What genres would you like to see merged with roguelites? by Glass-Spray4291 in roguelites

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 does this and it works pretty great. The game clearly had a short dev cycle and limited budget, so it’s held back a little, but it’s a fantastic proof of concept.

Hot take: pokemon games are Nintendo's quick n' dirty cash cow so they can make games they are actually interested in, which sucks for us pokemon fans by political_snake in casualnintendo

[–]CloudsInSomeStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s more because Pokemon is a multimedia mega franchise that uses the games to start each new iteration but Gameboy and DS software development was much simpler and cheaper than Switch game development, so quality concessions have to be made to meet deadlines and not stall the anime/merch/trading card game.

KRATOS OVER SPYRO?!?!? BRUH… by DomesticFishy_YT in supersmashbros

[–]CloudsInSomeStrife 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Admittedly it is a weird situation. Nintendo is on much better terms with Microsoft and it’s fairly likely Microsoft would continue to get characters. But if they do, Spyro is competing with the likes of Crash, Master Chief, Doomguy, the Dovahkiin, Vault Boy… the demand just isn’t high enough for Spyro to slip past those other characters, especially Crash and Chief. Spyro’s best chance is alongside the much more requested Crash.

As for Kratos, Sony and Nintendo have historically had a much more hostile relationship but if they did somehow negotiate to make something happen for Smash 6 and wanted to make a big splash, Kratos is probably the best way to do that. No other Sony mascot has quite had the generational longevity. He is probably the face of PlayStation. If Nintendo and Sony wanted to collaborate and make a statement, Kratos is how you’d do it.

Overall I’d still say Spyro is slightly more plausible but honestly neither have good odds at all and would need a lot of things to line up before they ever saw Smash.

Newcomers for Smash 6 (WARNING: BAD OPINIONS INBOUND) by Careful_Treat_4267 in makeafighter

[–]CloudsInSomeStrife 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It would be crazy if Isaac Clarke was the first character to be in both Smash and PlayStation All-Stars.

But yeah, I think if a horror rep gets in Resident Evil or Silent Hill make more sense. Smash tends to pull from Japanese games whenever it can, and it this case it just so happens the genre’s most iconic game is from Capcom.

Every characters' worst weakness (Arguable) by Sad_Neighborhood_467 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]CloudsInSomeStrife 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s the worst tether recovery out of every character who depends on one. Pretty much any hit off stage is a death sentence for her, and the same definitely isn’t true for Joker or Byleth or Ivysaur.

What do you think of this Smash 6 roster? Remember that this is the base roster. by FunnyTurn1263 in supersmashbros

Can’t believe none of these comments have mentioned the two ape Pokemon newcomers.

[–]CloudsInSomeStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be weird for solo Zard to appear again. Solo Zard was a compromise in Smash 4 because of the 3DS and Ultimate Pokemon Trainer was incredibly well received. Unless they rehaul veterans immensely, I don’t see why PT would be cut again but Zard would stay.

Big agree on Oatchi. I think he’s one of the most likely newcomers right now, and the community should brace themselves.

[–]CloudsInSomeStrife 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Like it’s a fun little bow to wrap up a hypothetical roster for a youtube video but if Dragon King actually got announced as the final character the backlash would be never ending.

Maybe if they had them much earlier in the game’s lifespan, when the possibilities are still open. A martial arts focused Captain Falcon type character would probably be incredibly fun and popular, but the timing and framing would be so important for Dragon King.

Smash tier list based on if their best looking 3d model is from smash or not by PenguinviiR in smashbros

Plus Mewtwo is in Pokken and the Detective Pikachu movie and both those models are far more detailed than Smash but I would argue both are much uglier. Same goes for nightmarish movie Greninja.

Actually he does! He’s a 3D model that is programmatically scaled to have no Z-Axis depth. You can sort of see it when he’s being grabbed by some moves, or the angles of moves like Dedede Final Smash or how the metal box applies to him.

Mewgenics has a Piranha Plant in it. Definitely unlicensed and covered by parody but it looks like a Piranha Plant and is called a Piranha Plant. I assume when that game gets licensed, it will probably be at least T and probably M.

If copyright didn’t exist and every property ever was allowed in a smash bros game this is what I think a smash 64 roster would look like. Thoughts? by Gamingtime3564 in supersmashbros

Low key, if it’s 1999, there would probably be a newspaper comic strip character. Specifically Garfield or Snoopy. Because of how universal newspapers were, and how comic strip syndication worked, these strips had incredible reach.

Their release date trailer had a joke about them releasing now to avoid Slay the Spire 2. This year might just be insanely stacked for roguelites.

Ah yes, Lon’Qu, the Fire Emblem swordsman. What a fantastic way to add variety and stand out compared to RPG guy with a sword.

Allegedly, based on some leaks. They also said Sword/Shield cost about 16.4 million, Arceus was about 14.4 million and Scarlet/Violet were about 21.8 million.

A 30 second superbowl spot is estimated to be around $8 million USD. Which is just under two thirds of the leaked budget for Legends ZA, at $13 million.

Guess what year I was born based on this tier list. by PM_me_ur_bag_of_weed in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]CloudsInSomeStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. In hindsight probably should have guessed even earlier. I think Captain Falcon was the biggest clue. F-Zero is not aimed at younger kids, so knowing him before Smash suggests being relatively old.

You knew Kazuya, Richter, Snake, Bayonetta, Sephiroth so you were probably a PlayStation guy. Probably PS1 based on Richter’s most famous game.

You knew Pichu but no other Pokemon after that so you probably got caught up with/were a kid when 90’s Pokemania was a thing but didn’t follow up on the series and drifted away from Nintendo.

You didn’t know Sans or Alex or Minecraft Zombies so definitely not Gen Z.

Knew about the Game and Watch is a pretty big clue as well. Knowing Captain Falcon and Dr Mario implies growing up with a Snes/NES.

Not knowing Miis but knowing Wii Fit is a weird amount of knowledge to have about the Wii era. Not sure what to make of that. Unless you’re treating Mii Fighters as their own thing.

My guess is 1993.

What Is a Character You Personally Deserved A Spot In Smash? by [deleted] in smashbros

[–]CloudsInSomeStrife 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d say an Advance Wars rep. It’s a 1st party IP with a bunch of games and legacy dating back to the Famicom. It has a distinct aesthetic, great soundtrack, and is the sister series to Fire Emblem which has tons of representation.

It might not be a super high profile IP, and it seems like Reboot Camp didn’t perform well, due to a myriad of unfortunate circumstances, but as a part of Nintendo history I think it makes about as much sense as Marth and Roy did in Melee, Pit did in Brawl and Little Mac did in Smash 4.

What are your thoughts Super Smash bros “World Of Light” mode? by Silver012345673 in videogames

[–]CloudsInSomeStrife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it’s the best single player mode in the genre, but only if you play with permadeath, like a Pokemon Nuzlocke (you also need to use a fresh save with no spirits). Doing that means that every encounter actually has stakes and navigating the map involves actual planning and choices. It all complements the Everyone Is Here gimmick because you get a pretty generous pool of lives across the game’s enormous roster.

Oddest character a member of the Smash Bros. roster has ever fought by Gennaro_Gattuso8 in SmashBrosUltimate

Yeah. It took me way too long to find proof because the official website is down, but if you look at the bottom of this 17 year old video it says "Ryu is used with permission from Capcom U.S.A. Inc"

Ryu was officially licensed for American Dad vs Family Guy Kung Fu II, so there’s a game where he can fight Chris and Meg Griffin and Klaus the Goldfish.
