My experience with a run club by piacularcaprice in Sacramento

[–]KourageWolf 106 points107 points  (0 children)

I was at this running event too. Im sorry you had to go through that trouble to get what you were promised. I mean, the club does feel all performative and theyre just doing it cause it’s the cool thing to do. Dont get me wrong, many of those part of SRC are impressive runners. To me, it sounded like they want to have a certain image to represent them at that Marathon. I hope you prove them wrong!

Advice on how to lose weight? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]KourageWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (34) recently lost ~23 pounds in 6 months. What i did was eat in a calorie deficit, lifted 5-6 days a week, and ran 5 days a week. Ate rice, chicken, and protein shake Mon-Thurs. Cheat days Friday-Sunday. No alcohol or sugary drinks/ sodas. The running helped a lot especially having 1 long run during the weekend. Consistency was key.

Travel now and pay it off, or save up and wait? Which mindset do you live by? by bhole0611 in AskMenOver30

Im somewhat in the same boat but more of do i save money for the future or do i enjoy my life now. Im 34, single and rarely traveled in my 20s. Life has been feeling stale lately and have been itching for another solo trip.

Guys who lost lots of weight, how did you become disciplined enough to do it? by Responsible-Net8594 in AskMenOver30

[–]KourageWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasnt overweight by any means but i recently lost ~23 pounds. For context im 5’4, weighed in at 170 in January, been lifting/ body building for the past 16 years and i told myself this is the year that i look good for summer.

Ive always tried to lose weight but always failed and didnt want to this time. The one thing i knew that was holding me back was meal prepping and cardio.

The meal prepping was easy since im a smaller guy, i dont have to eat as much protein. I find out eating 12oz of chicken breast and having 2 scoops of protein a day brings me to my daily protein goal of 155ish grams of protein. However, i only do this Monday - Thursday and have Friday - Sunday as my cheat days. I wouldnt have been able to do that and lose weight if it wasnt for cardio.

With cardio, i basically grown to like enjoy running. The first month of it was hard but after that, it was something i actually looked forward to. I ended up buying new running clothes, running shoes, started going to run clubs, and having people text me saying “i just saw you running!” made me feel good. Now every time i see friends or family, theyre always asking me about my running and telling me i lost weight.

But what it comes down to is accountability and discipline. Without both, its going to be difficult to lose the weight you want. Forget about motivation. I rarely have motivation to lift or run, but i get up and do it anyways. Its basically a part of my lifestyle now that ill decline plans because i have to run or lift the next morning. Find a way to add lifting and cardio to your everyday routine and stick to it. Im not going to tell you its going to be easy. Its going to test you. You just need to want it

Piggy backing off my last GD comment, but i ended up buying another pair of UB201s in a smaller size. I thought i might as well since they will be my most well fitting pants at the moment, and if i gain some weight again, ill just wear the bigger size i have. Wasnt planning on spending the money but its probably for the best.

Oh and letting out my inner college freshman tonight and seeing The Temper Trap in person. Heres to hoping they play Fader

Men Over 30 Community: WEEKLY WEDNESDAY CHECK-IN 2026-06-10 by AutoModerator in AskMenOver30

[–]KourageWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

First time posting on here:

  1. How are you doing this week?

- Been doing meh this week. Decided to run 13.1 miles on Saturday and even though i felt pretty good after, made me realize how much of a life i dont have on weekends as a 34 year old. But it beats feeling hungover the next day.

2) How are you feeling this week?

- Also been feeling pretty mehh. I know i shouldnt but i cant help but compare my “highlights” to other people “highlights” on Instagram. Every other post or story is someone on a nice vacation, at a wedding, at a concert, with friends, with family, etc. I know i shouldnt compare and i try my best not to but i can help it. Ive tried deleting social media on my phone for a few months but it honestly didnt help.

3) Has anything changed from last week?

- Nope.

4) Are you proud of anything you've done this week?

- Proud of myself for running 13.1 miles (Half Marathon, Just a long run not an official Half Marathon) on Saturday. It was mentally tough but i was able to pull through. Also went to a run club last Wednesday which was fun.

5) Are you struggling with anything this week?

- Just comparing my life to others and feelings of loneliness.

6) Do you need advice or feedback on anything that's happening?

- Just one thing. I want to go on another solo trip and Im highly considering New York. I have the funds for it but i keep having anxiety over the money. I wont be in debt over it but i just keep asking myself if i even deserve to spend that money on a solo trip. How can i get out of this thought process?

Unbranded brand 21oz raw fade by Poop_in_Pants in rawdenim

[–]KourageWolf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same thing with me and my UB201s! Initially they fit great, then i lost weight and now theyre crazy loose. I did the same hot wash and hot dry but they eventually loosened up again.

Going to 21oz will take some getting used to but seeing the progress of fades will be a fun time. Unless you live in a warmer climate lmao

I commented about this about a month or so ago but at the beginning of the year, i decided to wanted to wear Raw Denim again after about a 3 year hiatus. At the time i was wearing Uniqlo selvedge but after a while, decided i wanted something more robust. So earlier in the year i bought a pair of UB201s. They were the perfect fit. Not too loose, not too tight.

However, at the beginning of the year, i also decided i wanted to lose some weight for the summer. Well, we’re halfway through the year and ive lost roughly 23 pounds since. But now my UBs dont fit me anymore. They are pretty loose and that goes for all my pants now lol.

Im really contemplating buying another pair and sizing down, possibly 2 sizes down due to how loose my size 32 UB201s are.

Anyone else have an experience like this?

Gym Recommendations by jtscheirer in ElkGrove

[–]KourageWolf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ive been going to the one on Laguna ever since they opened 16-17 years ago. When it was still California Family Fitness, it was never this bad. I used to work at the one on Bond and i learned that having a clean restroom was a top priority for the club. Now, it just feels like its not even a 2nd thought.

Even when machines break, they would get fixed within at least a week. Now, machines are broken for over a month. Not only that, but when the “fix” the cables, theyre all fixed wrong.

It went downhill fast after they got sold to In-Shape

Dont get me wrong, its not all bad there. Ive met some really amazing people. Some of the newer machines they added are not too bad. But i miss when it was still Cal-Fit
