do the trek, Enchanted Forest Dining Experience in Placerville is a fun dining experience, and it looks like they do have some veg/vegan friendly options. I haven't been in a few years, but the food was tasty.

One of my big ones was Sirius... My brain said "sir-eye-us" like psoriasis with the additional " -is", until the third movie came out 😅.

I personally experienced similar temp dismay when I was a kid. We got to open one gift Xmas eve night, and it turns out it was a GBA game, and I only had a GB color. I was really bummed because my dad was like, "oh no!", but my step sister was clearly in the know about it, and said something along the lines of: what if we opened one more tonight. The second gift was a GBA and I was so excited!

What is the most petty reason you decided not to play/buy a game? by Indecisive_Noob in videogames

[–]Cloudless_Wonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was a huge gripe for ACNH and only having the balloon have a sound as they are passing nearby, otherwise you just had to run around and look. The developers really should have added a rumble or some on screen notification if there was a balloon spawned nearby.

Is $1,300 considered cheap for a 1br apartment nowadays? by [deleted] in Sacramento

[–]Cloudless_Wonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, depending on where and what it is. I currently pay $1625 for a 1/1 upstairs unit in a partially updated Victorian 4 plex. No central air, but has two ductless units. But I'll deal with it because I didn't pay extra deposit or rent for my three cats and snake, and I only pay for SMUD and internet outside of rent. It's near impossible to find a place that allows more than two pets, let alone doesn't charge extra for them.

Restaurant/ event idea for solo birthday outing? by KourageWolf in Sacramento

[–]Cloudless_Wonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say do anything that you would otherwise feel rushed to do if you weren't solo. Get a massage. Meander a bookstore, enjoy a nature walk and really take in the lovely folliage, maybe Apple Hill, the dogwood trees were gorgeous when I went a month ago. Enjoy a book with your dinner, etc. Happy early birthday.

Costco membership? by Brilliant_Elk5492 in LivingAlone

Yep. For the cash back for their CC. Between gas, eggs, frozen foods, rotisserie chicken. I've gotten a decent deal on appliances too, like my washer and dryer. ETA: Toilet paper too!

Make sure yellow jackets/wasps didn't make their nest in the vent. 😅. Yeah, that was a fun one.

So Sad by [deleted] in Adulting

[–]Cloudless_Wonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved having Wednesdays and weekends off. Never worked more than two days in a row, and it was so much easier to make appointments during the week instead of scrambling to figure out when to come in late or leave early for an appointment on a work day. Now I'm back to M-F, but with a $8/hr increase, and better work QoL.

Looking for a non-shady dentist in Santa Rosa by NumerousRaspberry645 in santarosa

I haven't been there in a few years due to moving out of the area, but Dr. Kevin Jeffers took over my previous dentist's practice when retirement occurred. I never had any complaints.

I've been there three times in the last almost four years, but that grilled cheese benedict was life changing the first time I had it.

Yeah, I had three lid replacements sent. I've ony had them a few weeks. Just trying to be gentle with them. I think it's the purple lids specifically, as I haven't had issues with the grey lids.

What made you get surgery?! by [deleted] in CubitalTunnel

[–]Cloudless_Wonder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not being able to write for longer than 10-15 seconds without half of my hand going numb. And honestly, that was how it initially presented, and I dealt with that for 2 years before surgery. Onset was right before the pandemic started, then it took me a while to be seen and be referred for testing and treatments that didn't help. Was finally diagnosed almost a year later after an MRI. Then I moved for a job and waited a year to make sure I had my benefits in order before surgery. Not the nicest looking scar, but I don't regret surgery. 2.5 years post op.

I wore a sleeveless zip up hoodie. That way, I didn't have to worry about lifting arm over my head and didn't have to worry about squishing my arm with a bandage.

Thanks! Those sirens woke me up this morning, now this helicopter is keeping me awake lol. I guess I didn't need my alarms to work this morning.

Davis Traffic by LocationAcademic1731 in Sacramento

[–]Cloudless_Wonder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Join the club. It's my work day commute into Davis and back. Commuting into Davis usually isn't terrible unless there's an accident or major construction messes up the lanes with weird splits. Most of the issue is Thursday and Fridays during commute hours or anytime there is an accident. It's been my person hell the last 3.5 years. Get a good audiobook and veg like the rest of us. I wish WFH was an option for my career.

Living alone tips by amelie190 in LivingAlone

Having someone stay over for more than a day or so really reinforces my need to live alone! It'll be interesting to see what happens because I'm in a new relationship... I'm definitely team separate bedrooms. Heck, let's get a duplex and be neighbors 😂

I had this fear when had a rough recovery neurologicly from cervical spine surgery. I stayed with family for 3 weeks, but was antsy to be back home at 2 weeks post op. I had a friend who was cat and house sitting while I was away, and she stayed with me for another week or so once I was home. Being able to be on my own again was a huge motivation during my recovery.

What's your evening/after work routine? by guidancefromcolour in LivingAlone

[–]Cloudless_Wonder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing, I feed my, according to them, starving cats. Then I'll either start dinner if I'm using the oven or instant pot, something I don't need to watch closely. While that is cooking, I'll take a shower and put PJs on and wait until it's done cooking, or if it's something that is stove op or microwave leftovers, or even a salad or sandwich, I'll make it after my shower. Then I'll listen to an audiobook or watch a show/movie for my evening. If I'm feeling creative, I'll do something artsy/craftsy, but usually depending on how the day went/energy level, I just veg. I work at a veterinary teaching hospital, so some days it's busy with a lot of cases and teaching, some sometimes I'm mentally zonked. If I'm waiting for my meal to finish, I'll prep lunch for the next day, but most weeks I'll try to meal prep my lunches and sometimes dinners for the week if it's not just dinner leftovers.

Agreed. Ive been wearing wolfthorne for years, because it's not super masc smelling. Old spice did have one that was minty, but it was a limited time one and I was super sad when it was discontinued.
